I don't have that much knowledge about this stuff, but is there any point in using a VPN and a proxy? I just got the one from privateinternettaccess.com and it seems good. But they don't have ssh on the socks5 proxy. So should I only go for the VPN solution?

Kind regards, LG

I think with just a vpn service you should be fine for the new norwegian laws

Something to bear in mind (but im not a 100% on this) is that if you choose say an norwegian vpn, the police and justice department might be able to demand your details in order to get to you.
An international vpn might be recomended. Although, you are yet to see how this new law turns out. Sweden have had it for 2 years now and I think there been like 5 cases of piracy dragged to court.

Another option is using TOR network which is open source and completely untraceable. TOR browser bundle is easy to use www.torproject.org.in/projects/torbrowser.html.en

Yeah, I figured I should stay away from Norwegian ones. So atm I'm using one from the Netherlands and one in Switzerland. So far, the speed has been pretty decent, getting about 2,4 mb's from the one in the Netherlands.

Just too bad all my internet traffic has to go by the VPN. At some point, I guess I'll set up a VM and run torrents and VPN on that instead.

privateinternetaccess makes it literally impossible to give you up to the authorities. even if they wanted to, they have no idea who connects to their servers and they share IPs. Their node in sweden should be nice for norway.

How about http://www.unblock-us.com/

Will that be secure enough when it comes to downloading torrents ?
