LOL you should look how much money Apple has to pay Nokia per every Iphone handset they sell sometime. And it isn't out of the goodness of their hearts
:
Yes, Nokia the same company that has filed court documents supporting Apple in its court case to stop 26 Samsung products being sold due to Samsung stealing ideas from Nokia.
So, once again, I will say, to most of the world, it does not matter what the phone specs are. It is the visual appeal to most that will win over.
Some go for brands they trust, others go for visual looks, others have to have the newest and greatest for ego tripping.
Ontopic: Wait a few months for the next iPhone to be released before selecting and then you will have all the options and knowledge.
To annoy all the haters of iPhones and Apple products to be honest. I am an iPhone and iPad fan however, unlike the iPhone haters/Samsung slaves, I do not care if people go Samsung or HTC or anything like that.
The topic is to help him pick a new phone, I have nominated the iPhone 5 because of its ease of use, social networking(its got all the major social networking apps, streaming is very good on it and it still is rated as having the better apps. Do you want 2nd place Market place or the winner Apple App store? (again, just to annoy the Samsung slaves).
Get Blackberry Q10. Fantastic phone. Got everything you need, most important apps are there. Battery is brilliant.
It bugs me, when some say, that BB has only few apps on their store. Then I say - WTF do I need torch app, or "Know your death" app, or any other stupid and useless apps that do exactly nothing.
There are 10, maybe 20 most important apps on every OS. Period. Every one is great, regardless you love iPhone or Samsung, Nokia BB etc.

Actually I think BB is the only major phone brand I have never owned nor wanted to own. You are right every phone has it's positives and negatives and it just depends on people's tastes. If you ask people advice about a smartphone you will get 100 different opinions from 100 different people with 100 different tastes. Now if you ask for advice about a smartphone and say exactly what is important to you (ie Camera, screen, apps etc) then people should give you actual reasons to back up their opinions.
was considering either the Lumia 928 or the Galaxy s4 but now I think I am going to wait till next quarter and see if Nokia sets a date for the Nokia EOS which is a Lumia Phone/Body with an updated 41mp camera from the Nokia 808 Pureview

1 hour for one song? Are you using a computer from the year 1990 or have you got like a ton of processes running in the back ground. I'd be looking for the problem before blaming iTunes.
@ Wolcom,
Um, I think you will find its because of the iPhone that all these items that you can now use with phones is because of the iPhone and iPod. External speakers among one of the major items.
I do not care if people go Samsung or HTC or anything like that.
But you don't mind recommending an inferior product ? If i was asking for tech advice from "anyone", i would expect an answer that is not purely based on personal opinion. C'mon mate your worse than those kids that sell tvs to old people.

Inferior? I never recommended anyone to buy samsung.
Down below is links to about 5 different websites. Each one has a different top 10.
Personal opinion is a big factor, like it or not and Tby will be no different.

Well when you are looking at the top phones from each brand they are all pretty much equal in terms of performance. So it all boils down to personal preference what feature you want the most.

Thats exactly what I've said from my first post. Android is an open operating system but the apps not as good.

iPhone is a locked OS but the apps are better.
You mean the other way around.
Apps for iPhone has more than often a stupid design where the back button is on a different place where on android phones you use the standard back button in every application removing the need for a back button in the application.
And the stability on the applications is better on android compared to the locked down ios.
So all in all you get pretty much the same applications on both systems and the difference is that the applications on the android phone is more stable and less clutter on the screen making them easier and faster to use.
Getting bored of my HTC One X.. love the android market but there's millions of apps that id never use, and quite like the slickness of a WP8.
Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced, decent camera and smallish handset (iphone 5 dimensions or smaller)?
I dont really care about a quadcore as my current one is under utilised and just results in heavier battery drain..
Im guessing on my above spec that I should be shooting for the higher end Lumia phones?
Thanks in advance
The price on the 920 lumia has dropped a lot since the release of the 925, 928 and the upcoming 1040 but it is a BIG phone. I saw it today in Italy for 299 Euro. The Lumia all run on dual core processors BUT you don't notice it at all it's still rather snappy and very responsive (to me that's down to the OS being optimised)
Smaller versions if you don't mind spending a bit more try the 820 but if you are on a budget go for the 520 or the 620 both are decent phones with the 520 having a slightly bigger screen but no NFC and no Flash. Personally I love WP8 and it's a far far cry from old WIN 6.5 of even WIN7. If you have Win 8 on your comp and like it you will enjoy it on your phone.
Also seen the samsung ativ S come out really cheap lately
Torn.. but im pretty settled on the idea of WP8
yeah I've seen it and it's more or less a w8 version of the s3.
The HTC' win phones are nice too. I just personally prefer Nokias and with the new *25 models all coming out the price on the *10 and *20 models are all falling even if they were already reasonable.
If you had the One X and want to move to a Win8 phone my personal recommendation is the 820 as it has most of the features of the 920 and it's not as plastic as the 720/620/520 models. Honestly I use the internet sharing and the 4g connection with my tablet all the time.
Yeah cheers.. my main concern was with the camera on the 820 compared to its older higher end brothers, but then saw a comparison and there wasnt much between them at all, certainly not enough to justify silly price tags

the 820's camera is almost identical to the 920 is it has one led flash while the 920 is dual pulse and the 920 is 8.7mp while the 820 is 8mp but it's not great in low light apparently
Indeed, was worried about the profile of the phone due to that camera, but then realised that the chunkiness of it on all the images i saw was the additonal camera grip attached to it lol
