Wow, GTA V looks amazing, I hadn't really looked much into the game up until now since I've been so busy over the year.
The trailer does make the game look incredible, especially considering it's in game footage...!
That analysis of the trailer is pretty damn good too. I haven't watched all of it yet though, I'm 46 mins through. They know an insane amount about the game, and the detail in which they describe the trailer is impressive. Thanks Xiggiduna for that link!
I can't wait it for it to come out, looks like it will be really fun to play! I'm sure the multiplayer mode will be awesome as well.
A quick question, it might be an utterly n00b question so please be gentle! Will GTA V be coming out on the PS4 and Xbox One? Since there's no mention/sign of it at the end of the trailer. I presume it will be.
Though I suppose there might be a PS4 and xbONE eventually.
Well, I just thought that if they did this they would really be limiting themselves to what will be, a few months after release, an "old" generation of consoles...! Surely not?
Personally, I'd reluctantly buy the game if I had plans of upgrading to a PS4 or Xbox One. However, I guess I'd still end up buying it since it looks so good and I'd feel that I was missing out on the online play with friends.
I've currently got an Xbox 360, and that's what I'd buy GTA V for. But, as far as I'm aware, the Xbox One doesn't have backwards compatibility (which is a real shame), meaning that if I was to get the new Xbox, my GTA V Disc would be of no use to me. But if I want to play it straight away, which I do, I'll have to do just that!
Also, I'm slightly leaning towards choosing the PS4.

Probably isn't profitable to release something without an install base.
Of course it's safe to assume the PC version will come, we can even accurately predict the date... March~May 2014. After the RDR fiasco it's always a good idea to be precautious, though.
http://www.vg247.com/2013/07/09/rocksta … -platform/ I should mention, I think if GTA 5 was being ported to the PC then it would have obviously started already, usually these kinds of things start with the development of the game. The above article about Leeds has been posted a lot recently implying that the PC port is being started, but if they're just now starting the port then it's actually a pretty bad sign.
The day Rockstar abandons the PC platform with their flagship series will be a sad day indeed.
GTA 4 was a terrible port, LA Noire was a bad port as well (but not as bad), and I never played Max Payne 3 since the game was garbage but I hear the port was okay.
I only pray Rockstar doesn't let one of their lesser-known studios (cough cough TORONTO) ruin their best game to date. I still don't understand how they let GTA 4 PC hit shelves in its horrible state. I wish they had acknowledged it was a horrible port and then maybe tried to explain why it happened and what they would do to prevent it from happening in the future. At least it would give us some closure.
Map looks minuscule, thought it was supposed to be as large as San Andreas?
Did rockstar say that? Because it seems impossible.
San Andreas was huge but 80% of the map was empty desert/forest, and they even had 3 cities in that game (Los Santos, San Fierro, Las Venturas).
GTA 5 is only using one city, so for them to make the map the same size as SA's map, would be weird. It's either one massive city or one normal-sized city with more empty space than SA.
Anyway, the current GTA 5 map is made by users, based on the gameplay videos and demos shown so far. It's not complete. But I think the total size is done.
Here's a headline from 2012:
Quote:
GTA 5's map is bigger than GTA 4, San Andreas and Red Dead Redemption combined
There's a 99.9% chance this is false. lol.
Unless there are massive chunks of land rockstar has managed to keep out of the public eye.

Nah, no way R* will talk shit, what they say about their games, they actually do or have completed already. They wouldn't be saying it if it was false. The city is bigger than that map, a LOT bigger and denser than it suggests.
If you think that "map" that game sites have been developing is in anyway exact or reflective of the in game, I would seriously think again, R* do things you will not expect. They will give away little. What we have so far, isn't enough and no doubt it will stay that way. red dead went beyond expectation, this final game for this gen on these consoles, will blow us away.
This two discs for 360 with mandatory install makes it easy. 8GB for the city and the other for the missions and story content on disc. 8GB for one city is a LOT. Max payne and La noire, two games for example that used more than one disc, was not mandatory to have one of them installed.
Considering Red dead on the 360 was one disc and was a huge game, we are in for a big one....I am certain of it.
Still think it looks like shit visually as I've said back here, even in comparison with a few other "Open world" games (Sleeping Dogs, Mafia II, even their own L.A. Noire): http://www.torrentbytes.net/forum_viewt … 78#1439878
Hope the PC version at least somewhat changes that, especially hoping for a lot better viewing distance than a few hundred meters, less of a blurry mess and maybe some shadowing improvement.
It definitely shows that they are truly showing off the console version for this game though.

I'm Just hoping to god that it comes out on Pc and next gen consoles. i don't understand why they haven't told us yet. I dont think i will be getting this on this generation of consoles. It need a bit more power that a PS3 or xBox can give.

"Just how big is this world? Art director Aaron Garbut crunched the math. When you include interior and exterior spaces together, Los Santos is bigger than the worlds of Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto IV combined, with room to spare."

I guess that's how they'll make it bigger.
Yeah but SA and 4 also had interior spaces. Unless that quote is saying they count 5's interior space but not the other games'.
So 5 is going to need enough interior space to pretty much make up roughly half the size of SA and 4 combined based on the current map.
They also might be counting underwater areas in 5, but not the other games, since the water areas were actually mapped out this time. There's actually stuff down there... sunken ships, reefs, who knows what else. Whereas in SA there wasn't anything underwater, even though you could dive.
Rough estimate, the current known size of urban Los Santos in GTA 5 (which is 100% complete) makes up about 5% of the total map of RDR, SA, and GTA 4 combined. And that's being generous.
I'm assuming when he said "Los Santos" he means the entire map. Los Santos is just the city of L.A. and doesn't include the rural/mountain regions around the city.
So in order for his statement to be true, and this one also:
Quote:
Rockstar has confirmed that Los Santos, a city in San Andreas, is the setting for GTA V. Los Santos will take about half of the map, and be about the size of 2 Liberty Cities combined.
Then it means Rockstar is misleading the public with false graphics of Los Santos in their videos/promo shots. Los Santos is totally mapped, and obviously, doesn't match those quotes. The city we have now is about 1/2 the size of Liberty City from GTA 4.
Since they're talking about indoors and ocean floors, it's obvious the map is what it is and no amount of wishing will inflate it.
The gameplay video made it look as if they combined the huge San Andreas map into one area, if the one below is all we're getting. San Andreas had three large cities with loooots of countryside and desert between them. GTA5 seems to have one city with some surrounding farms that have desert/rockies area glued on.
Mayhaps expansions for San Fierro and Las Venturas areas connected via bridges? Would be in line with how modern games work.
I really disliked the rural/desert areas of San Andreas. The missions, and driving through those areas... It was just painful.
The map is surprisingly small, but not unexpected. Considering all the features they crammed into the game it's pretty obvious they had to cut down on mapsize.
I guess they wanted a balanced mixture of city/rural areas to keep gameplay interesting, since it's smaller than San Andreas it will hopefully cut down the tediousness of those empty areas.
I definitely would prefer a larger urban area, though. It's small but maybe Rockstar will find a way to cram more material into it.
Also, fuck them for lying about the map size. I remember when they announced GTA 5, the info about the map being larger than their past games' combined made me super excited.
