It is hardly hostility wanting the place to continue! The news post says "see ya" so you have given up or decided its enough! They are the facts! deal with it mate! We as a community are having to deal with it!

@Earwig, fuck the staff forums, it was just full of people moaning, wipe it! who wants that shit! Uploader list, there won't be any need if it is just a forum for the time being. I would not want anyone here did not want to be here, if they don't like me or what the site stands for, fuck em!

Sad news indeed.
It's a shame that payment services are forced to act like judges on payment.

But isn't it possible to use Amazon, or google wallet or something like that, instead of paypal?

EDIT: there is also something called flattr, a donation service.

Very sad to hear the site will be going down (in)definitely. I've not been very active in the forums however I really do like the community here and the lack of spam, crappy downloads etc etc. I'll be on the lookout for any restart of tb..

+1 on losing the tracker if that means more time to find a good solution on keeping this great site and community alive. You have my support.

If a drug dealing site like Silk Road can stay up and running, what more is there to say?

It is possible!

#1536393 by Shubbeh (Power User) at 2013-07-21 15:22:56 (6 days ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

It''s been a good run. I've never posted much in the forums and comments because... well, I didn't have anything to say and I'm active in other forums, but I know TBy is a good bunch of people. I've been around since the pre-TBy days, if this truly is the end then it is quite sad. I would also appreciate a PM with a suggestion on where to move to in the event that that becomes a necessity, but I'd welcome an opportunity to keep the community together while people with the drive to keep things going think of how that can be done

I'm not sure what I'll do whitout this site. I've been a member for quite a long time, a shame to see it end. Is there no way to save it?
If there is a way, how can we help?

Can someone not set up a PO Box and we an send some monies to that?

#1536398 by EarwigDonor (VIP) at 2013-07-21 15:48:56 (6 days ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

From memory of being staff here it's actually the site itself that takes most of the load and B/W. The tracker itself is on a separate box and does not use much in the way of resources.

Plus don't forget that the forums are actually only a very small part of a site such as this. What do you think the % of people that actually use the forums is ? Extrememly low indeed....

If someone wanted to host a forum for the members it really wouldn't be that hard to do, but the majority of people would surely want far more than just a forum ?

Surely the best option is to simply relocate to another site or start again with a totally fresh blank canvas as was done in the first place from TorrentBits ?

I don't want to see this site die in any way shape or form but wonder if it's worth keeping it alive in a much lesser form just for the sake of Nostalgia ?

SERIOUSLY...
How come no one has suggested Bit Coin????????????????
I have bitcoin RIGHT NOW in my wallet that I could donate.

For those of you who don't know what bitcoin is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin

In short, it is a way of transmitting encrypted currency through the internet without anyone know who it has come from, or who it is going to.
It is INCREDIBLY easy to set up a digital wallet and send/receive payments.

A person goes to the bank, transfers cash into a 3rd party account, (like spendbitcoin in australia) and they transfer the bc to your wallet.

A bitcoin wallet address looks like this: 12CZb6U5cMdgRdBAxBJybVbV5WQ41ppgRi
(Don't send bc there though - thats my address!)

#1536410 by CorbexDonor (Power User) at 2013-07-21 16:34:10 (6 days ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

TB has been my primary torrent site since 2008 and it makes me sad if it's going away

Hopefully some miracle will save it.

Meanwhile expecting for the worst, what site do you guys recommend to replace TB with?

You might get some donations if your link to the 'Support Us Donate' area on the pages worked.  I've tried to kick in some money, but each time I click it I get 404 error The requested URL /donate.php was not found on this server.

It's not about getting money, it's about delivering that money to the host.

What about bank to bank transfer?
In Europe it is easy transferring money to a other country in Europe thanks to IBAN.

#1536420 by malahDonor (Power User) at 2013-07-21 16:55:10 (6 days ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

This goes back in circles to the fact that no one of the current staff is interested in being the name attached to the site? At least that's what has been mentioned time and again in discussions.

It has to be an anonymous system, bank transfer's is not anonymous.
