I know its a little extra work but then ..i think there is an program that for exp. take one episode and you put in that program and it tells you what resolution , video & audio format is that .fps etc..

Uploaders tend not to have the files on their actual PC's so the program you speak of is no use unless you expect an uploader to download the file to their home pc's and do that check.  If that was the case then there would be 0 packs here.

For example, a 3D pack or XBox360 pack may be uploaded, the uploader may not even have a 3D TV or a 360.

With HD files it isnt that much hassle to include all original nfo's.  Its only when the packs get big that it becomes grief. When possible NFO's will now be included, further information cant be given.

I think a feature where we can search a specific thread could be helpful.

For example, I would like to know if anyone has talked about Android Torrent Apps in the Android topic, but as far as I'm aware, the only way I can do this is if I were to go through each page and do a Ctrl + F.

Thank you

that thread is seven pages long with properly set up profile. Means seven searches, but that might be usable.

BoB Edit: It also depends on your profile settings for browsing forums (posts per page)

I've started having problems with the Cinavia DRM when I stream movies to my PS3.

A nice feature would be to add an extra line (or symbol for that matter) to the torrent details page to let users know that movie x is tagged by cinavia.

Yes/No/Unknown

I'm not saying that the uploaders should take their time to check if the movie is tagged, but users could press a YES or NO to warn other users if the experience problems with a specific movie.

It would be very helpful for me atleast. Now I would know which movies to watch on my computer and which to watch on my PS3

My €0.02 anyways...

@ gurcrist,

that info is not readily available in order for that to be achieved.  i too have been hit with it many times, 5 mins into a film then the sound goes or something like that and you have downloaded it using a shitty connection and it took ages and you are sat in you undies all cosy ready for some movie action.....

Seriously though on that front we rely on users letting US know, or the parameters of the nfo.  If a movie contains that protection then all staffers would be more than willing to make a nice big message on the torrent description warning people with ps3's that playback will be impossible.

There are websites out there that inform on which movies contain the protection.  I would suggest you quickly check there first.

Sorry that isn't much help, I feel your pain as I tend to use the PS3 as a media server in one of my rooms.

This has probally been suggested before, and dont know how plausible it is to code it (even if it is possible).

I kinda noticed my ratio has been going up and up latley, why cant we have some feature where users with better ratio's can "give" gigs to a "pot" for some forum games, ie post of the month, or some kind of forum competition. Thus getting new blood to the forums too!

Dont know about others, id gladly give away some of my "upload" if it meant getting new blood to the forums (even better if they are hot women!)

#1487115 by unknown[81460] at 2012-07-14 00:19:33 (1 year ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

I am not against that however sure aint my area of staffing, We already have a ton of freeleech floating about giving the OCD people the freaks let alone allowing editable ratios.

Let me put it to you this way.  I have a large buffer and I wanted to "donate" some to my brother, I am admin, I proposed it, I was told to fuck off my brother should make his own ratio.  i respect that.

As for any form of casino style feature where users can use their upload, that's a question for the coders, I cannot see it happening TBH.

I dont think giving away ratio will get people on the forums tbh, it may get them on the site however then again people can join > leech > get banned > sign back up > leech > get banned> sign back up .........

I dont see ratio credits as an issue, thats just my opinion, maybe another staffer will see diff.

I do not like the idea of Gigabyte trading or adding it to a pot so to speak, but I would not be against the idea of "ratio betting". This could perhaps be in the form of a topic with a poll, let's say for the next F1 race. All bet's are for 5GB - if you vote on Vettel winning, you get 20GB back. If he is 2nd or 3rd on podium, you get original bet back + 50% (2.5GB). Another form could be some sort of mini casino - blackjack, slots, roulette - this would need to be a 'special' though like the poker tournament - which may or may not return again! - rather than an option available all the time.

#1487165 by GermsDonor (Paulo DiCanio's Disciple) at 2012-07-14 11:24:00 (1 year ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Taking Kris's idea and running with it:
Could we get some sort of league/knockout competition for online/multiplayer games where everyone adds a set amount of ratio and the top 5 or 10 get varying percentages of the ratio pot? This would obviously need to be some PvP or competitive style games and as we're all pirates :pirate2: Maybe it would be better with games which allow us to play on private servers or using Hamachi to play via LAN over the 'net? I'm not sure which games this would allow but I'm sure some of our users could tell us which would be viable options.
If possible staffers might choose the game (or a poll to choose the game from a set of options) and in the competition sign-up we could have a link to the uploaded game itself hosted by our favourite torrent site

Not sure if we've ever had a game league before and it obviously would need some work on which games it could be for etc but it might be a cool interactive thing to get people who don't know each other talking during a competition both on our forum and ingame.

