why?
i can make a bank transaction using simple bank transfer via SWIFT or WesternUnion etc.
i just need all the data: bank id, reciever id, payments instruction.
i'm not a big fish... so, i don't think that the authorities, FATF or angry aliens from another dimension will trackback on me.
But do you want to be the front man for a criminal organization? That is the question. You're not a big fish but what will you do if the authorities come and break down your door?
By the way, Paypal is the reason why donations can't be made
Guys 0 to do with me. I gave up all aspects of staffing when tokol and sniper decided VBG was more important to the site. I wanted him gone they chose him, so i left. So since then 0 to do with me folks. Personally i would've funded the site for as long as needed. Shit happens though.
Never liked him either. It's kinda "funny" thought that this site is possibly closing its doors because of him.
Well... if I have to blame someone, I prefer people I don't like
I'm struggling to reconcile Tokol's and BoB's opinions/comments.
While I am a member of other sites, this is easily my longest membership (including predecessors..) and favourite.
Serious question guys - if the worst comes to the worst, will the site just disappear or will we have at least some notice?
I am sure there will be notice given of closure if it comes to that. I don't see them just closing the doors. If people are lost for a site to go to then my site will take the entire user base to keep everyone together if there is interest. There are already plenty of members there from here already.
But.... It might not come to that yet although it looks kinda bleak
Maybe itīs time to re-think the technical concept of TB. What cost most money to host, the forum or the tracker? What alternatives to traditional torrent-tracker file sharing are there today?
This is a new service Iīm currently using myself to sync large files between computers. It uses bittorrent, works without a cloud service and support unlimited file sizes. Maybe something similar can be used where uploaders have write access and users can control which files are downloaded. It would not cost anything to host, accept a system to track the keys, and a forum/comment system. But it would not need to be a key for every file (like traditional torrent services), but maybe for each category/folder. I donīt know, just brain storming..

Google Wallet ? Amazon Payments ?
I know of at least 3 sites using these. Also a lot of well known sites are still using Paypal.
I don't get it ? We want to give you money. I can send cash in a jiffy bag if you want.
Barclays ? They the biggest money launderer in the world (apart from the BOE.)

This sites paypal accounts keep getting frozen. Simple as that. Staff hint at pissed off users reporting them to paypal but the actual reason i don't know. But if the account gets frozen then all money within it is null and void until such a time that paypal release the account, so sending money to it becomes pointless. Making a new one has been done, more than once as i understand.

dumb question: Cant we send directly money to the services provider? (guess not but just in case no one was dumb enough to ask it).
Parts 1 and 2 at the same time: Jackpot winner or not no one would make any random user admin just cause they paid the bills, VIP maybe. No you can't send money directly to providers, they take 1 payment, its not a pot fund, you walk into a shop you dont pay a bit and the person behind you pays a bit more, you pay it all or you don't get what you want. If you wish to crowdsource said funds, you sort it then pay in a lump sum again. These providers are not supporting piracy or this site, they don't care if it stops. They are selling a service, in this case servers/hardware/bandwidth.

Sorry if i wasn't clear but what I meant by this is not me becoming a admin (i don't want that kinda responsibility) but rather me going to see a admin in person and give him cash money to support the site.
sorry for my unclearness (English is not my 1st language)

One torrent site that i know is funded by sending money directly to service provider. Then the service provider just mails or something to staff how many months are paid...
Edit: ecatel.net service provider for that site. Paypal/Moneybookers/Bank Transfer/Send money in letter to ecatel.net (ID needed in message so it goes to right "account") <- how its done.

I can clarify some of that from when I was staff. The paypal account was first frozen due to an issue with a donor on site raising a concern with their bank and the bank contacted paypal, when that was lifted the account was then frozen permanently with a 6 month wait on all funds due to illegally sharing XXX files. A case was then raised and I personally fought that case while funding the site from my own pocket for some time. Now there was funds in the paypal so as far as I was concerned I would be re reimbursed, that was never an issue though as I would have happily funded this site over and beyond for as long as ever needed. Issues are still on going with myself and paypal.
Now the issue isn't paypal freezing anything its someone stepping up and managing donations via whatever means. Yes chances are if using pay pal the account will be frozen as TBy has a high yield in donations when asked. But it boils down to someone having the cahoonas (as said before) to step up and stick their neck on the chopping block. There aren't many people willing to take that risk, who can blame them.
There are some who are happy for others to be mislead and put their neck on the line but the simple bottom line is a paper trail and a name which leads to a site owner, bills paid and income for the site etc.
Now I could span out the past 5 or so years history of the site, income & outgoing etc but I am not posting to damage the site I just feel some form of transparency at this point is needed. All the potential donation options and suggestions wont matter a jot without someone fronting it and putting themselves at risk.
I left staff with utter contempt, however seeing the site close is the last thing I want, change was never going to happen while I was there, to be honest a good bloody clear out of top level staff is needed and that wasn't ever going to happen. I include myself in that equation, and perhaps I was the problem. However my personal feelings don't come into this. TBy was always a community first and that is it's strength. hopefully there will be a solution soon.
First, BoB, thanks! I've never been really active on the forums but I care about this site cause it's always been providing the absolutely best service. Only tracker that managed to make my HD speed the DLing-bottleneck! But yeah, transparency is just what we need, I'm sure we can find some sort of solution.
Does the host accept AlertPay or some less up-in-their-assy e-wallets? I'm sure we got some swedes here, contact the pirate bay guys and ask for tips on how they do it. Could we register as some sort of NPO?
e; or could we just switch the host to one that accepts some bitcoin, litecoin etc. payments?
The main problems being that the host only accepts PayPal or Bank Transfer (I think)
Since PayPal is not an option and Bank Transfer leaves an easy paper trail. . . . .

There are others. Depends on what bill though.
Paypal is linked to a bank account so the risk is the same as using bank transfer. If paypal deem your activity as illegal they are bound by the same rules as a bank. Someone has to be linked to something in order to take in donations and pay tvem out.
Edit: all site ills can be paid via bank transfer. Im sure most online funding options can do that
I donīt really understand how the bills are payed right now but what about this:
*Open an account somewhere where people can donate (other than paypal)
*Put the donate button on a complete different site that cannot be tracked to this site
*Admin 1 transfer the money to a bitcoin service and buy bitcoins for as much as needed each month
*Maybe transfer the bitcoins to another bitcoin service (if possible), donīt know exactly how they are tracked.
*Admin 1 send bitcoins to admin 2
*Admin 2 sell bitcoins to real money and pay the bills
The idea is to buy and sell bitcoins with some minutes in between. It should vary as much down as up in the long run during that short interval. My steps was just an example that there are probably untrackable solutions available that is not that difficult to implement. If my steps are untrackable I donīt know but maybe.
And to "link" to another site without digital trace, just put up an image that says: "This site is good" or something.
Since someone in the inner circles is currently doing the payments out of their own pocket, wouldn't it be reasonable to set up a P.O box where users can send cash? I know sending cash is somewhat risky, especially from outside the country, but I imagine there are more than a few Finns on this site.

what part of "no one wants to put their name to the sites income" do people not understand ? Every suggestion requires someone to do just that.
I am also pretty sure that even PO Boxes have rules about being used for the collection of illegal income.
