So who is playing the beta? Im enjoying it alot and i think its quite supperior to all previous arts/moba games out there even with the limited hero pool we have atm. Cant wait until it is released so i can play with more of my friends.

#1471236 by newb001Donor (Power User) at 2012-04-14 04:22:51 (1 year ago) - [Report]Top

Just finished downloading it now. My friend has been playing for a week and just now realised he had 6 invites!!

#1471237 by unknown[447651] at 2012-04-14 04:23:12 (1 year ago) - [Report]Top

been in the beta since it was released

boring playing the same heroes all the time

played dota 1 for like 5-6 years and playing 2 is just like doing the same shit with better gfx and a better courier system

dota 1s a better game atm

There are still people who haven't got a key? Damn! Oh well it's not like I have invites. Good luck getting one I suppose.

Don't really play myself(don't get me wrong, it's the best of it's genre imho) just don't have any time. Willing to sell my steam acc for 30 bucks or so.

Since there is a very clear lack of any proper tutorial, I get absolutely smashed because I have no idea which items to pick, or champions for that matter.

And the game looks worse than Minecraft on my PC.
(No hate against Minecraft, I like that game)

Watch some pro players streams. joindota.com for example lists the popular players. Check some guides, play vs bots to get a feel for a hero you think is cool etc. Try to learn 1 hero before moving on

The game just magically appeared on my account. Is it widely released already?

#1471899 by UrachezWarned (Power User) at 2012-04-18 12:54:43 (1 year ago) - [Report]Top

Been playing since they opened the damned thing. Too bad we'll have all the dota 1 heroes in 2015 if they keep releasing them at this rate.

A good place to watch some guides and intros to heroes. Most of their stuff is good.

Something like Veomancer is a great hero for a new player since it is a support so U don't matter that much, but u can get kills easily.

If U do wish to carry go for leoric. With 3 passives you cannot screw up too bad. Just remember, critical is usually better than leech.

Nope. You got invited to the beta for filling the survey.

To everyone in the beta: check your inventory, you probably have tons of invites to give away.

Been playing for like 5 months, 500 hours played, and I still have 0 invites to give away.

Veno should try to avoid getting kills and leave them to his carry, he is pretty easy to play decently tho i agree. Just harras with auto and setup ganks with gale.

Leoric is a decent choice if you have to play carry but definately dont pick up his lifesteal until much later in the game or your wave will autopush. Usually with skeleton king you go go for stun + stats until stun is maxed the passives aint that great early before you get some items and the extra mana from +stats is crucial since he has a pathetic manapool. Rush soul ring so that you always have mana for ult and stun when you really need it.

stun and stats for leoric? You have got to be kidding me.

You pick crit because he crits like mad and lifeleech if you want him in woods which is viable from lvl 1.

It is how most pros build him from what i have seen, without stats he only has mana for 1 stun. Crit is nice but it isnt significant until you start getting some dmg items anyway while 2-3 points in stats early give you abit of everything you need in the earlygame.

It's very rare that a SK plays as a jungler so the best build usually actually is Stun and Stats. Crit is to low dmg on low lvl's and leech is useless and just pushes the lane which you don't want. You also want a bigger mana pool for when you are lvl 6 so you have enough mana for ankh even if you threw a stun

Lol, you get a soul ring and pop it prior to dying to activate ult...
Also pop it when in need of mana for that extra stun.
I would never go stun + stats. Usually only 1 stat on stun since the duration doesnt increase.

That is just stupid. If anything you should level stun first and crit second. A 300 damage (including the DoT) stun that also slows is way better than spending points on lifesteal early game.
Stun and stats is probably the better choice, though.

Edit: a lifesteal that pushes your lane, I should add.

The lifesteal pushes your lane unwillingly since your creeps will survive your opponents.

There are different strategies that work, not just one. I'm undefeated with Leoric.

edit: oh, you meant the lifesteal was a negative choice. I misinterpreted what you wrote.

You can level lifesteal for woods which is great. Or you level crit and stun when laning but never stats.
Soul ring is really all you need to survive the mana shortage.

I'd really love a beta key if someone has a spare one, would be glad as hell to get one to be honest. Please give me a PM and I'll reply with email or whatever it is required.

Regards Vandy.

I got an invite too but the problem is that I haven't filled out a survey or anything. I know this because I have no interest in Dota 2 or any game in that subgenre, I don't play those type of games.
I honestly have no clue how I got the invite (someone might've sent it to me?), I checked my email, Steam had emailed me about it, booted up Steam and there it was in my library.. It's pretty weird, to be honest.

I can't gift it either since it's in my library and not a gift. I would gladly do so if I could since a lot of people seem to want to play it and it's wasted on me.

I have been playing HON for two years now. Anyone have an invite to share?