Think the problem for me is it IS too easy to get ratio here, so its like nice what do i do with the exta "credit", sure its nice to give back to the community but it really is too easy to get +ratio now, this is prob a topic that deserves a thread of its own but imho there is a little too much free leech?!?!  I do like the idea of "ratio" betting tho, which is prob better than my own idea imho! I like the idea of maybe footy match of the week kinda thing, maybe not even set odds, but like a bookies, ie bet on the final score with differing odds, maybe a bitch to code but i would really dig that!

Yeah. I've done that a couple of times to be safe. Coding a clickable YES if a user experience a cinavia problem or NO if it seems safe shouldn't be too hard to code tho

It obviously sucks to be the first user to get the cinavia error on a particular movie, but he can warn others that there might be problems with it. Take one for the team etc

How about posting a comment saying "This thing has this and that protection, if you use a corporate pile of dong to play it, beware."

I guess...

I mean.. The point is that if we start to do notifiers on one thing, we'll soon have one and a half page of different kind of notifiers per torrent on a 1080p resolution and 8pt font. I doubt anybody wants that. As well as the fact there is already a method that involves no additional coding even if it takes a few more seconds of typing for the users.

#1487554 by Daxon79 (Power User) at 2012-07-17 11:19:26 (1 year ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Firstly apologies if this is answered somewhere else, i imagine it would of been by now.

How about a mobile version of the site, i was just on my iphone browsing the forums and its a royal pain in the ass! I dont know how hard it would be to code a m.torrentbytes website for forum browsing, or even if there would be call for it, but I for one would use it tons when im at work!

I know there was an app along these line but im no longer jailbroken

*****

Second Suggestion (No double posting hence edit)

I know you guys are working on a fix for the "fix torrents" issue. But is there anyway you can code it so if we are leeching a torrent that is subsequently fixed we get a notification? I know that once a fix is released it flags the torrent up, but myself i dont always watch said torrents until i get a quite period of time so unless I see the torrent fix on the tracker or release torrent is corrupt im stuck.

One could argue i should check the torrents, but it would just be nice if i got a notification if the torrent was dead, dont know if thats even possible to code to check leechers to pm or notification.

thoughts?

The ability to block a specific User's avatar could be helpful.

As sometimes, a user might have an avatar which isn't neccesarily offensive, but you just don't wanna see it.

SFEdit: No, you can do that yourself with adblock, userscripts or a loopback entry in your hosts file for that domain name.

hectorEdit: Oops, I didn't even think to check for an edit on my post, my bad.

Yeah, that's fair enough. Thanks for the quick reply, Ferris.

This would be great! And especially for packs it would be cool if staff and/or users can add subtitles for entire seasons.

There is already a link available which is shown and usable for staff and uploaders.
The only problem is that if we allow users to add subtitle links is how to monitor that there no shit added to those links (links to zip's which contain virues etc.).
This can be discussed among staff though.

To the Gig trading;  I'd like to see it as a poker game.  Maybe at some already established game site like yahoo games.

Even without the Gb involved, could be fun to just play with other tb members for shits n giggles.

Hi.
So, reading "Offer files section (anywhere)" and have not been able to find the feature request associated with this.
My idea does not involve a section, but i guess it sort of can be associated with that one, not sure if it's to close to my idea. If it is i apologise and feel free to delete this.

So my thought was that you could post a release to staff & and only staff would be able to see this.
If the site staff finds the release interesting (0-day scene & none-scene), you would be granted temporary upload rights for 1 upload.
If you meet some specific requirements, ie. minimum of 30/40/50 mbit upload or something like that.

The site users would not be involved in any case, it would be purely a staff decision if you get to upload, and user generated content would not be allowed, only official scene releases & p2p releases (as site is now)

Example. I post Indiana.Jones.and.the.Last.Crusade.1989.1080p.BluRay.X264-AMIABLE to staff. Staff finds release to be a good addition to the site. requirements are meet. User is granted upload rights for 1 upload. Upload begins.

Thoughts ?

Most likely carried over from one of the "previous" threads. This is about fourth of these since site went live.

A LOT of work checking.

You have to remember that vast majority of site users have no idea what a pre-time is, most don't even know what the scene is. This would lead to people offering a lot of p2p stuff, homebrew, old stuff, what not. Plus no real way of verifying the user has necessary bandwidth.

Just as an example: 95% of torrent reports on this site are bogus. Nothing wrong with the release, nothing wrong with the .torrent, just users machine (hdd, ram, client) cocking up something and user not bothering to run a hash check.

Do not get me wrong, as a concept the idea is awesome, but in practice I doubt it'll be as smooth sailing as described.

I see what you mean, and you are probably right, sad tho.

One of the reasons i thought of this, was because according to the home page, there are 38682 users, but only 860 active, that's an insane active to registered ratio.
So this could be one way to get some users back to actively using the site.
You already got some free-leech stuff, which helps too.

Another way could be to make the none-scene sections permanently free-leech. As it looks to me you got more activity in none-scene/xvid than movies/xvid & x264.
You just need people to help fill those sections, as i guess the 0day scene autouploader script doesn't really care about p2p (might have guessed very wrong).

Just thinking out laud.
