Free Speech or a Stupid Move?

I say stupid move, at least as a business.

Stupid move.. no doubt.

Be interesting to see how many they sell.. I bet whilst their reputation has now been thrown under a bus, the edition will sell loads.

So yet again it's not the person at fault, but his family and society at large? Puhlease..

The general News Media has made billions off the story so far so whats wrong with a magazine using the photo?

If you stop and think about it not a single person who already buys the magazine will NOT buy that edition.

For them it is a win-win as a few people actually care what Huffington or others has to say so it is free advert time for the magazine.

I'm with Timex on this with the point of what is the difference of using his face to sell the magazine or using the faces of the dead victims to sell them? In the end they are simply using a tragedy to sell magazines with tired shock journalistic flare thrown in and since they are a lefty rag nobody in the media will really call them out for it since they are all fellow travelers.

As i see it, the GUN Zealots are responsible for all violence. A society with guns becomes a violent land.
Pick up a gun, ammo, rifle, hunting magazine and see how the weapons are made to look oh so pretty.
American society always puts the evil pricks ahead of the victims. Even television, news etc. only focus on
the tragedies. Why? It sells. Rolling Stone took a step over the line.. really .. did they ... Is he innocent or is he guilty. According to the US Law he is innocent until his trial determines his Guilt. That is another Joke.

Not defending anyone who makes money from a tragedy. I think Rolling Stone was making a point.

Blah, yawn blah..

well...yeah?
i agree that you can never be fully stripped of your personal responsibility for doing something, but come on, do you really believe that every radical muslim is inherently a bad person? Is every racist a completely bad person? Communists? Any sort of extremist, really?
You cannot deny that the way you are brought up, the society you are brought up in, has a profound effect on who you will become.

I don't know shit about this guys story, the point is:
Plenty of people have done bad things for what they thought were the right reasons - so i at least appreciate a full story more than a one sided affair where he's just a monster and nothing more.

I think the media is in general is totally irresponsible for making these dumb fucks look like heros or celebrities. The next wack-job that sees the pictures will think " wow I want to be famous too, lets go bomb something/Shoot up a school". These people should be either not reported on at all, or demonized.

All covers are the same. "Look Inside" is the purpose of all of them. Charles Manson, Sophia Loren, Adolf Hitler, G W Bush,  and Marilyn Monroe appeared on covers for the same purpose.
It's a legitimate news story that might offer new insight into a huge problem.  I have three daughters in the area, who attend many public events, and I'd like to know and understand more about why someone wants to kill my family.  I have no doubts I'll be able to read it and not become Tsarnaevs prison Pen Pal.
