Mubarak most likely going to step down and give the power to vice president.

A senior member of Egypt's governing party has told the BBC he "hopes" that President Hosni Mubarak will transfer power to Vice-President Omar Suleiman.

Hossan Badrawi, secretary general of the National Democratic Party (NDP), said Mr Mubarak would "most probably" address the nation on Thursday evening.

nothing had changed, problem now, the Egyptian army is being put to a test within these coming hours, it is his departure or our blood.

it was like the greatest porn fetish ever in the history of political announcements, some 82 years old guy fornicating (an) entire nation(s)

The last bit of respect for him was lost.

Many Egyptians fainted, i was about to actually, from the tension before the speech and how meaningless was it.

wish us luck guys

problem is some people are seeing things in black and white and are not willing to make even the slightest compromise. They have made concessions, offered to dialogue with opposition etc...but they have all been rejected by protest groups because Mubarek hasn't stepped down. (queue the blah blah blah you don't understand blah blah blah it's my country blah blah blah everything they say is a lie blah blah blah Mubarek has to go blah blah blah speech)

I am guessing the blood in the street is going to be yours cause it's pretty obvious so far that the Military hasn't been siding with you but holding back. And I seriously doubt he would have pulled this if he wasn't 100% sure the Military is on board.

I hope no harm comes to you..but I am not wishing you luck as you and the opposition are being thickheaded about everything.

you should calm down, and see the people comments on facebook for example,
there is clearly allot of people that dont want him to step down  right now, ...
he has delegated alot of his responsibilities ...

should we just become a country that whenever a group of people want a politician removed, to camp in the streets ... is that democracy ? is that freedom ?

I got to agree. By stepping down in September and allowing the current democratic process to determine the next leader instead of bowing down to the mob is the best overall solution to the current chaos. I know its easy to demonize him for how he has ruled thus far, but in regards to this crisis he has handled himself very responsibly and with great restraint (the death toll could have been enormous if he wanted it) considering the amount of resources he had at his disposal to crush the protests at any time.

i am not against that myself, but tell that to the ppl with deaths in their families/injuries

tell that to one of those who were taken into political prison for 7 years because of the emergency law

tell that to ppl who got no money to fix their teeth to chew on when they heard the estimated wealth of our president 40~70 billion dollars, who was an egyptian pilot in the military with no history of previous business, rich family or whatsoever.

tell that to google's sales manager in the middle east and his 300k+ followers on facebook who are middle class+ feeling prisoners in their own homes and afraid to contribute in anything related to political discussion due to the emergency law .. Wael Ghonaim, the leader of the 25th move himself was taken for 12 days with no apparent reason/crime for investigation without his family members being notified on his status/place.

@VBG
i clearly understand your point, and i know it comes from your wisdom and trial to help, problem remains to those involved politically and legally into the regime's history got US lead by their perception to the REAL reality, and i must say, being involved a bit in their trials before to live peacefully and seeing the actions of the regime affecting two of my closest friends made me one of them, if not through my political views, through my personal relations with them and friendship attachment.

Still waiting for the military response, and you are wrong there, i need to talk in arabic to clarify my point which you won't understand fully i guess, but a short version, there is a great silence from the military right now and a great break up is to be expected in their forces if the decision is to support mubarak's survival "number of soldiers who joined the protesters from the beginning is about 5 now, expected to become 50% if the army was ordered to shoot", and it was analyzed as the military worst decision to make/take in the current situation from many sources.

the great danger/question right now is, what the hell is america doing in our soil right now?! trying to flee american citizens with F18s and 4000 soldiers?!

seems like too much for nothing, unless this is planned to be a 2nd Iraq and time has come.

EDITED:
estimated goers for the protest tomorrow .. was 8 in all cities/streets million till that american utility arrived, don't know if that will increase the numbers or will keep ppl in their homes?!

estimated deaths for tomorrow, if ppl stayed in el tahrir square, zero, if they are going to Palace of Presidency, military related and waiting for announcements

I dont think its over 1000 soldier and they are part of a multinational peacekeeping force thats been in the Sinai for almost 30 years so the Israelis and Egyptians wouldn't feel the need to militarily buildup in that region.

yeah started looking around and I'm seeing things about it as well. TBH outside of evacuating US civilians there would be 0% chance they would be used in any way for or against either side in Egypt since it would require Obama to take sides which he politically cant do as it would pretty much get him run out of office here in the US.

I think the pictures in that news article says it all, if you don't feel like reading it.

Damn!! Looks like Egypt will have a bad future

I hope they keep the Pyramids intact unlike what happened to Bamyan statues

If those guys are allowed by the ppl to protest on the streets, then too bad for them...
If in the past i was happy about the turmoil we see in Egypt (happy in a sense that ppl are fighting for their right of a better life), seeing these religious brainless fucks mingling amongst the protesters is making me having second thoughts.

There has been no multinational or any other non-egyption forces in sinai the last 30 years.

It has been requested by the US and others repeatedly, and Mubarak always refused, and he pointed in yesterday speech that that egypt will not accept any interference from outside forces.

What? What about the MFO. Or the Israeli troops permitted there.

My mistake .. , i wasnt aware of those, and i couldnt find docuemtns about israeli troops permitted in sinai ?
and also those are not what i mean,
I mean the kind of forces that went to iraq and afghanistan to bring democracy to their people

Well no, those kind of forces aren't stationed in Sinai, but qbert95 was talking about run of the mill peacekeepers which the MFO basically are. The Israelis can operate boats or something there. It's in the accords, in the part where the demilitarized zones are described I think.
