So my currently contract with my smartphone (LG Optimus 2X) is ending soon.
And I need to get a new smartphone, that can help me get through basic daily tasks, such as social networking, texting, stream short videos and som light core games/ apps.

Right now I am considering getting the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, that is rumored to release in July.
Still not sure if I should rather get the S4, but I still thinks it's too big.

Any advices?

I just saw my friends new HTC One yesterday and holy shit that is one excellent/beautiful phone.

Im an iphone fanboi but I would say get the HTC one. Beautiful!

If thats all you need your phone for then pick more or less any smartphone going back 3 years. Its all about design now. Retina display is nice but not needed.

The perfect sized smartphone is the iphone 4 imo. I got the 5 though!

At the moment I am a big fan of the Win8 phones and have a Lumia 920
But I am considering switching to a Galaxy s4 (but not the mini the s3 mini was awful)
The HTC one is a super nice phone as has been pointed out it would also be easy for you to move to since the LG runs Android so no real migration to a new Os it needed. My wife, Magenti and half the known universe seem to swear by the Iphone and you can pick up a 4s far cheaper than a 5 nowadays. Instead of an s4 mini you might want to consider a full size s3 instead.

My contract is up soon, I currently have an iPhone 4s, I recon ill get a Samsung galaxy s4 as the replacement.  While the iPhone is a pretty good phone it is extremely overpriced for what it is.

Since the last upgrade I am charging my phone twice a day at least.  I wouldn't recommend an iphone to someone unless their ability & knowledge is limited and they need a fool proof but over priced technology (people like technophobes and the aged)

I ordered the S4, and will try it out for a few weeks. I've read some complains about the S4 going extremely hot and it has some lag issues, so I'll see how it goes.

Received my S4 last week and I must say I'm just amazed. I had a Wave 1 before and, while technically a smartphone, I would say it was like going from a Amiga500 to a PC running Win7.
The S4 is fast as hell, never had any hickups or lags. Looks pretty good, even without an aluminium body. Got alot of space, now that I added a 64GB sd-card. And if the battery gets shitty in a year or so I can easily exchange it for a new one.
Before I ordered it I went to a shop and got a hands-on with some other phones because I wasn't sure which one to get. The choice was pretty much between the S4 or the HTC One. But after I compared the feeling of the One and the S4 the S4 won.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of aluminium bodies (the Wave 1 had a full aluminium body) but, I don't know, the One just felt cheaper than the S4. No idea why.
And then considering the downsides too: No SD-Slot and no exchangeable battery I chose the S4 and I don't regret it in any way.

I find that Wifi draws the most power on my S3, might want to turn Wifi off when not in use, if you have that on.

Just bought myself a leather case for it. I'm not that clumsy that I need a bumper if I hold it in my hands. Only when carrying it in my pocket or taking it out of it I accidently threw my old phone on the ground.

Yeah, it's big a** display is nice though. But way to big for me, it wouldn't even fit my jeans pockets

I tty that cheers. I rarely use wifi as i have an unlimited plan. It is always on though.

Anither thing about the iPhone is how hot it gets when playing games. Not sure if all phones are the same.

My droid razrmax gets warm enough to feel it on my leg when its in the pocket of coverall's, with jeans underneath and in an otterbox case, if there's no 4g signal.  I assume its from searching.  Any CPU heavy apps also cause it to warm up, not quite as much as lack of 4g tho.  Drains the battery so fast that I have disables 4g from the super-secret service menu.

Personally I would never get anything from apple. Their policies are just too strict for me to like.

I don't like when EVERYONE  holds same phone, that's why i bought DELL Venue, SEXY but it's single core and going to upgrade.
What about Sony Xperia ZL C6506 Black 4G LTE Quad-Core 1.5 GHz 16GB Unlocked Cell Phone ?

well...smartphones arent about designs, thats bullshitt and you know it,thats the iwhore talking.
people dont buy smarthphones because of design, they buy it of the hw specs thats improving every year, atleast when it comes to android, since we like to do alot with our phone.

regarding the plastic thingy on Samsung galaxy, its ofcourse opinion wise,my contract on my s3 has run out,so I can get new phone aswell, tho Im not that in ned for a new phone.
let me talk from experience,I have owned my s3 now for 1year and its overall pretty good, battery can be charged every other day,but thats not important since I usually just plug it in when I come anyways.
but I take my phone to the gym when I workout and sometimes i drop it,and the freefall i usuall 190cm to 2meter. I do get some scratches on my back cover from drops, sometimes the phone hits on the glass,I have a little scratch on my glass, but thats from when i got my phone back from service, and they say that it was there and they only polished the screen and the scratch came up.

Even tho my S3 is mostly out of plastic except the innerds,I dont think of my phone as cheap, the plastic makes my phone durable.

the s4 is a nice choice,it has 2gb ram contra s3 with only 800mb ram,it got quad core 1.9ghz,atleast in norway,it got better battery then s3,some small UI changes, but its the ram and cpu and battery you should look out for.

Our species is comprised of about half females.   You've seemingly forgotten this, or are woefully unaware of their prioritys when purchasing products.

Great comparison of the two best phones on the market.
Man, I personally wouldn't know what to pick, Samsung seem to be rocking some really cool features whereas the HTC One looks and feels extremely premium.

personally I preferred the feel of the Xperia Z over both the One and the S4
the One has an HDMI out which I found very useful on my old phone. The differences between flagship Android phones will almost always be minimal

I was torn between the s4 and the HTC One went with the One and not dissappointed it is an outstanding phone. The Iphone does not have a look in compared to the samsung and the HTC, they are the way forward both have benefits and drawbacks so it just down to you preference really!

I dont like the look of the one, but thats personal choice.  My wife used to have samsung phones all the time till she switched to blackberry and I hated every one of them.  I am sold by the S4 though and so far its in the front running for my next upgrade (the wife can have my iphone :giggle:)

I've had my GS4 now for a few days and I have to say it's hell of a phone. It's really quick, the multitasking is really good.
But I've also had some problems, the phone froze when I entered Contacts, but it was fixed after a reboot.

That's not true to be honest on both parts. People in this forum and on a lot of internet sites use their phones for a lot but, the people on this forum and on many internet sites are fairly computer savvy and willing to spend the time doing it all. The bulk of the users use their camera and games and that's about it.
I am fairly sure that Google will be making all its money  back from their free phone OS though the market place.

Most people don't give a crap about specs. All that matters is screen size and how the phone looks. You increase the specs so people will talk about it and say one is better then the other in the hope that the people who know next to nothing about phones, will stumble upon one of the forums and go "ill take that phone".

I'd say the SGS4. Throw a custom rom and kernel on it and it'll fly. Currently using omega 7 w/ ktoonz kernel, oc'd slightly to 1944mhz, gpu @ 545, undervolted a lot. Working great!
