I'm Wollay, the creator of Cube World. I started this game in June 2011 as a hobby project. My inspirations were Minecraft, Zelda, Secret of Mana, Monster Hunter, Diablo, World of Warcraft and many more. My aim was to create an infinite, colorful, procedurally generated world, full of adventures, monsters, and mysteries. The result is Cube World, a voxel-based role-playing game.
My wife joined development in 2012, and we're planning to release an alpha version for Windows PC soon. The alpha already has many features, but some are still missing. You can check out a feature overview below.
The alpha will be available for a lower price than the beta version and the final version. We're planning to release updates regularly. Updates are free.
The game can be purchased here:
https://picroma.com/buycubeworld There's also a tech demo on that page, you can use it to make sure your PC will run the game.
€15 or $20 USD.
This includes immediate access to the current alpha, and all future versions.
Still waiting for shop to go up. He should've just added it to steam. Damn germans!
I'm sure Steam and GMG and others are courting him, and that will probably happen in the future, but this is after all an Alpha and by using PayPal he'll get all of the money for himself without giving up a cut. He'll be a millionaire overnight judging from the interest.
Well this is just a king sized clusterfuck.
Now Wollay has released a new launcher to fix server load problems and a few other bugs, still probably no crack until the shop comes back online and people can get some working accounts.
Shop still down, still just some vague tweets.
It looks like Wollay has an ego complex and insists on doing 100% of this project by himself, including sales and account info, which means he's trying to fix the current system rather than move to a new one.
I know Humble offered to sell the game for him, Steam would have done it, and both Tiy and Notch offered to help him with servers but he actively refused everything. I assume he doesn't want to owe anyone anything.
And so now we wait.
I actually kind of hope the cracked version comes out BEFORE the shop opens, so perhaps losing a chunk of his customerbase will teach him how to handle sales properly in the future.

Steam has already talked to him but he wanted to do it on his own. Notch has also offered him a job at Mojang, but still he wanted to do it on his own. Now he can't handle all the traffic and we'll have to wait a while until he fixes it. Also he made his own payment system where the site jumps to amazon, links some shit into Paypal, then back to his site where you get the key and where you have to register it. That's why it's so fucked up. Shit is badly made.
Crack came out a few hours ago.
Well, it's not really a "crack", the new release of the game will work if you disable your internet connection, LAN Adapters, and other online services like Hamachi/Tunngle/VPN's.
You will need to completely uninstall programs like Tunggle, and then reboot. Maybe just disabling their service is enough but it's hard to say.
Disable all that stuff, then launch the game, and it will work. After the game starts you can re-enable your internet and all other services and it will work fine! The server and online play also work, no accounts required. You just start the server and connect through your IP address.
There were some issues with people worrying about viruses but it appears to be clean!
Played around 4 or 5 hours with a friend and we both pretty much unanimously agreed the game is trash.
There's barely anything to do at the moment. Really, you can only explore and do dungeons. That's pretty much it. Apart from towns and dungeons, the world is empty, and considering the size of the map you spent 99% of your time running back and forth. Yeah, sounds like a crappy MMORPG doesn't it? Because that's what it feels like.
I played Minecraft for a while and running around in Minecraft is largely similar to what exploring in Cube World is like. You can't really call it "exploring" as there's nothing to discover... Just towns... and dungeons... and more of the same.
There's only a few class skills, combat is pretty stiff, the dodge mechanic isn't as exciting as the site makes it sound.
Maybe the game isn't finished, it's still in the alpha stage, but he still wants $20 for it. It's barely worth playing even as a free game.
I've been following the community and it seems anytime you criticize this game, people defend it by reminding you "The game is alpha" and "It was created by 1 guy". The gaming community is in a sad state if they let scapegoats like the word alpha justify a game being terrible especially since he's charging $20 for the damn thing right now.
Lack of features aside ("alpha"), the game's core design is flawed and unenjoyable, in my opinion. It reminds me of grindy MMORPG's and it's not fun or interesting. It's stale, flat, and repetitive. Very, very repetitive.
If you're thinking about buying Cube World then I urge you to play the pirated copy first for a while to make sure you enjoy the game. It may not be what you expect.
The game looks really cool, and I'd be tempted to just go ahead and buy it, if that option were available. Gotta support the good indie devs after all. Hopefully he gets the payment issues straightened out so soon so he can hop back on the money train.
The store is back up as of a few hours ago.
He takes it down every 10 minutes or so to relieve some server stress and then puts it back online. It's been cycling like that all day.
Love the game so far. Been playing with 3 other friends all day yesterday. I'm playing as a healing mage. Currently doing most dmg and can heal (OP as hell).
Super fun. Looking forward to future updates with building houses and such.
Every time I visit their site, I get either no shop, or (and worse if you ask me) the "User registrations are currently disabled due to server maintenance. Please try again later." message.
Please un-maintain the server so I can give you moniez!
Both. It's like Minecraft/Terraria.
You can play alone, or find a server and bring your character there. You need an IP to join, there's no server browser.
Officially supports 4 players, but I've seen servers up to 127.
Don't play in public servers unless you want your character powerleveled by accident.

Hmm ok thanks for the info. I am going to get it looks really fun.
Ok so after a few hours of playing I really like it!
Anyone else experiencing pretty bad lagspikes every now and then?
Are you talking about online?
I see a lot of complaints about DC issues, connecting issues, and rubberbanding... Maybe that's it.
I played online with my bro's for a while and didn't have any problems.
edit:
If anyone has a Cinnamon Roll or a seed to buy a Cinnamon Roll then let me know.
I have a server you can join and give it to me. 8)
Where did you got the Cinnamon Roll? whats the seed? Also if any one knows where to get a more powerful lamp seed please tell thanks.
From what I've read, Cinnamon Rolls don't spawn in shops, so the only way to get them is from drops.
I made an advert saying I needed a Cinnamon Roll and I found some random person to trade with... I traded my Water Ice (Spitter food) for it.
Currently the two best pets in the game are Turtles (Cinnamon Roll) and Spitter (Water Ice).
The turtle does an AoE spin attack and has pretty much infinite HP; good for ranged characters. I wouldn't call it a Tank pet since it doesn't do anything to generate threat, so it won't hold aggro, as far as I can tell.
Spitter has a ranged attack and heals you; good for melee characters.
The best lamp seed that I know of is 209222, it's a yellow quality lamp. Costs 40 copper or something.
