Anyone have experience with it? Trying it out now, but seems it won't play DVDs/BlueRays that is in rar files?
Any good scripts/programs that unrar and give good names for movies?
Considering building a new server and using Plex there, but it seems somewhat of a hassle if I manually have to unrar everything. Except for that, Plex looks awesome. Gonna use it to stream movies over internet, so need something like Plex

I use Plex as my main media server. Mostly for files rather than disc's.
If you rip your discs you could just keep them on your server as single movie files. Future-proof (if there is such a thing).

leaving everything rar'd will cause other issues
disk buffers for one, time to play will be longer and fragmentation
plus it can get messy, unrar the files and use any server you like
I use it for my main media server, its a great bit of free kit. Most Samsung Smart Hubs have the Plex App now which is handy rather than forking out for a Roku or an equivalent. as Ezzy says its better to have them unrared, I have had 3 streams of 1080p Movies at once at our house before not even a single lag / pix elation.
And if you still want to unrar stuff, there's a great little program called SCRU (Scene release unpacker), let's you specify certain folders to "listen" to and unrars everything that comes in there. You can also set it up to organize to what folder what files should be unpacked to etc.

Thanks alot, thats a little gem right there. is there any way to filter whats inside the rar's?
Like i want any series to be unpacked in one folder and not keep dirname, but also want movies in another folder WITH dirname and nfo

I don't think that SCRU can read the headers containing genre and so on.. However, with a media server like Serviio that can be done. Basically it automatically organizes all content for you. So it basically reads and creates containers for different genres or series and so on. That's my combo at least and it works really good in all devices
