As much as id personally love to see the site stay, in reality, when the torrents go (if you seperate) people will drift away over time, in the end, even the best of intentions die without a reason to hang, this place will become a ghost town in time..... Isnt it best to let it die on a high rather than rip its soul out? (Im probally in a minority here!)

200 euro's is all it would cost to host the forum, sniper is the only one who can remove what needs to be removed. We won't get access to the code until the parts are removed and all this is without asking Sniper as he is M.I.A.

Aterlatus owns the domain
Sniper holds the code
Admins have access to the host but can't give that up without sniper pulling parts out of the code.
We have a shitload of idea's and no one to give us what we need.

This is all without even asking for help to code/run the place and try a few options out.

Thanks for everyones support  IF sniper comes back and gives us what we need, this might have a slim chance. Until then, its dead!

I don't own the domain...

It's like a game of fucking cluedo in here, who owns the domain?

Due to the risk of sounding biased I shall refrain from giving an answer

Sniper, in the staff forum, with the candle stick. I win!

I picked Sniper out of thin air as he is not here, I think we should blame him some more

far Q sniper, *throws rocks*

j/k

but it feels like I have been sent around the houses looking for info, getting the info and still getting nowhere fast due to not being able to speak to sniper.

I've got to give up or i'll smoke more and don't need another excuse, until then, we wait for Sniper or the 404.

Last site poll!

"what will happen 1st?"
a) sniper comes back
b) 404

torrentshack ftw!

What is this talk about pulling code out, etc? How much bandwidth is the site using per month, I'm still trying to figure out why it costs so much to operate a site that doesn't actually host any of the downloadable files.

Soo...

I signed up on both Torrentshack and speed.cd

Then I noticed that oblivion 720p is up on speed.cd but not here or the shack. I like torrentshack more for some reason though. But draw your own conclusions, people...

8 years, 6 months, 7 days... long time member here.

I will miss — just about everything here. Couple of staff, over the years, that I never had any use for that I won't miss. Sensory comes to mind. I also won't miss the 'our way or the highway' attitude that has arisen in later years. But for all that, I will miss things here. By and large, in the bold strokes, TorrentBytes set the benchmark for many other sites. As TorrentBits set the benchmark the first time around, Tbytes set it for the next decade. Everyone else's site strove to be at least as good as this one, and some strove to be better in their own way. Still, the benchmark was set here by users, staff, uploaders, First Line Support, coders and even cheaters(in the sense they showed us what NOT to be) helped to make Tbytes get better. Each in their own way did something to help Tbytes become the benchmark.

Hopefully some miracle can happen in the next week, but I'm not holding my breath. Staff have done a magnificent job over the last year to keep things turning here; love you all or hate you all, I tip my cap to you ALL your efforts.

Last, but not least, a thankyou to these fine people: hOG, tokol, brohan, MissOneOneNine, JEFFSR, BabyLove, cRaZy, MaxthePuppy, Pethron. They all did something to make, at the very least, my experience here a great one.

Do you have any idea how much it costs to buy and island and look legitimate?

Don't think that oblivion is a scene release, afaik all the oblivion releases so far are HDRips with Korean Subs hardcoded.

Torrentbytes is obviously a friendly site with lively forums and a solid community. I wonder if the bosses here ever wanted to take it up a couple levels with bots bringing in endless porn for example,  and more uploaders like a what.cd and stuff from HD trackers and Yify etc and maybe turn TB into a huge tracker with 200,000 members and a million torrents?

#1536818 by Green (Der Tommy) at 2013-07-23 02:42:11 (5 days ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Tokol, can we trust you to wipe the HDD's before you lose access to the host? The host is trusted but at least people will have peace of mind that their details are gone.

Leave it until the last possible day/hour, then wipe the drives/logs/site so its gone for good.

Just been through and deleted everything I can :

8 years last February.

Sad to see it go but it lost relevance for me so I rarely get anything here now.

Still a shame to see it go but it will be one less tab in my Firefox.

Bye all. All the best.

If I've read the rules correctly there's no worrying about your ratio at Torrentshack.

Meaning there is no ration rules at Torrent Shack, or our ratio can be rolled over?

I've definitely got some five stages of grief going on here.

Just to answer my own question, there's no ratio, but it looks like some benefits come with greater upload amount..
