When John Arryn (the previous Hand before Ned) found out that Robert was not the children's father, he told Stannis. However, when Arryn was killed, Stannis left the small council and retreated back to his castle at Dragonstone. He never told Robert, and seemingly for the first book, he did nothing. Ned sent Ravens to him a few times, but he already knew about the incest and never responded.

I believe Lord Tywin and Tyrion knew about the incest, or at least suspected it. Tyrion didn't seem surprised at all, and Lord Tywin just seemed to brush over the whole thing and ignore it, which is why the Lannisters are not susprised that Renly and Stannis are moving against them.

The Starks on the other hand never know the truth for certain until the second book. The scene from the finale where Catelyn is asking Jaime questions is actually half of a chapter from the second book. He is chained up inside her father's castle in Riverrun, and in the full chapter he tells her everything about why he pushed Bran.

In the second book, Stannis also sends messages to every king/lord/lady telling them that Joffery is not Robert's true son and that he was born form incest, so they might have slipped that into season 1 without telling us.

Ye, i didn't like him in the beginning, now i love him. He's just owning that role, i hate him so bad but at the same time i love him for him being so good to make me hate him this much! Could so easily have went in the wrong direction with his character and made him look stupid instead with bad acting. He's nailing it. As is tyrion, love that little fucker.

Luckily I never bothered to watch this show until now so I had all 10 episodes to watch. Man I hate how long HBO breaks between seasons are.

Really like the show and the ending was great. Hate that smug Joffrey kid though. I haven't read the books or anything but I hope he dies, haha.

A big name for a minor character like Margaery Tyrell, if they will go by the books she will have only briefly apparitions.
I`m more curious to see who will play an important character like Stannis Baratheon....there are rumors about names like Christopher Eccleston, Mark Strong, Richard Armitage or Rufus Sewell.
