But seeing official confirmation that it's in the works is exciting nonetheless. Let the fun era of speculation, sneak peeks and previews begin.
I'm kind of thinking it might be coming out around Christmas next year, seeing as they already have Trailers ready and stuff again, e.g. they've been probably working on this secretly for years already and are finally ready to present what they're working on next week (it was also kinda similar with GTA IV with first Trailers coming out 2007 for the game to release 2008).
More pertinent questions would be:
Is there going to be a PC version of it this time around/if yes, do we have to wait like half a year again and is it going to be another shitty port or actually work this time?
How will it look, seeing as they didn't wait for the "Next Generation" to hit and the Xbox360/Playstation 3 are their target platforms... is there gonna be an actual improvement compared to GTA IV?

Is it perhaps possible next year microsoft and/or sony announce their new machine and unveil that GTA V will be a launch title?

I don't think so, they wouldn't have said anything/announced it yet and while they might announce one console at the E3 2012, they'd still be out no earlier than probably mid/late 2013.
Edit: I'm not that disappointed. Will play this when it arrives and probably have fun time doing it, just like with all the games in the series. Location probably could have been something new and fresh, but what the heck.
I hope this game gets back to the pick up and play of vice city ect.
For me GTA4 was a grind, with the older games you could have fun just driving about and exploring while creating chaos
whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat ? you cant even drive and shoot properly in SR2. felt like consolized arcade crap
Play SR2 then play SA.
The driving mechanics are quite similar.
Honestly, I hated GTA4's cars at first but grew to love them over time.
played SA alot and it did not flip the camera into your driving direction when you turn a corner - being able to look around while driving is something you just cant do on a console/with a controller ..stupid peasants
