Tell me about it, it's like they all want to do is rent us games and then sell information about our habits and interactions with other people. Gots to earn them dolla bills somehow.

Wrong, its clearly about more than just games these days.

You wont be forced to use these extra features so if you don't like them, simple solution, don't use them.

Its like someone complaining because its too cold in their car when they have the air conditioning turned full blast, here's an idea, turn off the optional air conditioning and stop fucking whining about something your not forced to use.

Regarding the whole conference, overall I think it was fine. I'm hoping its around £400 with the camera included.

Way to pricey has to be £300 - £350 range or has Sony not learned anything.

400€ is well within reasonable for a just rleased console, it's pretty much been the standard price all the time.

#1521765 by Xiggiduna (User) at 2013-02-21 15:53:13 (5 months ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

I think it's definitely going to be a monthly fee.

* Always connected to the interet
* Cloud system (how much storage you want to pay for, 20GB-350GB+)
* All the social and apps crap
* Streaming games
* Pre-downloading games you didn't know you wanted
* and so on

I woudln't be supprised if the console came out for $299 and with a years subscription of $19 a month.

And maybe consoles without the year subscription but they are more expensive and offline, with none of the perks.

Hopefully they will have both sub and not sub, like now.
As long as they still let you chat with voice and text and to play online while still free, it would be great.
Basically, they should have the same system they do  now, only adding all the new stuff to the playstation plus deal, maybe.

That really depends where in europe your living if i can buy it for 400€ at launch i would be very impressed i paid just under 750€ for ps3 when it was released.

Wii U cost about 350-400€ here and ps4 is gonna cost more thats 120% sure.

Dude, I have enough friends. Me and my fellow buddies play Dota 2 every single day through Skype, and YES we do meet often and socialize on a real level. That still don't effin mean I want Facebook and other shit integrated with my experience! I don't know if you get that but..

I have to laugh at all these NEXT GEN consoles, its so sad lol.

I just watched the grand unvieling of the PS4, complete let down. The graphics arent that good and the worst part is there touting this new interactivity through phones and all this other crap like its revolutionary.

Sorry folks the PC market has been doing this for years lol.

Well yea. Only an idiot would compare the PC with Console. You are simply comparing a PC that cant be upgraded (console) with PC that can. It's dumb.

But consoles are supposed to be the smaller PC's that you buy for your kids to play in the livingroom. They are the easier PC. Without all the hassle and problems a PC can have. It's plug and play.

So you should only compare consoles to other consoles. PC master race will always be PC master race!

My friend  put it best and i'll never forget it and its so true.

Consoles are for people that can't afford a real machine.

btw I dont understand your first sentence. Maybe u worded it kinda odd, i'm not sure exactly what you were trying to say besides pc's are upgradeable and consoles are not?

#1521853 by Xiggiduna (User) at 2013-02-22 01:34:17 (5 months ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Yes a console is a PC. It's a small PC that can't be upgraded like a regular desktop PC.

So when you compare consoles vs PC you are comparing, a PC that has the same speccs for 10 years with a PC that can change speccs every month to the best parts. It just sounds dumb to even compare the two.

That's why it's such a big deal that PS4 has 8GB of Ram when PS3 only had 512MB. But it's not a big deal for a PC =).

Haha, good one, so i have a brand new comp and all current consoles (excluding the Wii U)... pretty sure it has nothing to do with affording anything otherwise why would i own the consoles? And no im not rich, consoles were bought over time, price drops included.  And considering how the PC market has gone, almost everything based around console development then ported, the point of having a huge machine that costs triple a console is getting smaller. And i love my PC games, but i also play on the others considering good games come out on them that never touch the PC or if they do they are late. Also considering steam is now bringing out its own console expect full blown PC's to yet again diminish.

I will always have a top of the line PC (nvid 670 the OC version so not like i went stupid), thats where i work and play. But i also will have something from the console market, the games, the exclusives, the simple fact you can grab three mates over and just play together without hassle.

Your friend might of been right 5yrs ago, but times have changed so much.

