Saw it on display in the gamestore today. Was so tempted! But I strained myself. Will wait until I actually "need" it. The screen looked nice and sharp though. Didn't get the chance to try it out myself, but it looked good.
Screen is pretty stunning but I really dislike the menu system. Sorry guys, have tried taking videos but just turns out blurry and washed out. Charging my real camera up overnight so will try tomorrow if I find time. Uncharted looks phenomenal - people thinking why does the Vita exist when so many good games are on iOS/Android? Uncharted will show the Vita has a place in this world!
It feels and plays like a real console game and I get the sense it will be just as long as one and not super duper fun for 30min... and then that's the end of the game. The sound seems pretty good too - at full volume it's not terribly loud but face it, you're likely to be playing this out and about - at work, on the tube, on the bus, on your breaks... You're gonna head earbuds in anyway so it's not really an issue.
One thing that bugs me a little is the Vita turns the wifi off after a rather short period of inactivity and then when you do something that needs net access, it takes about 10 seconds to reconnect to WiFi again. It's a short period of time but it's long enough to be slightly annoying. On the flip side, I dare say it helps massively when it comes to saving battery for actual gaming.
I own:
Uncharted = Awesome
Ridge Racer = Utter fucking shittity shitness of the shit. Uber shit. Sometimes when games are so bad they are good, but this one is so SO bad that it's actually really fucking bad. Waste of £16 simoleons.
Motorstorm RC = For a £5 game it's really good and it looks pretty decent on the Vita. Controls seem a little odd but overall, but a £5 game it's a must have for the Vita. Plus you buy it once and can also get it free on the PS3 or vice versa Formula 1 2011 = Not arrived yet... I am so fucking hyped for it though! Graphics don't look as good as I think they should, but it's the gameplay that matters.
Next purchases:
Plants vs Zombies = Okay, here's the deal. PvZ is a MUST HAVE game on any platform, and I want it on the Vita since I'm a huge fan of it. But when I already spent £10 for it on 360, on the iPad, the iPhone AND my Android, do I really wanna spend another £8.99 on the Vita version? What really pisses me off is it's no different to the £2-3 version on iPhone/iPad so why the fuck are we being ripped off for another £5?
Angry Birds = Nowhere to be seen. WTF Rovio?! The biggest and newest console on the market and you are not ready or even have anything officially announced?
Fieldrunners = PSP version, not Vita optimised. For £4 it's still a worthy buy, but it's much the same story as PvZ... Do I really wanna buy a game I already own multiple times on multiple other platforms? Mehh...
Wipeout = Demo is bloody awesome. Looks truly incredible on the Vita's screen. Smooth gameplay, stunning visuals, fun game. But at £30 it's no longer 'arcade-money-territory' but big commercial blockbuster game price (almost...)
people thinking why does the Vita exist when so many good games are on iOS/Android? Uncharted will show the Vita has a place in this world!
Only Yinchie thinks that. Toild him months ago Tegra 3 based systems is going to suck balls compared to Vita in terms of performance. And now with facts in hand I was right.
Playing games on phones sucks much, if you want to do some casual gaming you need to get a PS Vita or a Nintendo 3Ds. The only problem is going to be the development of games. If the development does not pick up speed the Vita will turn out just like the Sony PSP.
If some good RPGs gets released for the Vita I'll be sure to pick it up. But for now I think I will wait for the price to drop.
Totally agree about games on phones sucks but they are pretty darn awesome for emulated games I've got to admit. PSP vita looks really good though.
Never been a hand held gamer but that Uncharted game looks sweet and I wouldn't mind borrow it for a day and play that game alone!
checked into the vita after hearing some hype as i've never been a hand held guy, had game boy color years ago but that was it. anyways it looked pretty neat, but with at $50+ ea games, it being first gen and me never playing a psp i got a psp instead the graphics especially on that small of a screen can't be that much better.
$150, for a mint psp 3001 and 5 games w/ most games like $7-$12 on amazon.... couldn't pass that up not even knowing if i'd like a handheld at all.
edit: and yes, even the best phones today the games still blow, controls are fucking awful....

