Worse in that all the "moments" between characters that was meant to be really deep and important, just felt wooden, cliché.. just shit. Also, the aliens feel completely uninteresting, if they'd built em up over a couple of eps, i might have cared, when they showed them in the first few minutes of the first episode.... blah. No buildup at all, just, oh right some ugly 6 legged aliens..... uhh? And now what, last part of the ep.. telepathic powers/hi-tech link to the zombie kids? Really? Überhightech interstellar aliens using nanotechnology (maybe) to control the kids... and they still can't track a big glowy heatball of humans down :/
Agreed. The show is terrible. The show is not about the sci-fi but rather about the people. So this is a drama with an exterior conflict.
Reminded me of Jerigo, I expected a cool post-nuclair wasteland tv-show but instead it turned into a family drama show...

After watching all the episodes so far, I'm still left with the exact same thoughts that i had after the too long doublepilot: Kill the kid and cancel the show In that order... seriously though, the ending of last episode?
No offense to you christians or americans out there, but WHY do you have to have the uber-christian cute girl in every family drama? I can just visualize the "drama" later on, when she wants to wait for marriage.

the same reason they have to have the European like hippy doctor woman who thinks you can rationalize with the "foreign" invaders who are outwardly trying to destroy them

Altho I am not relegious man, having lived through a war i can realise how they seek confort in God and relegion in general.
However i can't get why that stupid doctor wants to be friend with the alien. I mean. Isn't it logical to capture ASAP few of the aliens and do all sorts of experients on them so we can understand how to destroy them not what kinda music they like. Obviously they have no intrest in talk othervise they wouldn't shoot first and ask questions later.
As soon as we have adequate deffence against them we can chat all we want, untill then no mercy.
The religion in this show is sickening. The end of the last episode was the worst thing I've seen on my TV ever, and I've had 2 girls one cup on it. I'm fine with tv/movies exploring the themes of religion, but in falling skies it's only been used to show how good they think christianity is. There's plenty of room, to discuss the existence of god(s) in scifi, especially when aliens and an end of days scenario is in play, even showing someone lose their faith can be good TV. The plot of the show contradicts the abrahamic God anyway.
This is the best sci-fi show I've seen in my life. The girl providing the heart warming optimism through prayer is so cute. My favorite character besides her is Ben. The two would go so well together.

Shows like Lost, Alias and others pull people in with mysteriousness and puzzling events, things.
Watched episode one of Falling Skies. It was boring. The theme has been seen many times before, there is really nothing new about the setting in this show. Actors are overplaying things like in other crappy shows. I don't see why this show should survive past it's first season. If you like it, hopefully for your sake it does... I however hope for another better show to replace it.
I think the show is fairly good. Atleast there is something pulling the plot onward in every ep... much much faster than what happened whit SG:U. Im maybe expecting a liiiitle bit more stuff done whit "old" fassion effects than what they are doing now whit computers. But back to the point : hey it cant be "hat hat hat hat military action" - all the time. I mean what did you expect from this show ? =D Give it some time, but if you started watching it whit a mid-set - its shit, garbage, pure trash, then why watch it ? Whit SG:U people might have watched it and tell how bad it is compared to the OLDER SG series, but whats the deal here: there has been no other series whit the same "story"/idea before? Or if there has been im sorry im the fool here xD
Hey this is what we have and this is what we have to watch if we want "post alien world war IV scifi series" =D
The glass is either half full or half empty - its your to decide how it is =D

the problem I have is the always make the humans in these shows so god damn stupid that it becomes painful to watch. For example putting the "prized" alien in a some weak ass cage in the same room as the captured kid, the removed alien device, and no armed guards other than the same highly emotional father who just a couple days earlier almost got his teamed wiped out over said kid, seriously you dumb shits?!?! Im actually rooting for the aliens in this show.
lol I just check this thread waiting for that first post saying "wow the first couple of episodes suck but it is really becoming a great show now...spectecular story and twist!!!!!"...but the only thing I read here is...."wow just after I thought it could not get any worse......they proved me wrong" lol.....
so I think I am gonna skpi this show entirely
I can't describe how annoyed i get by watching this. But I still have to watch it just to confirm that it's actually true. Someone HAS actually made a TV show this bad.
did anyone else find it odd that the aliens give those kids guns, but they resort to just screaming and jumping around like chimps on crack until they get blasted?
Explain to me. How can Firefly get canceled after 3 episodes and this crap get picked up for another season?
Joss Whedon=gets a niche audience, not exactly mainstream, also no aliens in Firefly
Spielberg=broad appeal, even housewives watch "sci-fi" when you put in cardboard aliens now and then and have the rest of the show play like any hospital drama on tv.
the key is being human:
-character 1 and 2 sit in a room, walk in a corridor or walk outside from one place to another-
char1: talks about stuff
char2: talks back about stuff, then suddenly starts being human by talking about an emotional issue
*cue emotional music*
char2: continues being emotional in a brave manner, then walks away
reaction shot from char1 who stays behind contemplating how human char2 just was *end emotional music* - repeat scene several times in each episode
housewife wipes tear and waits for next emotional scene
