Awesome show, as to be expected though.

I think it's gonna be 10

From what i've heard it's only going to be a 10 episode miniseries.
Probably misunderstood it, but it's 10 episodes that's been made already though.

Dunno but checking out the IMDB page shows the amount of episodes each actor is in with one having 9 episodes and none having 10.

Also for those with the hard on for the big name actors like Shaun Bean and lena headey I wouldn't advise looking at that list

Well they ordered 10 episodes to start with at least which is how it's usually done =)
If it stays at 10 eps for the first season remains to be seen.

This is the best thing I've seen in a long time.
Might be difficult to get into if you haven't read the books though...

Not necessarily true. I'm one didn't read the books and enjoyed the first episode. Of course there was a bit of confusion here and there regarding certain characters and family lines. HBO put together something that I think helps out...

Exactly my thoughts, never read the books and just jumping in and watching the show, I felt a complete jump into the story with very little backstory given. Basically with no knowledge starting off, youre going to be lost for the first 45 minutes and not until the end and watching the "episodes to come" segament do you almost understand what things are setting up

I do think that this is going to be a good series, and I think things will progress nicely with each episode and will get easier to follow.........but

HBO seriously IMO dropped the ball on this first episode, if youre like most HBO viewers and coming in with no prior knowledge of this "alternate universe", youre going to be pretty lost and turned off (story wise) for most the first episode.

Ehhh...i'm one of those that just jumped into the show with no knowledge of the books and don't ever plan on reading the books. I watched the first episode and...yes...i was lost for the most part but I have enough sense to fill in gaps and use my imagination as far as what's going on and was correct for the most part when I later went to HBO's game of thrones website guide.

It was slow moving for me, but I tend to give shows about a 4-5 episode run until I give up on them unless they're completely terrible. Sons of Anarchy and Dexter were two shows I remember watching the first episode and just kinda being "meh" but ended up being the greatest shows I've seen.

Well, I listened to the audiobooks, and no big fan of the books really. Though  they have some elements that are very good, they also have alot of things annoying me

Anyway, the first episode, it felt very fragmented to me, like lots of segments put together but there does not seem to be anything really connecting them. The books share that problem though, so I guess it's no big surprise.

Despite this I'd say it's the best fantasy show I've seen in years.

to be fair audiobooks are almost always condensed versions of the book.

I was expecting the direwolves to have grown a bit by the time Bran got pushed out the window or maybe I remember the passage of time wrong/mix things up from the books.

Isn't that... exactly what happened? The wolves growing a bit. They not only show the dogs but even say as much.

"I would let his whole army fuck you, 40000 men, even their horses, if that's what it takes". Pro quote! xD

On a serious note, great fucking show. Can't expect much else from HBO tho!

Ep 1 was okay... but they totally failed with the first episode as an introduction for people new to the series, felt like there was too many jumps and random characters for even my imagination to keep up.

But the cinematography was great, and the acting was pretty solid, with a rather coherent and interesting world... so it will probably be a major hit especially with that second season already coming up.
