Unless it's of course a mini-series then it might be good but if it's a multi season thing then that premise wont carry it for long.
Is it a mini-series?
It's going to be shit. You wanna know how I know? Because I have watched TV in the last ten years. Maybe more.
They are going to make a never ending (or soon cancelled) series without ever resolving anything. Today a TV show can't possibly bring a satisfying end, ever. Either it gets cancelled mid-story, or it goes on and on and leaves plotholes behind.
It will focus on the 'human drama', the 'importance of family' and 'psychological aspects'. And not on a potentially great scifi premise. There won't be anything new. It will do all the stories that have been done to death 'with a twist'.
It will feel cheap. People whose only sign of being worse for wear will be beards will run around deserted suburbia/warehouses we have seen a billion times before.

Meh, looks like some hyped up shit series to me, gets people really excited but turns out to be complete garbage =/
yes Speilberg and dreamworks are known for their "shit"
This is what that big steaming pile of poo known as V should have been. And if it can make it thru an entire series than this should definately. It will also benefit from the appeal of Skyline and Battle Los Angeles.

As I said the trailer makes it look awesome but I don't see how that premise could stay interesting for an entire season or more, with or without Spielberg but if it's a mini-series it might work.
Time will tell but I'm not going to get excited about it until I've seen an episode or two.

LOL going by that standard you should never look forward to anything
When it comes to movies in particular I rarely do actually since 90% of the time it turns out to be shit so I stopped that for most movies, but why should I get excited about a TV show when I can't see how that premise even could work for very long and the producer hasn't produced a full length TV show before?
Btw I pretty much only apply this way of thinking in regards to movies, games, TV shows etc as I've seen in the past that it's highly likely that I'll be disappointed, not many great movies and game are being made so one can only assume it's going to be shit and be positively surprised if it isn't.
I don't go about my day thinking "Well I can only assume that on the other side of that door it's going to be shit." "I'm not going to get excited about that pizza either because it's probably going to taste like shit".
About the premise: If it's an office setting all they need is good characters and dialogue but an Alien Invasion that plays on suspense and action, they're going to keep the suspense up by being under attack for 7 years? As I said I can't see how that's going to make sense and work in the long run.
Give me a show with esteemed writers, solid setting and HBO and I might let myself loose while waiting for it as that has more often than not resulted in quality TV.
yea. of course a bunch of rednecks can outsmart, outwit and kill aliens that has spacetravel technology.
lololol I love how people have a problem with the above...yet they have no problem believing that Aliens could invade Earth...plus they were not "rednecks"...moron
I loathe people who have no fucking clue what that word means.......

Remind anyone of that old 70's or 80's movie with Patrick Swayze, think it was called "Red Dawn".Russia invades the US instead of aliens and a bunch of "country yokels" (so wanted to use the word redneck just to piss VBG off ) kick their arses using bows and arrows and other low tech stuff.

okie.."country yokel" is NOT a synonym for "redneck"
And btw Red Dawn has been remade in case you have missed the news.
