Mby instead of being a cheapskate just buy the damn thing plus some games. It's a decent device worth the price, not to mention the PSN Plus subscription offers 3 very good titles atm: Uncharted, Gravity Rush and Mortal Kombat. Handheld gaming doesn't really have much momentum going atm, thanks to all the iOS and Android crap, so go ahead and kill it off by pirating everything, I'm sure you will enjoy your Angry Brids 12 in 2015.
What are you talking about..
The hacking is about using PSP Iso's and about playing PS1 and PS2 games on the VITA.
There are already many PS1 and PSP in the PSN store, although the latter are quite overpriced. PS2 games are not going to happen, imo Sony wants to milk it and will be announcing some "PS Vita golden edition" crap. Nevertheless, give props to Sony for actually releasing the device, cause no one in the industry (not talking fanboys) was expecting to see a PSP successor given the current mobile market. If this thing reaches the level of PSP piracy than there is no way we will be seeing another handheld device from Sony.
Look, I enjoy playing with CFW as well but don't bs me with homebrew talk, especially after saying that you want to emulate older systems. My initial post wasn't meant to be offensive, just wanted to point out that mobile market is tough, Sony isn't doing particularly well atm and the Vita is a decent device worth your support. So don't be shortsighted and consider buying the system plus some games while you wait for the firmware.
I've had a Vita for about a month now and I can't help but think it's a system with tons of potential. (Queue fanboy jibes). I do understand the general consensus that there are not enough games on Vita, and while to some extent I do agree, but for the first time in a long time I have the motivation to try and get the most out of each game I purchase.
I do hope that developers don't give up on the platform, and Sony can figure out a way to price drop to about £150.
An honorable mention has to go to Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed which was hidden amongst oranges and socks in my stocking, caused such a riot with the family on Xmas day!
