Member for four years. It's not much compared to the "locals", but i have always been a lurker and developed oppinnions and respect for people from a distance.

I always wanted to participate in threads more, but maybe in another place

Big ups for the staff, BoB and several people who by their posting have opened my eyes in many ways.

Can someone explain this? I've been a member there for a number of years and don't ever remember any pay to leech. Is there something I am missing?

I�m going to ignore the drama (this site has always had its share of that) and just say a few words.

It�s been a great eight and a half years. Not many torrent sites like this have survived this long and it�s a real credit to both the community as well as a few key, central people that this site kept going as others fell by the wayside. I�ve always loved that, even as a lot of the deep-pocketed pay-to-leech sites, with their near limitless funds have imploded, this site has kept going on nothing more than the generosity and devotion of its members. I might be cynical but it�s hard to imagine a site so completely lacking any financial motive being founded today.

I don�t personally have the time, or much motivation to post on internet forums these days. Seven posts in a year won�t break any records. :-P

But I loved posting back in the day. You could always have a good laugh, or a proper discussion about something serious. If nothing else, this site has proved to me that the internet isn�t all Youtube comments. :p The staff have my utmost respect � even the relatively short time I spent as a moderator made me realise how time consuming just monitoring the forums and torrent cheats is. I have no idea how those who have kept up the job year after year have coped.

TBy is still my homepage and the first and last site I check in on every day and I�ll miss reading everything you guy have to say even if I don�t join in any more.

I hope that something good comes out of this, like it did TorrentBits.

Not directed at you. I know you've been silenced mate. Either someone of authority informs the userbase of our options and a reason for/against going down those routes. Or this site is DOA.

I sincerely hope we can get something rolling to keep the community alive. I've been here for 8 years (duh!), managed to get some credits by borrowing a friends account on two different dumps racing back and forth. Started as an uploader here and did my best to bring people what they wanted.

Everything changed when I bought a new gamingpc and converted my old computer into a dump and added a bunch of disks in it. Became a VIP and owner of several dumps in bigger sites and sat up all night having no life waiting for the TV-series and anime which I uploaded mostly. Until a few years later when I decided to move to another country. This is when I left racing, uploading and being a part of a dump. (Not because I wanted, but because the internet connections were shit in the country I moved to)

Since then I've just been lurking around here not saying much. Honestly I dont recognize 75% of the staff around these days but I still do appreciate what you've been doing to keep the site up. Because today, this is my only source of getting my TV-addiction sorted out.

This was long before seedboxes were common, I remember Earwig getting a crazy one and beating me on exactly everything just months before I quit.

I hope this isn't goodbye and that we still keep in touch somehow and perhaps even restore the site to it's former glory, who knows?

Give up and close
currently all that are willing have done what they can

Start with a different hierarchy
demote the coder, get new admin new site owner and some new staff (not replace the current but new coder). Thats the easy option however after years of one coder the site code is such a way that it would be almost impossible to maintain. This also leaves more security risks than a whore with chocolate knickers. There is no way of completely locking out the coder without removing all accounts and identifying what account does what will be a pure pigstye. Money is not an issue here folks. I do not think the current database is usable and honestly 100% feel this site never changed or adapted(despite staff coming and going due to that fact) because the code is such a shit state even they done know what the fuck they are doing.

start a new site
I cant even begin to explain how much work and time that would take, having the right people to do the right things at the right time would be nigh impossible to achieve. This however may be the most viable solution but will need a new hierarchy.

Move to a forum only base
All for this but how long before people start dropping off due to no torrents or spending time elsewhere (on a site they get their torrents), even doing that would need a massive shift in saff hierarchy after all do any of you wish to join the forums just for the continuation of "disagree with some staff and get banned" ? That abuse has gone on far too long.

Now i am not gonna bullshit folk, nor am i attacking but I have seen so many regular forum users abused and banned due to an abuse of power ( i have done it and regretted it). No way should that be allowed to continue onto a new fresh field.

This is about all of you, not staff, not me, not the blue men, the community. The decision has to be best for you guys.

edit: green and i made our offer to take over the site, i know everything and i mean EVERYTHING in staff forums even since my demotion, so i really cant see why the content after my demotion is so secret or a security risk. There is another coder who can lock out and separate the site, failing that how about you let us try, after all if we fuck it up whats lost ?

Avoid Torrent-Damage at all cost, I lost more then 1 TB twice because of "strange reasons" there are much better private torrent sites as the one I joined today

I second that. I also asked tokol about the current HW setup and the traffic it generates. I do have some HW in DC which might be used for hosting, depending on the setup and TB traffic.

I never worked on this kind of project, though I can offer my UX knowledge. It's all about guys who are willing to help and guys who are willing to share their know-how (old timer admins, etc.).

Not sure exactly, as I was only in staff for about a week before it was shut down, but it seemed like an overnight decision, but it was later said there were discussions about keeping it going, from the staff that remained.
