It seemed was mainly particle effects like sun rays or dust flying through the air. It did seem to add a little big more depth as to what is in the background and what is in the foreground, but it was nothing like the 10 sec 3d demo they had before the movie started.
To me that just says they converted a 2d movie into 3d using some kind of filter.
I don't feel like it takes away from the movie but is completely unnecessary imo.
Saw it last week in 2D and I'm going to see it again next week with some other friends.
The movie was all I wanted in a Superman movie. They managed to include as much "beginning story" as possible without making it too boring to watch. I'm glad they got that out of the way so the next 2-3 movies can focus on everything else. So it was a great "batman begins" movie.
With that said, best part was
that they never mentioned kryptonite! This is why superman movies are dull, because hes a god with one weakness. So every movie its the same fucking thing. But I'm glad they never mentioned the word kryptonite, just the small hint of9 the ship being kryptonian.
Also the worst part,
he Killed. Superman does not kill. This goes against everything Superman is and stands for. Superman is plagued by the thought that he cant be everywhere at all possible time, that he cant save every person all the time. I read that the ending was supposed to be Superman throwing Zod into the space prison once again, but the director thought that it would have been a obvious and boring ending, so they pitched the idea that he has to make a choice and kill Zod. DC absolutely didn't want Superman to kill, but I guess he managed to convince them otherwise.
But I guess this is the post Dark Knight era that we live in now. Superheros are no longer comicbook wacky, they are dark and serious. But I'm not complaining =).
They said that the sequel is already in the works, I hope
its Lex Luthor time! There were subtle hints about Luthor Corp logo on a truck and even Wayne Enterprise logo on the space satellite. I'm guessing Lex comes forth to rebuild the entire city of Metropolis that has been destroyed by the "evil" Superman. And with that, turns everyone against him.
First of all I am happy they gave us the choice to choose whether we want to see it in 3d or not (suck it Avangers).
I really appreciate the way they introduced the origin story in this movie, the few minutes bits separeted in different parts of the movie, were very clever way to do it. Moreover, by doing it, they managed to introduce very deep story, much more complex that we could expect from a comic book flick. I loved the villains, since they had some purpose, not just causing some random chaos (or other evil shit simillar to Lizardman in new Spiderman movie.... doh).
Ending is criticised ? Well, to be honest when they got rid of Zod's henchmen i was wondering what will he do with Zod himself, since there was no Kryptonite introduction noone could overpower him, and put to some custom made Kryptonite prison or something. Ending was perfect, he made a tough choice, choose the lesser evil and since it was a introduction to new story, we can assume that Clark is gonna by hunted by this murder in sequel.
For a sequel i could go with Xiggiduna vision, about Lex rebuilding the city, then he could win the elections, invest in scientist to develop, or find Kryptonite etc.
on-topic: Best Superman movie I've ever seen. Didn't notice the references to Bruce Wayne or Lex Luthor. This was a good movie! Like others I prefer the darker Superman, darker Batman, etc. Why so serious? Because it's better! The villains were better, the effects were better, the story was more believable... loved it.
I couldn't stand the Lex Luthor in Superman Returns, and that scene with the miniature city, please...
