Does anyone know of a good app/program where we can try to coordinate when people are going to be on? Besides from just posting in the forum... I know many of the members are in different time zones and I think it would be nice to see someone else on the server.

@MatthewS - I havent heard of any avaliable servers for communication. But that would be for more of an in-game com, which dont get me wrong would be awesome, but I mean more of a schedule type listing of when people are usually on or when they typically log in. Different time zones hinder group play and makes for a much harder community experience.

@DjStorm - Also havent heard much from the admins as far as future mods/add-ons, maybe posting a formal request?

Also, maybe we could have just another vanilla server for those who want just Minecraft. Nothing extra. I know we have the first server online now, but I'm seeing tekkit slowly bleed through to both sides. Just some thoughts.

I just meant in general for when people are online.

Maybe posts times for when you usually go online?

I know I usually pop on any where from 7 PM till 1 AM. Just depends what I have going on at the time.

Since tekkit never will be updated in the way it is now (same mod setup) im leaning on minecraft vanilla. Mojang is hard at work adding features and updating the game and when the official mod support is done i bet modpacks like tekkit wont be needed.

Since our current world is infested with mod items and a few world version upgrades i vote we start fresh on 1.4.2 and create a new spawn town.

So what do you guys think?

I'm up for anything that will bring more players back to the server. The other night farmer, chicken, and I were all on around the same time and had a blast. I imagine if we were back to around 8 or 10 players at a time it would be great!

We could possibly create another world beside the other two and just have a rule that if you wan to enter into it, all of your possessions have to be vanilla?

The problem is that if we want to play the new versions of minecraft we cant use tekkit and if we want mods the alternative is to add the mods manually but that takes effort on both admin and user side.

At the moment though pretty much every mod for 1.4.2 is in beta stage with bugs (testing alot of them) and apperently there will be alot of work for modders with 1.4.3 because of some changes so if we want a stable world to build on and have fun i see no other choice then to revert to vanilla.

At this point, you are sort of free to do whatever.

I no longer have the free time I used to (I started university studies a while back)

And I'd like to use what little freetime I have for something other than
managing a server.

(Minecraft server software, and by extension Bukkit, is a MESS.)

I'll start to research upgrade options, another modpack that are 100% endorsed and supported by the mod developers was released yesterday, FTB modpack (Feed the beast) but i think that is without bukkit.

Well as i said i'll review some alternatives.

Me and a few friends have jumped from one version to the other over the course of the last year or so on our server.

We're now using Vanilla and best thing about Vanilla is that there's hardly anything to manage, plus it's more fun - can use the command blocks pretty creatively if you do need to add protected areas or for some other reason.

If Bukkit or Tekkit gets updated then you can just switch back, save your worlds in case ya need them.

I agree with Malah, I also support a move back to vanilla. While Tekkit and mods are great fun, I believe we will attract a broader spectrum of players if we stick with the basics that everyone knows. Tekkit takes a while to learn and requires a ton of look up and research time to accomplish things.

Minecraft and the Mojang group are hard at work coming out with new and awesome things for vanilla. And it will allow for much easier server management. Lets put this into motion Rezod, let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

My server died on me and the old server i have now don't have the performance to run minecraft.
I'll see if i can get a better server up and running.

MathewS and Rezod, this sounds promising!

I believe tekkit-items and blocks are simply removed if one try to run the game in vanilla (I certainly hope so). I would love it if we could keep the original world, cause we did work pretty hard on it. Although it would make sense to create a new main world, and keep the old one as sort of a time capsule if you will. You know; "Visit the past!".

Thoughts?

I'd only want my mansion from the old world. I was planning on doing a complete restart in regards to the raw materials and so on anyways, the Tekkit stuff was so overpowered, no matter how fun or empowering.

And hey, even if I don't get to keep my mansion, I can always spend a few weeks building a new home for myself. The clean start is what makes Minecraft so fun for me.

Having to worry about that first diamond pick, oooh will it last, etc., complete vanilla Only two things we'd need are Hawkeye and some form of x-ray protection, but the latter should be built into Bukkit, no? The blocks only rendering when revealed to light and so on?

Time has shown that no matter how small the group, some people will still log on, play an hour or so and try to steal stuff just for shits and giggles, as the saying goes.

Hawkeye & banhammer, the two things we would need. So I guess upload the current maps just in case someone is interested in continuing in offline?

As several people here appear to be hosting/renting servers, maybe we could join an existing server instead of making a TBy only server? It is obvious at this point that those of us who are interested want to keep going, but few have the means to run a server and even fewer are willing to manage a separate one.

How about we join forces and add to the population of one of our existing, non-official servers?

So in short - I had a point but forgot about it, because my internets crashed as I was writing this long-ass post. Let us migrate to an existing server and rebuild the glory that is TByVille.

Can`t seem to make Tekkit work, wanted to try it on my own, either that or vanilla, no difference for me, I just wanna build another megaproject
