So personal freedom and liberty result in happier and better adjusted population while over control results in the opposite.

Sounds like the reasons my country was formed and why the smarter ones here dislike the government sticking it's nose into our lives.

Belief in biblical end-times stifling climate change action in U.S.: study

"Research by David C. Barker of the University of Pittsburgh and David H. Bearce of the University of Colorado uncovered that belief in the biblical end-times was a motivating factor behind resistance to curbing climate change."

Quote:

“It stands to reason that most nonbelievers would support preserving the Earth for future generations, but that end-times believers would rationally perceive such efforts to be ultimately futile, and hence ill-advised,” Barker and Bearce explained.

That very sentiment has been expressed by federal legislators. Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL) said in 2010 that he opposed action on climate change because “the Earth will end only when God declares it to be over.” He is the chairman of the Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy.

Yep, they refer to the story of the great flood and how god promised to noah that he will never again demolish human kind again. Therefore there can't climate change and even if there was, it can't be harmfull to humans cause bible says so.
Again an example why religion is like a cancer not harming only the religious ones but if not treated in time it will spread and harm all of us.
I hope there is a gene which is a trigger to religious behaviour and scientists in the future find it, then there perhaps can be a solution to this problem, a final solution.

3D-printed Gun CAD Files Pulled from Web

Quote:

"Defcad files are being removed from public access at the request of the U.S. Department of Defence Trade Controls. Until further notice, the United States government claims control of the information."

Kind of a bullshit move as you can BUY printed blueprints of guns and machine your own already..and...as long as you don't give away or sale the finished product you don't need a firearm manufacturers license.

Hell you can buy and/or sale machine gun and cannon parts that are 80% or less machined already without a license or permit!

Well in theory you can make a gun using those prints although you need a $3000 printer that prints in 3D, has a heater plate and can print using harder plastic material.

But I believe this was just some politicians that shit their pants when they heard the news without researching it further.

IRS apologizes for targeting conservative groups (during 2012 election cycle)

dont hold your breath on seeing this in any mainstream news outlets since suppressing opposition voices with government agencies is not a big deal to them (when they arent left leaning groups)

A brothel

We've mulled over opening a titty bar many times, it would be wall to wall drilling crews every night.  These guys get deployed by their companies (mostly headquartered in Texas or Louisiana) and there are almost zero available women around here. They go for month and months without getting laid.  Problem is the people are very religious, god and guns is the mentality in this part of the country (Obonga's bitter clingers). Unfortunately the zoning people would never let it happen, they would consider it a blight on the community.

It could still be pimped out as a "VIP Room" for a grand a night on the internet...but yeah it would also make a nice bar.

DOJ Secretly Obtains Months Of AP Phone Records; AP Condemns 'Unprecedented Intrusion'

Quote:

The Justice Department secretly obtained two months of telephone records of reporters and editors for The Associated Press in what the news cooperative's top executive called a "massive and unprecedented intrusion" into how news organizations gather the news.

The records obtained by the Justice Department listed outgoing calls for the work and personal phone numbers of individual reporters, general AP office numbers in New York, Washington and Hartford, Conn., and the main number for AP reporters in the House of Representatives press gallery, according to attorneys for the AP.