And comparing PC to consoles is one thing, you cant really but everyone does. But connectivity to games through phones on PC... Have i missed something? This isn't in anything i know. There isnt a single platform chat network either, skype yes, but not all people on a PC use Skype, or MSN, Xfire, Raptr, the list goes on. None of those are cross platform either (excusing the skype msn merger), yet everyone who owns a ps or xbox with the app that goes with will be able to chat with friends on the same platform.

I don't care for phone shit anyway, played about with it on iphone and xbox lately, while driving and reading my "gps" phone i seem to crash alot I dont have anywhere for it in front of my sofa. So while wooo yay look what it does, its pretty useless, only thing i saw was changing songs behind the scenes in dance central so you could stack up new, thats useful, but otherwise, meh.

Will end rant there

PS is shaping up, im still quite shocked at the x86 part, projection was 4gb, was thinking that was low, 8gb is nice, nothing will use that for a while though, even on PC we are not hitting close to that ever, unless you count some resource hungry windows apps.

Full name is gaming console. That "gaming" part says it's meant for games and that has been the case so far.

Calling a console a PC is daft. Differences go way beyond upgradeability and have to do with what you can do with a console vs a PC. The gap is pretty big with consoles being only entertainment devices and PCs general purpose machines that can also act like entertainment devices. A PC can replace/supercede a console. A console cannot replace a PC.

It's also perfectly reasonable to compare consoles with PCs in respect to their graphical prowess as both can act as the gaming machine of choice. Compraisons have been made countless times before and are going to be done in the future. What are you complaining about ?

He didn't critisize PS4's specs but the lackluster ( to him ) graphics of the next gen console and it's touted revolutionary features that have been around for a while on his machine of choice ( making them anything but revolutionary ). I mean seriously would you be impressed if you went to a car unveiling and the manufacturer would rave about airbags, aircon etc. ?

I think the reason for no pc games utilizing alot of RAM is because the current consoles only has 512mb of it. Star Citizen (I think) is the first game that will utilize multiple gigabytes of RAM on PC, but expect more games to do it now that playstation 4 has 8GB worth of ram. Hopefully being that its using DDR5 we might see a standard shift towards DDR5 from DDR3 on PC aswell which would be fantastic.

GDDR != DDR. We'll have DDR4 by the end of the year on the PC. We already have GDDR5 on our graphics cards. Don't mix those two up

I have a real machine so powerful it would make Yinchie cum in his pants.

And I also have a PS3.

.. because I love playing games and I don't care if the graphics on the PS3 sucks as long as the game kicks ass.
Games like Little Big Planet, God of War, Uncharted is games you can't get for a PC but at the same time you can't play BF3 on a console with maxed out graphics on 3 monitors powered by 3x 680s.

So I don't agree at all with your sentence. I play the best games in both worlds because I can.

Calling a console a PC is daft because it's not really a peronsal computer. But It is a computer. So you are comparing two computers. And again, one computer can't be upgraded while the other can. So it's silly to even start comparing the two (how are you not geting this?). PC has had all of those features for years now. That's why I don't see the PS4 as "oooh woow thats awsome" since it doesn't really impress me because I have a gaming computer that I upgrade every year.

But sure, people still want to compare apples with pears. Doesnt mean its not stupid. A console could never compare to a PC, even for a month.

But then again, a console fan is gonna come around and say "Noooo sure you can compare and my thing is better because I own it atm".

No consoles are for true gamers your pal is a tit.

Pc vs Consoles makes me laugh as most the games are ports and don't really take advantage of the PC hardware,  just because it evolves quicker doesn't make it better for gaming.  At least when they make a game for a console they take full advantage of the hardware unlike with PC.  I think PC gamers should be glad about the next gen consoles as they might actually see a bigger difference with the game ports this time.

I buy all the consoles, and have a more than decent gaming PC.
People like different things, and some people just want to be able to play all the good games, no matter which system it gets released on.

Anyone saying anything else is pretty much a cunt.
Basically, consoles doesn't matter shit, what matters are the games on said console.

I like that PC is open-ended but by not having a console you're missing out on some of the best games and vice versa.

Yea the exclusives is what makes a console special. I got all the consoles, but as it looks right now I won't be buying a PS4 until a great exclusive comes along (the last guardina!!).
