I was under the impression only a handful of games work this way ?

Yep maybe 10games works this way but its far from for everyone to mess around with changing this in the eboot files, most games works fine on 3.41 just look around there is plenty of edited eboots to work with 3.41 even if require 3.50, best solution is still the dongle which u can buy for 10-15bucks max depending what you want using a ps3key and had none problems with games other than what others have.

Only thing is you need to edit the paragam.sfo yourself but its easy small program out for it takes you 5secs without tried it before.

#1368623 by unknown[9089] at 2011-01-15 12:11:39 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Yeah I got a resource for modified eboots, for me the dongle is by far the best way until we get what I call a "fully fledged" custom firmware also the dongles I linked although the cheapest I have no idea about they are all so cheap even if you only get a week or two of use out of them its no heartache.

Regarding the .sfo files, doesn't Open Manager or Multiman automatically do this for you if you want ?

I didn't need too I am sure, maybe because I have 3.50 spoof or something already.

As Waterboy is on 3.41 he wont need to think about downgrading or anything so its going to be about as simple as it can be.

How are you getting on finding a UK retailer Waterboy ?

Delivery from the US is actually not that long, its shipping from China that tends to take an eternity in my experiences.

Or do you have a capable Ipod or whatever ?

I tried the auto change for black ops never worked i had to manual hex edit the file for firmware info on all games you own dont remember name, easy to fix but too much of a hassle when it takes no time on pc before ftp files over, still using a older open manager cause when i tried update before it made 2 copies and the new froze the system and aslong games works i dont really care.

#1368653 by unknown[9089] at 2011-01-15 14:54:19 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

didn't you uninstall the old Open Manager first ?

If you dont know you just go to it (don't hit X) and hit triangle and select delete then its gone.

I always do this before installing a new bit of homebrew or updated version.

Well if you delete it from xmb it deletes all games also, and it should work to upgrade done it on my brothers ps3 fine guess i was just unlucky havent tested it since.

Any advance over the weekend ? Think I will wait for the full release and not go with a dongle. Seems slower on uptake than I would have liked.....

Nope and the only bricks are apparently slims.

Going to wait a little while for more people to test it.

Carpy wrote:

Looks like older 1st gen's are being bricked, some say it is the NAND size, others are saying it is the extra ports on that version, the payload dumped on LV2 by Wanin is alot bigger than the original.

I would wait a few more days, its not clear what exact models are going down, some say it's random

#1369365 by unknown[2472] at 2011-01-17 20:50:39 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

I have the newer 80gb fatty, looks to be working with the recent ly released CFW.
So how do I play gt5? I been waiting for a custom firmware that was released recently, so I'm new to this. Only game I have downloaded is gt5.

Anybody have any steps for me to get it working? Are the methods still the same as when dongles are used?

#1369369 by Alibaba86 (Power User) at 2011-01-17 21:01:28 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

it say's that the one with 4 usb ports is the one that bricks

that include the 60 and 80 gb fatty if i remember right and not the 40gb as it has only 2^^

Dude, unless you have some skills when it comes to coding and debuging your just gonna end up with a brick.
THERE IS NO CERTAIN WAY TO MAKE GT5 OR WHATEVER GAME TO WORK AS OFF THIS TIME!
Have you even tried to read the posts about the current stands of CFW over on psxscene yet?

No you say? Then by all means brick away and let us get a good laugh over yet another bricker that cant wait for a few days for a proper CFW and the proper instructions on how to get it done.

Consider the releases so far as pure BETA for BETATESTERS, so unless you can bring some skills to the table:
STAY THE FECK AWAY UNTIL CONFIRMATION THAT IT WORKS.

A dongle and a fixed eboot makes GT5 and almost every other game work just fine on 3.41 firmware.

As for this CFW dont just DONT touch it 50/50 its gonna work for you and then alot still having random freezes ingame and xmb, im sure we gonna see a stable version soon enough, but there is too many "stupid" people out there that cant wait since xxx is famous for ps3hacking releasing new cfw everyone jumps on and install instant its out and bricking there ps3.

Dont understand why you guys dont just buy a dongle 99% of all games works now, only thing you cant is go online, there is tons of PSN games out there also if you just look closer.

Check if your PS3 model has a 256 NAND or a 16 NAND online. Only the latter ones appear to work with Waninkiko's firmware. Mine works perfectly and runs my original backups from Rogero Manager 7.8.

Also not sure how to install games downloaded through TB using this method, any ideas? Or do I need to use a backup manager that supports the downloaded files?
