I've been reading so much on this that my head feels like its about to explode.  I just can't seem to figure out if all games play with the new backup manager and kmeaw's cfw.  If so, do they all play off a USB HD?  Thanks in advance for any info.

Argggghhh this new CFW works perfectly with Rogero's manager but only with intact original games...i.e. my own backups or the ones downloaded through TB work PERFECTLY (the ones I've tried so far anyway). It however will not run games with modified EBOOT files such as the ones people have been running on the dongles...problem for me is my friend lent me his HDD full of 70 PS3 games to run on his PS3 which is using a dongle on 3.41FW which won't work for me unless I can track down the location of the original eboot files.

There are some posted in a thread on psx-scene but it has over a 100 pages and they aren't in one convenient post. I might have to lock myself in my room over the weekend for a day and get it all sorted

I figured out my GT5 problem, it needed the unmodified PARAM.SFO and EBOOT.BIN. I guess the regions don't matter. I'm able to play EU COD:Black Ops online and hopefully soon I can go online with GT5 too. It's still updating, such a big update. GT5 sure does freeze a lot.

Gaia manager now uses kmeaws technique so you don't have to run manually, it'll do it for you!

not sure if i'm gonna take the chance with my cech2504b, anyone know if the risk of bricking is significant or just happen because of user error?

Its user errors/random bricks/failed upgrades aso, your never 100% sure its gonna work, i wont touch these cfw for a while still too new, and since they cfw besides geohot is based on PL3 there will be freezes/lockups on the xmb/ingame, the risk is just too large still, and if its to get online i doubt its gonna be long before sony releases a new firmware so online is over again, if your own a dongle already stay on 3.41 every game works the old way just fine.

In a months time im sure there is gonna be a smooth cfw out thats 100% tested to work with all ps3 models.

So much progress in so little time, might end up installing a custom firmware sooner than I thought, hell I might even buy myself a new ps3 as I am currently loaning my daughters slim and I gave my launch day phat to my son.

Was close to doing the kmeaw cfw today for dead space 2 but as always the fixed eboot was released so i can live with the 10seconds xtra it takes to turn on my ps3 manual.

But reading forums most people are running kmeaw cfw with none problems and seems only a very few bricked there console but by there own fault, but then again some say in matter of hours after installing it they got 10+ lockups/freezes aso in xmb/ingame looking forward to the Waninkoko cfw2 since the new payload.

But lets see what happens in the next few days, im sure we gonna see a 3.56/3.60 firmware from sony very soon also which makes online disapper again which is the biggest reason to be running the cfw's.

Installed the backup manager yesterday, the mega back from multiman or something... Lol dont remember to early!! Its 190mb with allot of game covers!! Was sweet, have not yet seen a freeze or anything! On the kmeaw cfw, though they released a new .pkg fixing the freez yesterday to the kmeaw cfw you should try that out:-)


EDIT kmeaw has updated his lv2 patcher to correct the crashing experienced by some users.

I'm running Kmeaw's CFW 3.55+Gaia manager 2.04 and all my internal+external games are working perfectly EXCEPT Mass Effect 2 but that don't matter, got like 20 other games instead to play =P

Tbh upgrading to 3.55 cfw from 3.41 JB was totally worth it, I suggest you also do it, don't even think Kmeaw have so far bricked any ps3=)

I would advise you to make a backup of your saved files and stuff on your ps3 before continuing

It will work, but no one knows consequences, It  is probably easy for sony to see we are using custom firmware regardless of if u own the game or not.

is there way of not copying to the hard drive where set a hard drive on my computer and play off that

Okay so I have 3.55 kmeaw and a backup manager, I have copied games to my hdd that I have the origional of and they run fine but how about the games I download off of here? How do I get them on my ps3 hard drive? I can put them on an external hdd or flash drive but I don't know how to transfer the games to ps3 .
