Rand Paul filibustering (the real kind) Obama nominee.

Senator Paul wrote:

some drama just now, Reid trying to shut it down and Paul not backing down unless he gets in writing from the president and AG that non- combatants Americans will not be killed by drones, why the hell wont they put that in writing?

Russian scientists have claimed discovery of an entirely new type of bacteria in Lake Vostok. Vostok is a sub-glacial lake, sealed under miles of ice and completely isolated from the outside world for millions of years. Obvious implications for extremophiles and extra-terrestrial life.

They brought this shit up from under 2 miles of ice and 1 million years time  to the surface!

The good thing is that it's most likely possible for an organism living in a lake below 2 miles of ice to attack any animals because of the simple reason that it doesn't have any use for that down there.
It's most likely breaking down some minerals creating energy and "food" for itself that way which it can't in the human body.

But I might be wrong!

Look at history and what happened when the Europeans arrived in North America for the first time. The Native American population was decimated from not having any immunity against the pathogen brought over and considered common by the Europeans.

"The exact origin of syphilis is unknown. Of two primary hypotheses, one proposes that syphilis was carried to Europe by the returning crewmen from Christopher Columbus's voyage to the Americas, the other proposes syphilis existed in Europe previously, but went unrecognized. These are referred to as the "Columbian" and "pre-Columbian" hypotheses, respectively. The Columbian hypothesis is best supported by the available evidence. The first written records of an outbreak of syphilis in Europe occurred in 1494 or 1495 in Naples, Italy, during a French invasion. Due to its being spread by returning French troops, it was initially known as the "French disease." In 1530, the name "syphilis" was first used by the Italian physician and poet Girolamo Fracastoro as the title of his Latin poem in dactylic hexameter describing the ravages of the disease in Italy. It was also known historically as the "Great Pox"."

...me think I`m right..it`s made in America.

It doesn't work like that. You really can't compare deceases brought by the Europeans to America with something that has lived below 2km of ice for the last million years.

There's also a theory that the HIV virus was mutated from a similar virus which infected monkeys . The mutation happened when the polio vaccine was being developed(by using the monkeys to produce it). The vaccine was then tested on people in Africa and look what we've got now.

I'm therefore more worried about some stupid scientist not taking the right precautions than some little organism which most likely not even can survive on the surface due to a much lower pressure and higher temperatures.

edit: might add that this theory got many flaws and isn't highly regarded in the science society but I want to spread some conspiracies ^^

@ Arnemes:
You're missing the point completely.Who knows what lives at the microbiological level at any given time in Nature, even today. We haven't discovered everything yet.Not even close.Never mind the Europeans and Natives.Completely inconsequential. That was just to make a point.
We've evolved with the virii and bacteria (yes virii is the proper plural) on surface now and have developed immunity to some.Who can tell what exposure to a million year old segregated bacterium will cause.
That's my point.

"which most likely not even can survive on the surface due to a much lower pressure and higher temperatures."

That's a statement without fact. Here's another one: Maybe that's all it needs to flourish.
