Im planning on doing the 3.55 CFW as I haven't updated my PS3 to 3.56 yet. Downloading the package atm.

Got a few questions tho:
Anyone reported being banned from PSN yet?
If you get banned, will you only lose access to playing online, or do you lose access to PS-Store as well?
Jailbreaking won't make your PS3 backwards compatible with PS1/PS2 games, rght?
If using an external HD, it has to be FAT32?
What would you consider a valid reason for NOT jailbreaking your PS3? Except getting banned from PSN?
Is there any compatibility-issues with the newest PS3's? I bought the "PS3 with GT5"-package which is a 320GB 25048 (?) PS3.

Kmeows CFW works fine on all ps3`s.

Done my launch day ps3, a phat with only 2 usbs and no card readers and a slim with zero problems at all.

Regarding the PSN ban, when it comes and I am sure it will it will mean you cant log onto PSN, so no, you wont be able to access the PSN store either.

I would be extremely surprised if sony partially banned modders from PSN.

I have seen loads of PSN titles for download on many different trackers so I am assuming they work just fine, not tried any myself yet though.

from what i can make out sony don't have the server power to ban

a free network with i'm guessing next to no money poured into it, don't forget PSN isn't LIVE

You can have both installed no problem, think of installing the managers as the same as when you installa demo from psn.

They are just listed like demo`s are.

Regarding games without a disk, some work and some dont.

I am not sure how updated this list is but it may be useful for checking if you can play a certain game without disk, internal or external etc etc.

TB is the only torrentsite is use and the PS3 games are killing my ratio
as i dont have a good upload speed.

I'm having some theoretical issues with multiMAN. I downloaded a package and it contains a load of files. And I can't find any install instructions. Anyone who have multiMAN and can tell me which files to use?

the ones i currently got are:
multiMAN [Last Game] 355GH.pkg
multiMAN [Last Game].pkg
multiMAN ver 1.14.00 BASE [20110125_160000] 355GH.pkg
multiMAN ver 1.14.00 BASE [20110125_160000].pkg
navigation.txt
options_defauilt.ini

As far as i can tell, i'd use the 355GH BASE file, since I'm on a 3.55 FW system.
And i assume "Last Game" is some sort of addon which isn't required for the app?
But what about navigation.txt and options_default.ini?

I assume i just put the files needed on the root of my USB flash drive and install as a package? Like with Gaia?

Since i'm a total rookie at jailbreaking a PS3, I thought it better to ask, than to screw something up

EDIT: And i really wish CFW would support NTFS external drives..

355GH is for Geohot 3.55 CFW.

If you have Kmeaws 3.55 (its the best one) then you use

multiMAN ver 1.14.00 BASE [20110125_160000].pkg

Same with the Last Game files, use the 355GH if your on Geohot 3.55 CFW otherwise use this one

multiMAN [Last Game].pkg

Last game is optional by the way, it simply gives you the ability to quickly boot the last game you were playing.

I am on Kmeaws 3.55 CFW and all I do is put these files

multiMAN ver 1.14.00 BASE [20110125_160000].pkg
navigation.txt
options_defauilt.ini

into the root of my external and go to install package files and select multiMAN ver 1.14.00 BASE [20110125_160000].pkg.

I don't think you need the navigation text but I always stick it on the drive anyway, tried the last game thing a day or so ago and then removed it, it seamed to work ok but it just cluttered up the xmb imo.

edit: out of curiosity, why are you not using the multiman mega pack ? its got loads of themes and game covers, only a couple of hundred mb too so I always go for that one.

Yeah i'll try the MEGA pack. Only downloaded the BASE version because I was on a very limited connection last night (missus nagging for a movie to finish downloading)

That's what I get for living in the middle of nowhere....

The covers are just in a folder, while the themes have to be installed as a package, or am I wrong here? (the pack hasn't finished downloading yet

)

1 update/install CFW
2 install lv2.pkg
3 install manager (Gaia and/or multiMAN)
4 install game
?

you don't need lv2.pkg any more, its built into both Gaia and Multiman.

to be honest no game installation needed really, just put the game folder on your external (or ftp to the internal) and multiman will see the games and list them for ya, its all pretty self explanatory once you actually see multiman loaded up.

And not sure about the themes as I have not tried a different one yet but the covers I think are in a folder some place, although multi man can automatically download covers for you assuming your ps3 is connected to the internet (no psn needed for this just an active internet connection)..

Ok, installing CFW went fine, installing multiMAN and Gaia worked fine.
But the game

I copied the game to /dev_hdd0/GAMES but the game browser in multiMAN can't find it
I tried with Worms 1.01, maybe it's the game that is at fault?
When i copied it to /dev_hdd0/GAMEZ however, i could find it in Gaia game browser, but trying to start it just returned me to XMB

Gonna try with another game.
