Im just not really sure its so easy for the regular user to dump your own ps3key, i assume its gonna require soldering and special hardware.

Then create your own CFW i can already see ppl screaming about breaking there console, but its great news for sure.

And with JB2 team require you to buy there special made bluray discs to burn the games on its gonna be crap.

I got a PS3 Slim 120 GB with a 3.60 firmware (fabric setting) and trying to downgrade it to 3.55 K-meaw to play Multiman. When I go onto the consoles System Update it stops at 69% completion with an error message saying:

The data is corrupted. (8002F828).

I've tried looking for solutions on how to downgrade my system to Jailbreak but without success.

Any ideas?

I wonder if it works with retail disks too. This would mean you can just buy retail disks and play them with your 3.55 console. No piracy that way!

Do you still need to have a disc in the ps3 to play jailbreaked games? My Blu-ray drive is broke and I'm not gonna send it in for repair.

I believe so, although I am not sure about the new True Blue dongle and how that all works so perhaps that may be something you could check out.

Sorry I'm big time noob at this and just wondering if this is still possible. I'm thinking about getting a PS3 and I don't play online games at all. I was wondering if there's a way that I can get games download or from CD into the console and play it still? I heard some stuff way back about JB for PS3 then soon after Sony started cracking down on that.

Its still possibole but u need a ps3 with firmware 3.55 max else your screwed unless you wanna work with soldering hardware to get the firmware back again which i doubt, so you need to find a used ps3 that havent been firmware updated.

Rest of the way is easy just need a cfw which is easy found but dont think you can play all the new games that stopped months ago only a handfuld of new games is playable but there is a huge amounts of old games if u want that.

Well there is the "new" True Blue dongle that can play almost all new games with the released paradox patches but still on 3.55 firmware but i havent gotten it myself but see none complains from people using it should work perfect.

Hmmmm really? well that would make it worth having. I'm not a hogger where I want to get all the games, there are only few I like and all I play is single player so no online gaming. Interesting, I am still looking for a good 3.55 or lower system and I want to get one for the heck of it

P.S. I actually just got a 160GB with version 3.10....old as hell but the thing works great and has not even 1 scratch on it. Some older guy had this and mainly used it as a blu-ray player. So I guess let the searching begin on how to jailbreak this thing........I feel like it's my first time overclocking my PC.

Ok so let me get the steps correctly from what I've read in ps3hax....First thing, I thought a USB dongle was needed to run?

So all I need to do is download PS3 CFW kmeaw pack for v3.55 (PS3UPDAT.PUP and .PKG)
and follow all the steps listed to update to 3.55, install homebrew and linux and would be able to run games from HDD?

This doesnt include a lot of the new games right? I have seen a lot of patches which are for the true blue dongle, none that work directly on KMEAW

Thats true all newer games requires true blue dongle, but its a mess still only some games gets a patch some they release on pirated bluray discs only which cant be ripped to play on hd so you need to buy those.

Well I got blockbuster subscription so I can rent games no problem. Which is why I was wondering if I'd be able to play them on the PS3 HDD and play.

Well all games thats already released that requires max 3.55 firmware you can rent and copy to the HDD with multiman without a problem and keep playing without the discs, besides that you are stuck like everyone else for the past 4months or something with new games.

Worst part is games like metal gear solid HD collection and final fantasy 13-2 never gotten a patch either cause they want you to buy those games from them so fucking stupid, more games out there which never has or will get a patch to use with the dongle.

But as for a new CFW im starting to doubt we will ever see it the ps3 hacking scene is so anti piracy based thats its crazy, which i dont get just look at xbox360 new dashboard out and 1-2days later they already fixed it.

Today we received word from Dutch site OmbouWnederland.nl (ConsoleWinkel) of a rumor that a Sony PS3 Blu-ray drive emulation PCB is currently in development which will allow users to unlock their PlayStation 3 console without the use of Custom Firmware or dongles.

Reportedly they have been in contact with ChinaDistrib.com who stated a team (possibly the Wasabi or Drivekey team) is working on the PS3 Blu-ray drive emulation PCB that is slated for release later this year.

They have also speculated via e-mail that the project has been kept under tight wraps due to Sony being unable to stop this new PS3 hack via Firmware updates, meaning once it becomes public Sony's legal team will be on the warpath in full force.

Below are some concept pictures (not actual finished product pictures) from their site and the details, roughly translated as follows:

PlayStation 3 drive emulation

No hacking, no flashing, no modding. Emulation is the future. A team is currently working on a new hack for the PlayStation 3.

The Blu-ray player, Sony's PCB has been cracked and costs can thus be gekloont. The team probably Wasabi or Wiikey team is currently working on this for the board to connect to an external HDD.

This can be downloaded games played as Wasabi360 and Xkey for the XBox 360.

A major retailer in China has also indicated that this year is released.

Very good news if its true so we can finally have a "perm" working hack for the ps3.

There's some new things happening in the scene. Maybe things will get back on track.
