The reason for the 2 month delay between Asia / Others is pure and simply down to production and demand... Sony simply cannot make enough consoles for a worldwide release.

Sony has ditched the UMD format and instead will distribute games and software by means of their new 'Playstation Vita' card format, essentially a modified SD card with additional security/encryption.
Sony have also created another new memory card format - the "PS Vita Memory Card" which will be used for, well... "stuff" - music, movies, downloaded games etc. Sony have said the move to create a new format is to ensure everyone is on a stable field. For instance, with micro sd cards you have class 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 speed etc and the gaming experience on the slower speed cards will suffer - that much is true. That being said, this is more of an excuse than anything else because Sony could have used SD cards but have a 'speed test' run on newly inserted cards to ensure they are 'up to par'. The new memory card has a very similar form factor to the M2 - Personally I believe the inners will be exactly the same, but with a new casing which will force you to buy new cards... The move is nothing but a bid for Sony to squeeze every single penny out of their customers. Well, they lost billions during the whole month PSN went down so they gotta recoup their losses somehow, right?

You may be shocked to know that a Gran Turismo title has not been confirmed. I'm positive there will be one in the future but I half expected it to be a major launch title to attract people to the new console.
This is a toy for young kids, or for people in the army ! Probably it will be hacked the first month of the release i simply don't see the point of invensting in a device like this.

Its for people who like playing games on phones. Like I predicted months ago this kicked Tegra 3s ass in terms for performance. So if you want something more advanced and better looking than angry birds this is the way to go.

Yeah! why would anyone want a powerful gaming console in their pocket?

yeah i can play battlefield 3 and diablo 3 on this ! Hell yeah ! U kiddin right ? is just a handheld to kill some time somewhere where u don't have access to a proper pc ! Or do u enjoy to play 3d games on 5'inches ? ffs If u like it by all means buy it i don't care im just saying my opinion take it or leave it

Eh? As opposed to killing some time somewhere where u do have acess to a full sized console, god why would anyone wanna do that? Oh yeah games are kinda fun.

It could probably play Diablo 3 if they scaled it down to fit lower resolutions.

Lies. Of course they can. However, it does take 4-8 weeks to ship those consoles from the place they're made... Asia....
It'd be silly to store anything up to millions of units for 8 weeks just to accomplish a worldwide release when they could start seeing a return on investment two months sooner.
Imo its not really a portable console because of size, however thats never bothered me as i always play portables in the house.
Might be the first console/hand held i wont buy at lauch because of the cost.
gonna sit back and see what games are released as i have a feeling not all of the launch titles will really be released on launch
I'd say a maximum of 4 weeks to ship, not 8 unless your using some really slow shipping line. Keep in mind it Chinese new year means a stop to production in most factories!
Joining the army for a year in August, so think I may need to get one of these. Most likely buying the Wi-Fi only model, don't really see the point of being connectable everywhere. Hoping it will be good at least.
Is it true that it wont play xvids? I want to use it for watching movies whilst flying. I take it there will be some sort of video converter out there for it?

Could you please make a video or showing how the menus work and how well it surfs the web and such.
I think I might get myself a Vita in the future.. when more titles I would want to play are out and when it works properly to play PS1, PSP and PS3 games. Hopefully it will be reduced somewhat in price by then aswell. I've never had a handheld since Gameboy colour I think and enrolling in UNI this fall so might be nice to have on the train back and forth.
I love Sony but fuck their memory cards Special made so you have to buy official overpriced ones, even the charging USB cable has to be official one to fit into the charge box lol.

give the chinese/japs a few weeks and we'll see adapters etc and usb cables at half the price
