hardly a serious chat topic. That said Im not shocked since in the "pirate worl"d going behind a pay wall means trying to sucker as many people as you can to subscribe before you shut down and take all their money.
whilst the demise of another popular indexing site in itself maybe boring to some me i think that when someone knocks on the site admins home and telling him to shut up shop and it wasnt only his address they had but alot of the site staff aswell i think that is pretty serious.

the problem is everyone is asking why they were the only nzb site to get a notice when other sites are now just as large or larger since they don't have a pay wall. They took the money and ran.
Whats the alternative ? That was the indexing site i used ... i don't really care that they shutdown as i paid the $5 or whatever it was years ago. Had a feeling something shifty was going on after they reset all the accounts. When i was trying to get mine restored the admins over there had some kind of god complex and all the other stuff leading to the shutdown.

Learn how to manually search Usenet and try to make your way into the underground Usenet communities, that's where sites such as nzbsrus get most of their stuff from anyways.
Yeah, i already know how to search manually just too lazy. I'm not big on 0day stuff these days as i usually don't have the time to watch it and will either leave it to the weekend or following weekend. I've found an alternative site which i was using way back, its one click extra ! But it'll do.
I wept when I heard the news. I cried for the fools who were too lazy to learn how to use newsgroups. I hope they don't find replacement sites, and then leave Usenet to the people who participate.
they basically stole nzbrus's design, but it is free and you get 5 downloads a day unless you want to pay. Otherwise you can use sites like nzb.su or nzbs.in which are a little more work.
8edit* another free one is nzbplanet.net but they are a bit slow sometimes at getting things up compared to the others; it's fine if you dont need stuff an hour after it's released.
So, things are going to be changing around here. How and why? Well, let's start with the how...
How
nzbX as an index will be closing down, and instead - will become an open source software package that lets people easily run their own indexing software, whilst allowing for the option to sync releases, ratings and community metadata with other installations. Neat, right? The index will cease to exist as of now, and at some point in the very near future a countdown will appear on the site, when the countdown expires - super shiny sexy software release! As I can't really do anything at the moment, making code tweaks from a machine not designed for it is my plan (when I'm awake).
Why
Well, first and foremost - I (Lemon) am recovering from a heart attack (at the ripe old age of 26) which I sustained a few weeks ago. My health complications from last year have made a comeback, and they've done it with a vengeance. I do not have the time or energy to maintain running an index or fight any legal battles which could arise from doing so (as per below).
Today, whilst I was half comatose - I received a visit from a member of FACT (Federation Against Copyright Theft) who attempted to pressure, threaten and harass me (and failed) to hand over control of the domains (presumably so they could use it as a honeypot), as well as making references to the criminal prosecution of the administrator of a video streaming site. That's good, I'll keep that in mind if I ever set one up in Antigua. After this, whilst I felt relatively calm - I experienced crippling chest pains and my heart rate was surging fairly high in comparison to what it should be.
The couple I was intending to hand over control of nzbX to backed out, and I decided to enact my alternative plan (as per the "how" section) in order to protect the state of my health and the confidentiality of my users. At 6PM tomorrow, every trace of the user database will be wiped out - don't worry, the location of the origin server is a big secret and there's no way anybody could have got your information.
Contact
Feel free to email hello@nzbx.co for a chat, though responses may be extremely slow due to the fact the bulk of my time is dedicating to sleeping and attempting to recover. I do like emails though!
Don't we have an entire thread around here somewhere showing how you don't even need those sites by using SABnzb? I laugh at anyone that lost money to nzbrus.