£258.69 if you order the amazon bundle thingy, so there's another 10 off (No case though). Here Incase the above link doesn't work, which I think it should:Click here! And I don't even need the case, cause I randomly won one in a giveaway, so it's just lying here for now.
I should have mentioned that I do live in Norway, and would have to pay extra customs when importing this.
I guess it's quite an ok price then. It would cost 2717kr (302£) for the parts separately, so theres 200 (22) saved at least. Think i'm gonna put in my order when the next payment rolls in.
So what is the verdict? Do you still enjoy playing the Vita or was it just a gimmick?
I still play it but my biggest criticism is where the fuck are the games FFS?! They had an "ok" games lineup for launch and then there's been a VERY slow trickle of frankly unimpressive games. There's been some 'arcade' games that have been immense fun though, like Motorstorm RC & Pure Chess, but I'm massively frustrated at the lack of new blockbuster releases, though hopefully LittleBigPlanet will be released soon to ease my pain. And then there was the announcement of a Vita Assassins Creed.
The Vita needs some lifelines though - the only "OMFG WOW" game on the platform imho is Uncharted - the platform needs more lifelines. Assassins Creed is just one of those - it *needs* Gran Turismo, God of War, they need to make sure the new Need for Speed gets an optimised Vita version that's every inch as good as the console ones, and all the other big massive titles.
I really expected Playstation to have a constant stream of titles arrive to their new baby but quite frankly they have fucked up and dropped the ball. The console is fantastic - it truly is an incredible bit of kit, but it is sorely let down by the lack of games and PAINFUL lack of big titles.
Ok so Im about to get me a Vita. Can you install the games you order on the memory card or do you have to switch cards or something?
I know you can buy games from the PS store and install on the memory card.
And yeah there is God of War for the PS Vita. Just check the PS store and you can buy God of War Ghost of Sparta
That's not a PS Vita game. It's a PSP game but they've added a little magic to make it play on the Vita... Graphics will still be shitty PSP quality though.
I have a few physical games - need to swap cards to play each one though which kinda sucks, but to install each one you'll end up needed several memory cards over the next few years so means more cost.

Yeah its a psp game. But that does not make it a bad game.
So I ordered me a PS Vita, Uncharted and a 32gb memory card (expensive like hell!).
Was going to order gravity rush but it was cheaper on the PS store and pretty much every game is. So I got me gravity rush, katamari, everybodys golf and modnation racers.
Sorry, can't recommend any PSP RPG's for two reasons. I'm generally not a big fan of most RPG and I will never be buying a PSP game for my PSVita - if I wanted to play PSP games I woulda got a PSP well before the PSV came out
Gravity Rush looks good. The demo was bizarre, but in a fun way. Never played anything like it!
I own:
Formula 1 - Graphics are below par for what console is capable of, gameplay not as good as expected/hoped for
Uncharted - Gorgeous graphics, great gameplay, same Uncharted we're used to and love
Plants vs Zombies - I own it legit on iPad, Android & 360... But I *needed* it on the PSV - looks amazing in OLED
Ridge Racer - Honestly the worst piece of shit racing game I've ever played
Pure Chess - Graphics are stunning and perfect. Really captures the challenge & love of chess
Motorstorm RC - Such a fan game that plays amazingly well on the Vita
Want:
LittleBigPlanet
LittleBigPlanet Karting
Doctor Who Eternity Clock
Gran Turismo (it'll happen... or it had better!)
Call of Duty
5 months long no message>?
i ordered it, it's coming 11 in the morning?
no hack yet?
What sucks with the Vita is that no games is being released for it. The top titles are all over 5 months old and does not look like any new games are coming out soon either.

I've not touched it at all in about 3-4 months. There are some good games out - Littlebigplanet Karting looks good, Littlebigplanet, Most Wanted, CoD etc.
I bought the device when it was released simply because I got it so cheap through work. Only games I have bothered to play are Escape Plan and Little Big Planet. Tried few others but none have been interesting.
It's a useless device without any games. I can use internet with my phone (better, if I might add). Same with videos, music etc. Meh.

Mby instead of being a cheapskate just buy the damn thing plus some games. It's a decent device worth the price, not to mention the PSN Plus subscription offers 3 very good titles atm: Uncharted, Gravity Rush and Mortal Kombat. Handheld gaming doesn't really have much momentum going atm, thanks to all the iOS and Android crap, so go ahead and kill it off by pirating everything, I'm sure you will enjoy your Angry Brids 12 in 2015.
