Hey, I had a console with the exact same problem. Opened it up and tried to fix it but ended up destroying it even more. Your laser lens is probably finished and it can't be fixed without buying a new. After my attempts to fix the blu-ray drive, the console basically froze, so that I couldn't install any homebrew etc. I fought with it for days until I realized that I could take the whole drive out and only leave the small circuit board that connects the drive to the rest of the PS3.

Now I can play some games, basically any game that you have yourself and can backup (or can backup from a friend) will work. So in other words, the eboot has to be original and the whole game has to be a straight rip without any modifications, otherwise it won't work without a disc in the drive..

Whether you have ripped the game yourself or have downloaded an unmodified jailbreak rip of the net (I have not seen a single modified ps3 game rls) the need for a disk in the drive or otherwise is exactly the same.

The files saved you yourself rip from the original disk are no different from the files you download when you get a good scene (or none scene) ps3 release.

As I say, every single game release I have downloaded and its easily over 100 now have not been modified at all and will be identical to the same game whether I had ripped it myself or not.

Well we can only think and wonder what "these other" / "minor features" are? Also it sad that "non-paying" PSN users have to update just for a "major feature" that only "paying" PSN Plus members can use. It seems more and more Sony is going towards the "PAY ONLY" model of marketing of the PS3 system. And back to the drawing board for all those CFW spoofers and other firmware update workarounds!

A smart group of forum users over at PS3ITA have released a new CFW for the v3.55 PS3 Console owners, that allows for full PSN Access!

We were waiting for new developments about online game on custom firmware (see kmeaw, geohot and others) when one of the brightest minds of our team has produced what we might call, the fastest possible access for the PSN.

The firmware is based on Kmeaw’s custom firmware, to which were added 2 small patches which allow access to the PSN!

Access is fast,no PC is needed to serve as a ” bridge “and then programs like ****Psn or charles, skipping the check of the model (debug, retail, reftool, etc.) and setting of the PS3 fw at 3:56 .. (not in the XMB)

Of course the risk of BAN is still high and being a CFW, ps3ita assumes no responsibility for any brick during installation.
Remember installing a CFW is totally at your own end-user risk, and you must take full responsibility for your own actions, plus clearly understand that Sony has the full right and legal terms and means to BAN your PS3 console and/or PSN account from any online access at anytime!

Tested and working on Kmeaw 3.55 Slim PS3 and launch day Phat.

No previous FuckPSN or anything like that.

Yeah I can confirm latest multiMAN working fine with the 3.60 spoof too.

I downloaded Homefront but have not tested it yet, not sure if it works with 3.60 spoof or not.

Yes, I believe so.

I have not done any of the psn login methods in the past and I just installed the 3.60 spoof .pkg file, launched it, hit X I think it was, then it told me to restart my PS3 and that was it, all done.

If you have had fuckpsn or anything I think you have to put the original certificate files back but having said that my friend is on PSN right now playing Black Ops using the latest fuck psn method.

Which one is the best I cant say but the easiest is certainly the spoof.

Now i installed OPENPS3FTP, multimanager, GAia manger NONE OPEN! they either crash or give me the error code 80029519. AM i missing something very basic?

edit: got Blackbox FTP 1.2 to work. But no multimanager/gaia?!?

depends on what version you got of multiman, if you have one of the early ones you need to run lv2.pkg

i got two versions: 1.16.08 and i heard you need the dbemu.pkg so i have that too

and then i have the 1.13.04 and that doesnt work either.. but i dont have lv2.pkg so i tried it without lv2.pkg

well, I update the the latest version of multiman on my brothers ps3 (slim)
but i did JB when you needed the lv2.pkg, so it has just been there, he dont need to run it to use multiman

on my ps3 (fatty) i also did JB when you needed that, but this has a multiman version 15 something, but dont use the level2.pkg on it... but you can try it?

but when does it crash, when you try to load any games, or at the start up...

if is crashes when you try to load a game, try to run the permision fix in multiman, dont know if the gaia has one as i never used that

1. Alibaba: The actual packages dont load : when i press multi manager or Gaia or whatever then the screen goes black and tries to load them and then jumps back to XMB

2. ROCKmyJOCKZ: i downloaded the Base version from there. Doesnt work.. do i need to downkload something else? sorry im noob

You need to start from scratch again, install 3.55 OFW from recovery menu, then kmeaw 3.55, blackb0x and multiman. You should be fine after wards.

Latest version of multiMAN and BDEMU.pkg work perfectly and so does the built in FTP on multiMAN.

You just have to set flashFXP to passive mode if I recall correctly for the built in multiMAN ftp to work.

Ok i did it all from scratch:
1. i installed OF 3.55
2. i formatted and restored ps3
3. i installed CFW 3.55 kmeaw
4. i installed package: UP0001-GAIA01985_00-7679866932773369-V2.07-GAMEZ
5. i ran package: Gaia Manager
6. Screen goes BLACK and nothing happens
7. running lv2-9.pkg -> this also just crashes to XMB

still doesnt work??

Use multiMAN, its the best, period.

It has the best feature set and rivals if not exceeds in game compatibility.

Did you install the correct multiman version ?

Do not install the version with WT in the title.

That`s all I can think of.

edit: Tried restarting PS3 ?

Ok i figured it out:

It is my HDMI connection:
A while back, any game i RAN would crash to XMB.
I bought a new HDMI cable, same problem

I bought a COMPONENT CABLE -> Washed out colours (very soft red colours, blue is fine)
Games would play on component cable
(multi manager works on component cable!!)
Edit: I bought a second COMPONENT cable, still washed out colours

For some reason, Games started to work on HDMI again (dont remember what i did??)!!

Solution for now:
Multimanager works with component cable flawlessly, Meaning i will have to play on washed out colours! What a STRANGE problem right? ANy clues?

Rest the display, press and hold the power button when you turn the ps3 on and keep it pressed until you hear 2 bleeps I think it is.

It should reset all the display settings and detect your HDMI, had that problem a while back and I am sure that show I sorted it.
