Fake trailer started off well... but then middle-end you see it starts looking very amateurish. Looking forward to the movie just so long as they dont have all the lovey dovey crap from the first one - we need more of a storyline, a badder "bad guy", and hella a lot more action.
They better have a decent bad guy this time, or I'm gonna pass. I'm sick of lex, I like seeing Super v.s Super.
Bryan Singer is notorious for overworking story, and little action, first one was kind of a yawn!

They should have done this in the first movie. Hopefully he is the bad guy in the second one. Please give me Darkseid as the big bad!
It would be the only thing that would get me to watch another Singer/Routh attempt at Superman. Barely...

I agree with warduke on this one..
Superman returns was a cheap one night fling in movies just there for some money. People complain Bad Boys2 was a pointless sequel. Well Superman was the ultimate one. It offered nothing new, they stuck it is as Superman 2.5 so they didn't have to offer anything of substance.
And as for the Child....well anyone who's seen mallrats would know how ludicrious it is to even comtemplate Lois could carry supermans baby

Oh yeah, thats my favorite Superman bad guy... But I think Darkseid is too much for Superman alone, but yes... would love to see him as the bad guy! Hell, I'd even take 'Doomsday'.
I'm not sure where all the hate on Superman Returns came from? I mean i honestly thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Altho i didnt expect to see Supes get shanked and have the boots layed to him ROFL I was sitting there going BUT that was the point, it really hit home.
And the kid they got to play Supes really nailed the look. One thing i am bored to tears of those is Luthor as a villian, he's just an egghead with a bad attitude that'll agree with. They need a better villian. But i thought the movie was really good! Seems alot of people didnt like it after reading this thread?

I thought Superman Returns was awesome.. Sure there wasn't a lot of action but Brian Singer had to bring Superman back to life, into the 21st Century, there HAD to be a lot of story.
Anyway, he has already said that for Man of Steel there will be triple the action compared to Returns..
Do you know how you bring Superman into the 21st Century. You start from the beginning. You don't try to launch your movie off the success of a movie made 20 years ago. Using it's storyline yet changing all the actors.
Also Lex Luthor in the 21st Century is not a mad scientist bent on cash like he was back in the old movies. The current Lex Luthor is suppose to embody the modern greedy business man... That's why the villain sucked balls in Superman Returns. Not because of Kevin's acting, but because the role just was crap.
Plus, you would think the the writers would go back and actually watch the two movies they are basing their Superman Returns movie off from.
In the first movie it was stated that Superman's home planet was destroyed thousands of earths years ago. Meaning that even though Superman aged four years traveling from Krypton to Earth. Thousands of years passed here.
So, if our hero were to return home and then fly back. He would have aged 8 years(NOT FOUR) and he would have landed closer to the 31st Century. When he returned to Earth...
As an added bonus, for the Superman geeks in some of us. What was the last thing Superman said to the President of the United States at the end of Superman II? That he would never leave us again....
It's no way near as bad you say, sure it wasn't great but I thought they did a good job of bringing big red back to the silver screen.
Remember SR was a loose sequel from Superman II, hence there is no mention of Zod coming to earth. I've seen many dissapointing super hero films over 2006-07, like X-3, but this was not one of them.
Hi, I'm old and I hate movie re-makes from when I was younger.
I like to cling to my fond memories of Christopher Reeve and no matter how hard Hollywood tries, I will never approve nor accept any attempts at new Superman movies unless they bring back the original cast and film it the same way, with the same writers, director, and plot.
Otherwise they remind me that I'm 30 years older now than when the original Superman movie was released, and I don't like feeling older and having my original idea of Superman films being trampled upon. I will reject all of these movies because they will never compare to how awesome movies were back when I was young, back when I actually had the mental focus to concentrate on a movie for 2 hours, and back when Hollywood knew what they were doing. How dare these young people think a new Superman is something special? I was alive when the original hit theaters a few decades ago! Man those were the good times. Kids these days don't know squat. Anything the 20-somethings enjoy in the theater now, I will unquestionably dislike just to prove how much smarter I am.
I obviously won't tell anyone the truth about why I hate re-makes, I will just tell them it's because "modern age" film technology and poor scripting have ruined the franchise. I will remind everyone that actors today are overpaid, Hollywood has lost its inspiration, and crowds only care about graphics and special effects. I will use these excuses so I can pretend that Superman from 1978 is still the best of the series, and no movies since then or in the future will ever compare to its greatness. I will apply this logic to all movie and television show re-makes for the rest of my life.
In another 30 years when I am dead and gone, the young people from today will be my age and will repeat everything I just said here. In 30 years, "Superman Returns" will be the golden classic that no new Superman movies can compare to. Hollywood actors will be even more overpaid, graphics will be even more overdone, and scripting will be even more bland. But, man, nothing will ever be better than that time I saw "Superman Returns" in the theater. The good ol' days.
You make astrange but understandable point, believe me when I say Superman Returns will NEVER be claimed as a golden special by anyone. 1978 Superman was special, back then how often did anyone see a flying man? It was ground breaking stuff, including a good story and good performances Gene Hackman and new comer Christopher Reeve. It was all about the 'magic' of the movie.
You'll eventually have to move on and try to accept another Man of Steel, I for one think there are enough plots and villians in the comics that could be adapted to the big screen, given the right director, there could truley be another good Superman movie that will be remembered as a classic.

Another one? I didn't like the last one too much tbh
One of the differences of this new Superman movie compaired to the 1978. Is that it didn't respect the Superman that came before it.
In 1978 when Superman was released. You can find not only references to the old radio and television shows, but also cameos of both Jimmy Olson and Louis Lane from the television show.
They could have done a lot more with Superman Returns. Instead they decided to go the route of Batman 4... Lame dialog and lame costume... Hell, if you looked at the Superman blue close enough. You see the Superman crest repeated over and over. It's as bad as putting nipples and buttcheeks on the batsuit...

Is he actually going to fight someone or just pick up a giant rock and end the movie?
......
First one was a hyped piece of garbage and people only went and saw it because it was Superman relived.........

Saw this today in 2d and i really enjoyed it, very SFX heavy, but i do warn do not even think of comparing it to the 1970/80`s versions, its a complete re-imagining bring some concepts of the superman universe a bit more upto date or at least a different play on it.
Not too heavy on drama at least for me anyway. a long ass film though if u include the 45 mins of adverts before hand so take your comfy shoes 8.5/10 for me
