It's all a bit fantasy I suppose so you have to take that leap, but for TV it's a pretty easy one to make in my opinion.

I'm not exactly up on US law but that's the one part of the story that really bugs me. I mean if he's eventually found out won't that really have a damaging effect on the firm and taint the cases he's been involved in?
I guess he's not A fake District Attorney which would be a massive problem but still I kinda wish he was a real lawyer just one who lied about graduating from Harvard. They'll have to resolve this one day and I wonder how they'll do it.

Yes, that's why they're keeping it a secret.
And there are stories of doctors who've been practising medicine for years turning out to not have degrees and stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if it were the same for lawyers having never passed the bar.

In the first season he helped that woman who then later haked harvard to put him on the databases and gave him a certificate right? That put together with him being able to learn anything should stop him being found out.. I think that's how they've addressed the whole issue of him not really being a lawyer. Downloading s2e1 now

Of course but why bother taking the risk? It seems so utterly pointless. If the shit hits the fan Mike goes to jail and the firm is in big trouble and all that cause Harvey liked the kid, really!

It's can't be. If you're represented by a lawyer in a case and you later find out that guy wasn't a lawyer then the verdict is brought into question. So it's grounds for appeals, potentially overturned verdicts and the firm possibly having to refund it's clients.

Well they haven't as the season opener shows. If he gets found out now it's now leverage too.

Who take the risk? Mike has massive gains, gets paid tonnes of money and gets to live a life he obviously enjoys a lot (we don't know if that story of his parents dying in a car crash is true... maybe?). As Harvey explains in 2x01 he likes living an exciting and risky life instead of the boring following the rules shit, also he sees how great a lawyer Mike is, and sees something of himself in Mike (so he wants to be brotherly, protective of him and helpful towards him). Gina Torres is now being black-mailed by Harvey. And nobody else knows.

Dude, it's a TV show!

Well Mike could end up in jail, 5 years is the maximum sentence and I'm not sure the risk is worth the gain given that there's enough people who now know his secret don't forget about the ex-friends. As for Harvey this could take him down all it takes is a creative D.A and suddenly everyone who knew about Mike are co-conspirators I dunno defrauding clients Even if that doesn't happen it'll definitely take his career down especially if it negatively impacts the firm. I dunno I'd have just paid for the kid to go to Law school and hire him as an intern or something cause what they're doing seems nuts to me.

I know I know and I love the show but I can't help wishing that they'd fix that bit of it everytime I see Mike represent the firm, sorry!

I do question why they don't do this sometimes.
The only conclusion I come to is that it's simply too late, he's been hired. If he has to go off and do it legit then comes back again, people (Lewis, or Gina Torres before this latest ep, or various enemies of the firm/Harvey) could start investigating, find out the rules were already broken then get everybody fired/ruin the firm...

Agreed! I don't think they've adequately explained how much of a scandal it is. I mean possibly I'm blowing it out of proportion especially in this TV universe or perhaps it's as serious as I suspect and will be an even bigger plot point this season with that new potentially evil dude finding out.
I like that almost each character has a tad bit of asshole in them, not enough to make you not like them, but enough that they'll sometimes make decisions that keep the story interesting and ever-changing.
Except Jenny, she was just awesome!
But yeah, show about smart people that isnt a COP/detective show = win in my books.
The reason I started watching the show was because of the actor that plays Louis Litt (I loved him in Jake in Progress), and I'm so glad I did cause this show is refreshing compared to some of the junk thats been airing this year.
Got recomended this show just recently, once i watched the first episode i actually saw the whole first season in ONE sitting. It is a great, fictional show lol.
I agree that since all the "paper work" is in place for his degree no one can dispute it no matter who tells on him, or rats him out. But the excitment of him able of being caught is what makes the show too.
I also excited that i laid my hands on 1080 copy of the new season =)
This show will hopefully replace Breaking Bad after it's last season. It's up there imo atleast.
Talking of Breaking bad i find it funny that it's the polite meth professor that will be the new "bad guy" in suits.
EDIT i agree with Sillent above me too =))
EDIT II : Fuck could not wait for the 1080, I am soooooooooooooo weak. Watching s2ep2 now lol =)

So interesting episode, this secret could take down the firm according to Harvey and Mike is willing to give up Rachel to keep it, fuck that shit I'd lie to that woman for the rest of my life if need be, he's nuts!
