HUGO CHAVEZ, FIERY VENEZUELAN LEADER, DIES AT 58

not sure what sort of immediate impact this will have, but should be an interesting few months as the power vacuum gets filled.

Indeed, it's interesting to see if USA is able to now infiltrate the process and affect the end result significally.
Could be atleast something the republicans can agree with obama !

Who're the major players in Venezuela?

the world runs on oil and they have a shit ton of it, so all sides of the political spectrum knows (openly or otherwise) we got to do what we got to do. My bigger worry is Cuba who is entirely reliant on Chavez with oil and aid where this can mean either a faster loosening of their communism to bring in capital or in the worst case scenario another boat lift trying to get rid of their excess baggage on us.

what is your point? Do you think these are things that are unknown to me? The majority of third world dictators were a direct result of US meddling in foreign affairs such as Venezuela etc.
You mistake me for some uninformed fox news watching American. I am not and that does not change my opinion of those I named earlier. Castro my opinion comes directly from Cubans who managed to get out of the country, my opinion of Guevara and Chavez are based on public record and history books. I also know better than to take a mocumentary by Stone or Moore as the gospel unbiased truth as well.

It was a friendly suggestion   scumbag dictator? ok but how will you call a US president then ?
And also don't  mistake me for some guy who just saw a documentary. I read also, a lot.

Anyway RIP one more time. And this qoute for the end.

I am convinced that the path to a new, better and possible world is not capitalism, the path is socialism.

The problem with that phrase is that it was not socialism, it was "Chavezocialism". The country with the highest inflation rate, thousands of homicides per year, expropiations, media closures, etc..

You wouldn't be so soft with him if you were living in Venezuela.

A democratically elected scumbag?

Seriously that link you posted only touches on a little of the well documented (read not CIA or Fox news made up facts) crimes this guy was responsible. People romanticise him the same as they did with Guevara as the little man revolutionary standing up to the man (USA) and giving him the finger. Every time I see some little commie bastard with a t-shirt with that image on it I want to slap the shit out of them, sit them down and make them read the accounts of him executing people.  As I said the USA has and continues to reap the rewards of failed foreign policy that they sowed in the 70's and 80's with Chavez, Hussain, Gaddafi to mention only a few. You think we would have learned from supporting these wack jobs.

I agree with this, i hate when young people buys a t-shit of Che but they don't even know who was he and don't  know any history of him.

Anyway its interesting how Venezuela says that Hugo was poised just like Yasser Arafat.
I found interesting that cancer loves south Americans politician  Brazil’s Ex-President  Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff, Argentinian President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, Bolivian president Juan Manuel Santos Calderón, Hugo Chavez...

Unfortunately, she doesn't have it.

Because they speak frankly and truthfully?    If you think the politicians from wherever you live don't base thier decisions on oil you're naive.

No, politics from wherever i live don't base their decisions on oil... We could base our decisions on air and it would turn out the same!
We don't have an army, we don't have oil, so what do we have to say on the oil markets? Nada...

That being said, although i'm definitively not a Chavez supporter, i hope the "American freedom heroes" get their asses burned real bad the minute they step on Venezuela. If they decide to do so, that is...

Feelings, nothing more than feelings,
trying to forget my feelings of love.
Teardrops rolling down on my face,
trying to forget my feelings of love.

Hope you are aware that more than a few people around the world, although being peaceful and law abiding ppl, wish the exact same thing to some of the Americans...

of course in the face of logic and facts that's what most people without a leg to stand on will reply.

To not care what someone thinks is fine but to ignore actual facts that demonstrate the character and behaviour of a person is just ignorant.

Was he not elected and how can he be a dictator then? Aslo the turn-out of how many people that voted was around 80% in last election. Not as high as in Sweden last election (84%). 80% seems like more democratic than the U.S where only 50-60% of the population votes and the election is between a deuce and a turd.

I mean sure he had some controversial ways but he still was elected by the people.

Yup so ''frankly and truthfully'' you back up guys like :

Fulgencio Batista - Cuba
Anastasio Somoza García  - Nicaragua
Rafael Leonidas Trujillo (this one was a marines)  -   Dominican Republic
Augusto Pinochet  - Chile
Ferdinand Marcos  -   Philippines
Mohammad Reza Pahlavi   -  Iran

...you back-up and keep those type of puppets in function up to the point that the people are willing to follow the most populist and anti-american leader they can find.Guys like  Fidel Castro ,Hugo Chavez ,Daniel Ortega,Ruhollah Khomeini are nothing but the result of your political games.

...I almost forgot to mention Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein at a certain moment in time they were yours too.

The truth is that the people didn't live very well in Venezuela but anything is better then to be a slave of US and A.

Chavez is not a dictator, he gave support to people that definitely are, like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or Alexander Lukashenko. But these notorious tyrants Chavez did not support the conviction, but out of sheer defiance toward the United States.
