gonna miss the absolute shit out of this site. how do places like Torrent Leech still operate when TB can't? Has anyone out there got a list of TB alternate sites? I can't imagine the'd be as good but shit, not a lot of choice now.
Cheers to the admin, uploaders and seeders for the epic range of awesome media on this site. I've filled many a hard drive and have rarely downloaded media from anywhere else for nearly 6 years.

The main problem green, is that the people who could really turn this site around from the old days just simply are not around anymore.....

Hell they don't even log in, let alone post in the forums :weep:

Would be interesting and insightful to hear some posts from BoB but sadly he has been gagged :giggle:

Edit: In fact, since it's looking like the site will possibley close, why not Ungag him for the remainder ?

I'm sure a few of them would raise their heads and chip in before we lost this place...again!

Bring back BoB, he's got more right than most of us to be here:!:

I also very sorry for the "almost" lost of TB. Thx for a wonderful community and awesome torrents over the last 5 years!

I know itīs been difficult over the last month to come up with a donate system thats works for all of us. Thanks for your effort so far!
I truly hope that you guys find any solution.

Just in case, i signed up at the http://tb.badne.ws
We can work something out!

It would be a temp thing but it would work for now. It might even release the money tied up in the paypal disputes, "look, we complied and took down the torrents! Give us back the money you have frozen"

#1536469 by Devilizer (Power User) at 2013-07-21 19:09:59 (6 days ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Just hope something can be done to keep this place alive.
I'm not one to post too much in the forums (90 posts in 8 years) but I've spent sooo many hours reading threads here of all kinds of things.
And yeah, sure, I can get my torrents elsewhere (which, honestly, is the main reason I'm a member (don't shoot me for it)), it's always here I look first.
TB is the first place i check when I log on ^^

I haven't been the most active member here, though oddly enough i always found myself visiting the site almost daily.

So i just wanted to pop up in and express my gratitude from current and former staffmembers that have kept this community alive for so long, the amount of blood and tears that have gone into the site must've been more than most people could bear.

I wish all of you the best in the future, both personally and professionally, and once again, thank you for keeping this community alive for as long as you did

Same as devilizer. Not much of a forum poster. But this site was always the first site for me te look for torrents since 2005. And i never had any problems leaving the torrents to upload.
Been a member here also for a very long time. Hate to see it go.
Very big thanks to the people behind this site. And i believe that they are trying everything to keep this site alive as long as possible and checking all the options that are available in todays commercialized world.(is that even a word)
It's a shame that the world tries everything to earn more and more money and hate people that download and upload.
They won't get more money from me thats for sure. But i have no problems donating money for great sites like this one.

Again thanks for having this site up for such a long time. I hope new options will arrise in the near future.

I'm no expert when it comes to routing / dns / nameservers / domains, networking etc.....

If the issue is with funds, is there no way that us members can host the website using some sort of dynamic dns / http solution?

im sure most of us have a spare pc in our homes, that can be setup to a torrentbytes network as a http server, where the information is replicated between computers.

Kind of the way torrents are shared, however for the http website.

It's not a case of accepting a currency, it's a case of converting the currency into something that the host will accept.

Then the next question would be.....

Why not change the host to something that accepts Bitcoins etc... ?

Running sites such as these, there really are a limited number of places to host them, places you can trust. It's not as easy as peole think, just to find alternayive hosting. Things have changed over the last few years and these sites are far more challenging to run than most people think.

Been here almost 7 years. Going to miss this place badly.

Thanks for all the things you have given me. Christmas was always good.

Thanks to all the staff(past and present), you've been great.

It's been emotional

I know it's not dead yet, but it would be appreciated if pointers could be given for the best places to move onto.

But wherever it is, it won't be like home

Crappy releases,late releases etc etc

Be a sad day but no big loss really.

That has nothing to do with the site itself, most releases come from the scene...

While it is sad that this may be the end of TB, I would like to thank the staff for running this site for the eight and a half years I have been here

If alternatives or ways around it can be found then great. Where there is a will, there is a way

Last time I criticized this tracker I got a fat warning so I'm treading on thin ice, presumably.

1.  Slow pre-times on the tracker are TB's problem, not the scene.
2.  The scene pre's a lot of stuff that don't show up here.  For a better example of that, use a pre channel or check out another trackers that grab stuff from the scene.  You'll notice other sites have much faster pre-times and offer way more content.  I assume those sites simply have more members/uploaders pushing content.

Some things on TB take hours to show up, where they take seconds or a few minutes on other trackers.  Some things take days to show up.  And I'm talking about big movie/game releases.  The extreme lack of peers on this site makes snatching old stuff even more difficult, maybe it has something to do with limiting the total number of accounts?  Also the 30-day TTL limits the amount of content, too.

I love the forums here, by far my favorite of any website, but the tracker itself is underwhelming.  I don't really care what happens to the tracker but losing the forums is a pretty significant loss.

If TB is your only 0day, I advise you to expand your horizons.

Wow, I can't believe it! I never thought that this day would come. Next month is my eight year anniversary, and I can't really imagine going anywhere else. I'm really out of the loop since this is really the only place I have used over the last eight years, so if anyone has any suggestions or free invites to a comparable site please PM me. I would really greatly appreciate it. Thanks for eight great years guys, I really appreciate everything this site has been.
