No, it was a webrip. Episode 3 airs tomorrow I think (monday) on HBO One or Premiere or something. You can be one week ahead if you are a subscriber, and some people just rip it from the HBO service and release it to public. I'd rather wait for the HD and follow the tv crowd.

I will do the same until the season finale!

Yeah, I'm not getting where you guys get this from, but it doesn't work like that. Sorry.

Well I had no idea how it worked, but I just guessed it would be every week =(

I was thinking how fucking lucky these Noblemen are, they way Greyjoy was just fondling the chick on the horse ride over to the castle was just hot as hell, then that reveal urgh!

In case someone was wondering why they changed Asha greyjoy's name to Yara, it's because they were afraid it would cause confusion wit Osha. I had to find out about this, cause it was annoying me a bit. But it's fair enough.

Whats wrong with the name Osha other than sounding like Asha?

Finally got round to watching all of season 1 and the 2 episodes of season 2  and thoroughly enjoyed them, especially Tyrion who could have a spinoff series all of his own in my book

Felt like a weak episode, imo. First time I was left kind of disappointed with this show. The problem is that they have too many characters all at once and especially in this shorter episode, 54 min not counting theme music, there isn't a whole lot of space for ~10 characters. I was expecting them to focus mainly on Arya in this episode, but they didn't really. Some scenes like the one with Littlefinger - we get it, the pleasure house of Lys caters to all kinds of... perversities including Littlefingers, could have been cut out. 6/10. All other episodes have been between 8-10/10 for me. Hope we get fewer characters and more story progressing.

I wonder if we'll see Syrio Forel again.
George R. R. Martin said that he wasnt immortal, but that is not an definite answer...
He's such a great character. Would be a shame if he was killed off screen.

The shocker is that Martin is not even close to finish The Winds Of Winter, damn it, the status update still says "Done: ADWD" from April 2011. If they start shooting A Storm of Swords fall 2012 it will be ADWD fall 2013. That means, to make a decision for season 5 they need to have a finished book TWOW early 2014. Never ever is Martin done with that book in less than 2 years.
Even if he manages that somehow, it would give him one year to finish the last book ADOS for season 6.

I hate to say it, but that series is doomed and will be the first tv series canceled due to lack of content.
Or even worse Martin rushes the books to meet the HBO requirements.

For me other than Peter Dinklage's character I watch this show more for the visuals than anything else.

I think if they want to drag it out they can probably break a book into two series.

And you guys have no clue about taking a long time to finish a series. Nothing beats Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time books, I read the first one in 1990 before half of you were even born, and it's still not finished and the author died.

martin is unpredictable, some of his books he finished in 2 years, and others took like 4 or 5 years.

I used to joke around with my sister about him dying before finishing the WoT. Then it actually happened..
But meh, I'm sure Brandon Sanderson will do and has done a good job.

I'm wundering if I should start reading the books now, I'v thought about it for a while, but haven't gotten myself to buy them yet. The thing is, when I read the HP books and then saw the films, I allways felt that something I personally loved in the books missed out in the films. Now when I'm watching GoT I think it's great, but do any of you guys really feel that something important have been left out?
Should I start reading the books now, or wait untill further into the series. . .hmm?
And finally, now after watching the first series will the first book not be that great, since I know about what is going to happen?

Game of Thrones is more true to the story than Harry Potter although it does leave out a lot of material. But that's unavoidable when you change format from books to TV. I personally would've wanted the hound to be a more complete character with more screen time.

I started reading the books after I'd finished season 1 of the tv-series and I still thought that the first book was excellent. The tv-series is like a summary of the story, really.

Nah, I haven't read WoT since I was a kid. I'm probably going to start rereading the entire series in a month or so now that I've heard good things about the new books from this thread.

A Storm of Swords will most likely be two seasons, due to it being quite huge.

I also read somewhere that during or after A Storm of Swords, the show will deviate fromt he books a lot. If I remember correctly, this was because of the lack of content. I can't find where I read this, but I'll keep on looking.

I did exactly the same. Reading the book after watching season 1 was actually quite awesome. Got so much more insight, and it wasn't weird cause there's not an enormous amount of deviation from the book to screen.

That book doesn't have anything to do with WoT, it is a new series by Sanderson. It is pretty good.
