THis program is great, thanks very much. I use to have a script which did something similar to this but via IRC when files were downloaded.
The one problem I have, and its not as problem as much as it is a feature request, but is it possible to include the group name and quality etc in the file name?
For example if the original file is scrubs.802.hdtv-0tv.avi
Is it possible to include the HDTV-0tv at the end? I just like to have the quality and the group, or other information (like if its a proper) so I can keep a check on which version I have in case its nuked, or am looking for an alternative rip of the show for whatever reason.
Just a few examples of how I rename my shows...which will hopefully make it clear why I would like the extra info included;
NCIS.s06e13.Broken Bird(hdtv.xvid-LOL).avi
30 Rock.s03e07.Senor Macho Solo(hdtv.xvid-LOL).avi
Dexter.s02e02.Waiting To Exhale(preair.dvdrip.xvid-SITV).avi
American Dad.s03e13.Red October Sky(PDTV.XviD-XOR).avi
Scrubs.s08e01.My Jerks(HDTV.XviD-XOR).avi
Dexter.s02e06.Dex, Lies & Videotape(HDTV.PROPER.XviD-0TV).avi
Thanks again for this great program, I am currently using it to rename shows I have been way too lazy to do manually.

This is by far one of the most helpful utilities I've ever found! Thank You

Hi twiglet,
First of all, thank you very much for this app. It definetly makes my life a lot easier.
I'd like to suggest a feature for the next version. I organize my TV Shows like "D:\Videos\TV\Show Name\Season #\Episode # - Episode Title\Show Name - ##x## - Episode Title.avi". I was always renaming the files where I extracted them and then manually creating the folder tree and copying the file to the appropirate folder.
Today, I was exloring the app and found "Move & Rename" feature. So i tried a rule ( which is "D:\Videos\TV\[show]\Season [s]\Episode [e] - [title]\" ) to form that folder tree and copy the file to it's folder but i found out that the "[e]" tag and the "[title]" tag is not supported while specifying a folder.
So, IMHO, if you could add the support for the other tags while specifying a folder, it would be much better.

I'll pop this in the next release

Amazing little app. You should consider adding paypal donate button or something, I'm sure there are more people thankful for this.
I'd like to suggest a new feature to add in future. Let users process titles. For example, I like my shows to be named like this:
House.S04E08.You.Dont.Want.to.Know.mkv
Note lack of brackets, apostrophes and dots instead of spaces. For now I have to do this semi-manually with Total Commander, but it'd be great to be able just put files in SmartRename's window and be done with it.
That said, I want to thank you again for this great app.

Is there any thoughts in a CLI version for Linux?
Edit: And would also be nice if the app could unrar the tv episodes. For example if i have downloaded a whole season and wanted to unrar, rename and watch all in a row.
I would bet someone has done a similiar tool for linux. Google around if you already did not do that.
There is an auto extract tool as well by the same author (for win), just check the other stickies.
I doubt twiglet wants to code this app any further, because it does what it is supposed to do when its supposed to.

Ive noticed that while trying to rename any of the Gossip Girl files, it tries to rename every file to S01E01. Ive tried disabling the cache and even renaming a test file to Gossip Girl - S01E02 (just to have your program add the names) and it still wants to rename to S01E01
Screenshot:
Also, a request for the program: can you have it either save the log automatically, or make the log save-able or selectable? I tried to c/p the log here but there is no way to copy it or save it (hence the ss)

Beautiful, that did it. I completely forgot that it looks at the folder name. Thankyou!
