Ha! The introduction of that new alien dude is the only reason I will be tuning into season 3 now.
the major problem is that I assume the cgi cost to put those new alien dude in must be crazy expensive (way more detailed than simple skitters or overlords) so their screen time will be next to nothing.
thats rather dull comment dont you think?
why would they introduce a new alien type if they was gonna be next to nothing for screentime for em?
me personally think they are grown up's from the skitter world, since skitters have been harnessed. So most likely this new alien will help the humans to get revenge, doubt they introduce new aliens as enemys when Earth is already overrunned by overloards and skitters.
So they go from 8 legged to 2 legged when they grow up?
More likely it is another alien race the invaders are at war with since it is evident they invade any planet they can.
And nothing says they are an ally.

that's the most idiotic thing I or anyone else in the history of humanity has ever read. why would they be from the same planet as the skitters makes no sense.
S2 moved it from "must watch" to watchable. Less family drama, more shooting and alyums. Still no hardcore super dee duper realistic gritty and great scifi though.

why?
I also think they might be from where the skitter rebellion skitters came from, the few survivors return to annihilate a common enemy once and for all

why could that be so stupid????
the harnesses does all crazy stuff to them, thinking that scitters are they family, they can climb, they get green growth on them which eventually will turn em in to scitters. scitter/overloards communicate via spikes on human backs?
want me to continue???
so you see, its possibility that they are the actually race that skitters was before the they got harnessed.
Solid start to the season, but I have a feeling they blew their budget on these two episodes especially with all the alien cgi (is that new alien cgi or a costume I cant tell). Rating wise the show is a mega hit as I knew it would be (hence the thread title) as I am the world's top television critic....
Ha, I was about to post the exact same thing, that they blew the budget on the first ten minutes. I think the big guy alien is a costume up to his upper lip, a dude from the chin down and a funny mask on top of it to alien it up with television magic. Also how the hell is a show like this getting mad ratings.
why did we not get to see the first convo with the alien ? to expensive ?
why did the aliens not mod all their weapons, and now the bad aliens are just losers, the new weapons the humans got from the good aliens are superior to anything the bad aliens have, 1 guy with those rifles could demolish an entire base of those new super droids lol
Couple of questions that pop out. They were right, why the hell would a superiour alien force come to our planet and then need kids to harvest the nuclear, or whatever, fuel for their mechs? Just sounds like poor planning, especialy seeing that slave labor dies. It is just sooooo inefficient. Cmon a simple robot would do job 100 times faster. Most of their idiotic plan is just reduntent, even us humans could do it better.
Then this new alien guy bothers me. His smile in the last scene of season 2 finale was like "Look at all these naive fuckers ready to get exploited"
I am not so sure they should trust him. And the fact that have no idea what are they building is just disaster waiting to happen. I would presume that they would first find out about every single detail of the weapon before trusting the alien and building it. The birth of the creapy as fuck baby coupled with this new alien and then all that sleep walking and sex in the woods. Maybe there will be a baby showdown. In first episode they opened so many plots and questions i just hope they answer it.
It would be kinda cool if it shows that this is a 3 way conflict between the new aliens the original invaders and rebeled skitters. Each faction with it's own agenda with humans just there to exploit. I say we shoot them all on sight and sort it out from there
A solid start to the season. The show has never been the best of the best, but it kept me entertained through the first two seasons. Yes, a lot of the plot seems idiotic, but given it's a sci-fi show, we shouldn't waste too much time thinking about it. I do, however, need to rewatch the last episode or two from the last season, since I don't even remember a new breed of aliens arriving.
god I have waited for season 3 start up for so long now,and I was dissapointed that they didnt show anything back when the new aliens landed in front of the second mass and shitt.
and god dammit, hal is crippled and meeting karen/overloard in woods in the dreams, when they arent actuall dreams, its happening.
and how and when did tom mason rise to president
and I loved the new megamechs that has been introduced
and what in the world has happened to matts hair, its so douchy and ugly.
its been 7months later and I dislike that,I would love to see what happend when the aliens landed to 7months later, atleast I hope they will do this on later episodes.
its kinda weird and strange since nothing has been explained.
and if some of you havent watched season 3 start yet, dont bother to go in this thread, dont type like god dammit, fack you man you spoiled it.
Wait, so the new aliens actually haven't been properly introduced? It wasn't explained how Tom became president? Hal being crippled?
well, hal got a bug or something somewhere in the body or head that has him in the wheelchair, but nothing else then that.
the aliens have been talking in the seaosn premiere, they are making something and some other intel, but nothing intruduced em to the viewers like ending in season 2 implied,I was so sure that episode 1 left off where season 2 ended.
its strange and somewhat weird, but you should really see season premiere and make up your own mind. But it has some serious story holes on what happened
I'm glad this is back, I really struggled with season one, made it to ep 6 or 7, didn't watch it. Then once season 2 was over, tried again and glad I did. Theres no getting around the fact it isn't the greatest sci-fi series ever made, but its certainly not the worst, and it's very entertaining.
Loved the first two eps of season 3, looking forward to the flashback ep's we all know are coming. Plus that baby was freaky! Can't wait till next Sunday!
Yeah the first season was ruff but you could tell by the second they went a little "darker" and it really got better. Even this year they added the dreaded "baby" which is normally a bad omen for shows however that spin with the baby being "advanced" actually makes it interesting.
Also if you havent been watching Defiance has actually gotten a lot better as well despite every episode ending with a lame emo song. I actually think it is a Canadian thing to do, does anyone who still watches know if all the songs were performed by Canadians? They have some weird ass laws about that sorts of stuff up there which would explain it.
Well obviously they blew a lot of the budget on season opener so this was basicly a filler episode, now nothing wrong about that but I kinda hoped to get some new clues about the creapy baby. They did open another plot line with the "real" president. So i predict some Jericho type thing where as usual humans in stead of working togheather will fight with eachother. Episode kinda flew by with nothing special happening and then at the end shit starts to go down and episode over

Well the end credits spoiled heavily.
As Wilson from House in the end credits said:

the baby is intertwined with human and alien dna
ye,I wished I didnt see the credit spoier, now I kinda know what happens next time<-<.
but ofcourse the baby is beeing alien, that didnt come from Anne, but im guessing the skitters/fisheads did something with Tom when he was captured in season 2,and they somehow changed human gene DNA of Tom so that in case of tom getting a child it will be as a bridge to their species and humans, much like isabelle in 4400:p.
Well what do you know, an episode with no aliens, and now it's normal people in normal clothes and with normal weapons they will fight against and deal with. Who would have guessed that!
