@demagh

1. you have got to be kidding quoting bbc
didnt those channels promote to the so called, 'the millionya' protest,
that protests was called 'the millionya' before it even start, or counting them,
you believe that it actually contained million different persons ?

3. bottom line: after mubarak word, things was moving to get a 'bit' quiter, and people starting to organize protests all over egypt calling his name, and asking him to stay even more than the 6 months, and many people said that their requests has been fullfilled, ..
who are the people that had motive to re-ignite the fire ?

4. again that is your point of view why he should be gone,
not enough to call him a dictator, or to force him out

5. thats twisting what i said.

6. true, and that is what we should try to fix in the next period.

I'm looking at these pictures being posted and I'm noticing something is missing.  Where are the women?  Do they not want freedom as well?  Do they not deserve their freedom?  Can these people really claim to be fighting for freedom?  Perhaps I'm wrong, but what I'm seeing is not protests for freedom.  If they were really fighting for freedom they would have brought along their women.

This is going to lead to nothing more then another Islamic state.  Which, of course, will only lead to more conflict in this world.  I deplore the Westerners who have jumped the gun in supporting these protests.  You schmucks could very well be hailing the creation of another Islamic State.

I've seen a lot of women protesting. A lot of female bloggers as well are speaking up very clearly. Also, one of the leaders of the protests is a woman IIRC.

I'm not interested in token females.  I was talking about the pictures and videos of the protests.  There are very few if any women in the pictures and videos I have seen.  Maybe there are pics and vids I have yet to see.  Just saying, the one's I have seen it's 99% male.

No, not a conspiracy.  Just typical business as usual for that part of the world.  Cries for the oppression of women are only drowned out by cries for "freedom"... by the same crowd.  Go figure!

For those who said where are the women, they went to protest on the 25th of jan. but after that things got messy and you wouldn't want your wife/mother/sister/gf to be out and face all of this horror would you ?

Saw a lot more women before the clash on the 2nd (especially on the 1st). Think most of the women and children went home and stayed home after it turned violent.

the protests calling the name of mubarak and asking him to stay, on the 1st of february contained men/women/children/elders/familys

Various news agencies are reporting that they are rounding up reporters. Its never a good sign when that starts happening since something is about to go down they don't want the outside world seeing.

I'm sorry, but it really looks to me like you are ignoring everything that is anti-mubarak and just going along like a good little follower :s

Everything I've seen so far, tells me the protestors are right when they say Mubarak should go. I'm not naive. The military has stepped up a notch now, even arresting journalists and shooting at anti-government protestors.

The pro-mubarak protestors are wielding signs and posters no one could be printing out at home. They were supplied by the government.

Police are driving over protestors with their cars, and the shooting has resumed.

This is all the classic signs of a dictator now deciding enough is enough, and taking off the gloves again.

Mubarak needs to go.

Swedish Journalist was just kidnapped.

When they tried calling him, someone answered and said something like "You're man is taken by the military, your sons by whores. If you want him, come get him. Your man is with the government. It lives and is awake"

Those fuckers !! They took our journalist? can you post a link??

gotta look into this, put pressure on the swedish government to get him back home if thats the case !!! I dont think they will do any harm though, they dont wanna get on the badside of one of the most credible and financially stable EU governments

im tired when I write this though, might regret it tomorrow ^^ hehe

EDIT : nooo not Bert Sundström and they took 3 others too...they wont do anything to them though. If it really is the army, they wouldnt dare to do any major harm against a peaceful EU citizen ..atleast I dont think so

There is a difference between keeping the peace, and running over protestors, facilitating violence and disabling communications. Now they've even started kidnapping and beating up journalists.

Since saturday, the anti-mubarak protestors have been largely peaceful. It's only when the pro-mubarak people came (facilitated by the government no doubt) that the real violence started. 600 injured just last night...

Can you post some pics or link to a video which shows a significant female presence.  I don't claim to know exactly what's going on on the ground, but surely if there were women protesting before the violence began there are video and pictures, no?

These pictures are from the Iranian protests.  Can you provide similar pics from the protests in Egypt?  I won't hold my breath while you try to find them.  I really don't see why you are making excuses and justifying women being, essentially, left out of the political process.  You, nor any of these protesters can claim to support freedom so long as you support people who would deny these same freedoms to others.  You're not a freedom fighter if you only want certain groups of people to have freedom, duh!

I have been watching AlJazeera, so haven't actually bothered to take snapshots. Not going to bother to produce them either, I don't care if you believe me or not.

I've not made excuses or ever claimed to be fighting for anyones freedom. I just said what I have seen on AlJazeera during their live coverage. Why are you making up a lot of bullshit I've never said anything about? I have no stake in this at all.

EDIT: Thanks for making my point, pharotorrent. Didn't care to do so myself. There's a ton of coverage everywhere -- free.

Here's a list of attacks on journalists:

I'll indulge your sillyness just for a moment. But I expect you'll let the adults talk after this.

An unprecedented number of Egyptian women participated in Tuesday’s anti-government protests. Ghada Shahbandar, an activist with the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights, estimated the crowd downtown to be 20 percent female. Other estimates were as high as 50 percent.

you sure those are women they look like my mexican uncles wearing hijabs.

btw I have been watching a lot of the live video feeds from aljezera and there is no way those crowds are anywhere near 10% let alone 50% female.

She's just there to carry the water bottles, as is the woman right behind the guy with the jacket. :p
jk, i know it's serious chat.

If there was such a thing happening in my country with ppl being killed, arrested, beaten, etc, i sure as hell wouldn't want my mom, gf, aunt, etc, at the streets...

I mean, take any revolution in any country and you'll see the same! Men will always be in way larger numbers than women, obviously because women are asked not to leave home in fear for what might happen to them. I thought this was pretty much obvious...

Just to add some more incidents of pro-Mubarek supports attacking the press...

Fox News Team Severely Beaten

ABC News Reporter Brian Hartman Threatened With Beheading

Media in the line of fire in Egypt (Al Jeezera)..

Quote:

But most of the intimidation and violence has come from unofficial sources: Young men loiter outside the hotels where many reporters are staying, shouting at (and sometimes attacking) anyone with equipment.

So far I still have not found a single report of any anti-Mubarak protester attack the press
