I'm plugged straight into the internet don't have a router or modem, i used to have a router with port-forwarding it died last night but the connectable issue started way before that.

What i think is the issue is that i got a new vpn service from my isp, i never used the previous and i haven't used the new.
So what im wondering is it possible that the new one is just strapped on to my connection by default?

The reason i think i have a vpn forced on me is that when i check my ip on sites like whatsmyip it gives me a totally different ip then the one i have showing in network connection details.

Any help is appreciated, thanks

If you have a forced VPN there is noting you can really do to get the right ports forwarded onto your real IP.

The real question is... why are you worrying about being connectable here now that site is most likely going down in a couple of days?

After reading  Private Internet Access VPN port gorwarding article   my guess is that checking with your ISP support may or may not provide you with a list of ports open on the VPN server. Once you know the ports that are available, you can choose a port to set in your Torrent client. The article will at the least explain how it should work. The rest depends on the ISP policy related to port forwarding.
