Well as I said back when the thread was started I'm looking forward to every scifi show, this one included, but I still stand by my prediction that it's going to suck. When is it supposed to air anyway?
Yeah I agree, clearly I have a huge problem with the premise and just hope I'm wrong about this show cause there's never enough Sci-fi on TV.
As much as Skyline sucked it really did kinda ruin the idea of Alien Invasion for me cause that's now how I see it going down. Anyway the show airs next Sunday 19th June
It's going to be shit. You wanna know how I know? Because I have watched TV in the last ten years. Maybe more.
They are going to make a never ending (or soon cancelled) series without ever resolving anything. Today a TV show can't possibly bring a satisfying end, ever. Either it gets cancelled mid-story, or it goes on and on and leaves plotholes behind.
It will focus on the 'human drama', the 'importance of family' and 'psychological aspects'. And not on a potentially great scifi premise. There won't be anything new. It will do all the stories that have been done to death 'with a twist'.
It will feel cheap. People whose only sign of being worse for wear will be beards will run around deserted suburbia/warehouses we have seen a billion times before.
And the worst thing? You know I'm right.
I could have said it better myself, but i'll save me some time and say Yes, I agree!

I wonder what they are doing with the children, they stick this "spine" like collar on them to control them. I suspect that they then extract the spine and brain and use it control those two legged mech things. Also those skitters as they call them, they could also very well be "slaves" of another conquered race that is being controlled and used as foot soldiers by the real aliens behind it all.
Was expecting something more, average at best from my point of view
exactly!
Shows like this need to hook you with the premier show. They need to make you interested in the charactors etc. This show was a snooze and I see it being cancelled no matter whose name is attached to it if it continues like that.

Well ive always liked Noah Wyle (the ER doctor) so I guess thats why I liked it
Who is in charge at these networks?!!? Is there any doubt that this show has canceled written all over it just from this first episode? Its like nobody in Hollywood knows who the target audience is for these scifi type shows because its not middle aged housewives.
So did I. It wasn't great but I was satisfied.
The criticisms are valid though. They should have made two spectacular episodes to hook the initial viewers in.
Episode 3 looks like upping the alien content which is encouraging.
I actually had high hopes for this one. But what the fuck was this?
This was just really boring. I was bored even with the high action first minutes. I just didn't feel anything by watching this. The characters is boring. The main guy felt like a stiff-boring version of 'The walking dead's main character'.
More aliens and less human crap like having to fight outlaw criminals.
The only time I found myself interested was during the interaction with the aliens. Those huge robot things were badass.
More aliens and less human crap like having to fight outlaw criminals.
Right away I knew what this show was going to be once they went with in the whole "racist white guy gang" from the get go, there is no greater sign of lazy formulaic writing than that on American tv.

I have to admit that I thought it was a bit early for the "outlaw criminals" plot line to show up.
Maybe episode 2 should have been about an attempted rescue for the kidnapped son which could have meant some serious alien action.
They could have even made the second episode a two-part one because it wouldn't be an easy rescue.
That way the audience is hooked in for episode 3.
as slow as this felt i really doubt it's going to improve either.
We didn't get to know anything about the aliens at all except that they have robots with super slow aim, so why do i have the feeling that i don't even care about getting to know more?
I watched first season of V and i instantly wanted to know MOAR about the aliens and all, but i don't with Falling skies. I also do have the feeling that this whole show is going to be a big cliché.
that emo girl's going to fall inlove with the main-guy, but he isn't ready yet because his wife got smashed by the aliens.
We kinda don't like the commander RIGHT NOW, but we will after a while find out he isn't that bad after all. After doing something "unexpected" heroic.
and regarding the outlaws, like really, why the hell are they even in this? I WANT CONFLICTS BETWEEN THE ALIENS AND THE HUMANS and not between humans themselves.
I had actually planned to not spend more time on this, but since I've made all these accuasations i kinda have to be proven wrong ( which indeed i hope I am, because i LOVE sci-fi).
Let's hear smthin about the alien leader or somthin to make it all abit interesting and mystic.
This is where Game of thrones began BRILLIANTLY. We got to see a little something of the white-walkers which INSTANTLY got me so madly hooked only by the first scenes.
It didn't break any ratings records, but the Steven Spielberg-produced alien TNT drama series Falling Skies had a solid debut last night. The series starring Noah Wyle drew 5.9 million viewers for its 9-11 PM opener to become the most-watched cable premiere since TNT's Rizzoli & Isles (7.6 million) last summer, outpacing the October debut of AMC's The Walking Dead (5.3 million). Among adults 18-49, Falling Skies averaged 2.64 million, which fell between the premieres of Walking Dead (3.6 million) and Rizzoli & Isles (2.1 million). Falling Skies, which received mostly positive reviews, moves into its regular 10 PM slot this Sunday. Plans for a second season are already underway, with Remi Aubuchon on board as showrunner.
Sci-Fi-fans will watch half of the first season hoping it's more sci-fi, drama-fans half of it hoping there's more drama. In the end everyone will cry.
