Martin says they are thinking about which character receives more screentime in season 2 than appearance time in book 2 - I hope they will make the right choices. But after they did so surprisingly well in season 1 I think we can trust them.

Martin moved several chapters from A Dance With Dragons into The Winds Of Winter and mentioned a few weeks back that he started working on TWOW directly. The problem is, he does to much signing, traveling, conventioning and shit chatting on his blog while selling crap like miniatures and cheap swords and on top of that he now (re)writes screenplays for the TV show too.
I hope he will get very old because A Dream of Spring (Book 7) won't be out before 2025, I'm afraid.

Dragons, magic and witches.. I feel like such a geek watching this show.

That sigil or sign that the dragonbitch used for her ritual looked like the same symbol that the zombies were forming in the first episode, when they were on the ground, pretending to be dead and all.. might suggest then that there is something more beastly beyond the Wall than wildlings ;o)...

Started to watch this show after reading this thread (went through eps 1-9 in 2 nights last week) and I liked it a lot. And even if I would not have liked it, I would have to follow it, just to see that boy king getting his head cutted and the somebody shitting into his throat.
As an atheist, I would follow that dragonbitch as a deity anyday,I'll bet hOG would too, he would even like to be the bitches own bitch. Well, so would I.
The midget guy is also great, great character and great performance by the actor, and he is the one in the show who is banging the ex porn star, respect.

As a sidenote, looks like this fantasy style old era as genre is going strong again,in the era they are located,it's easy to represent gore,violence and sex, they naturally belong to it and the audience ofcourse love it, being it spartacus hacking limbs off or midget getting head from the village whore.

this series made my go out and buy the books just because i cannot wait to see what happens, no way i can wait for season 2 to air to find out what happens, not to speak of season 3 and 4 (if they make one season pr book).

She never was a pornSTAR. Her porn days are long over, in fact she is a respected actress since 2004 and was the lead in the critically acclaimed movie HeadOn.
She also was awarded Best Actress in 2010 at the TriBeCa Festival for her performance in WhenWeLeave. So yes, she did porn but no she isn't like Sasha Grey who IS a star but sucks in The Girlfriend Experience.

Pretty solid ending. I'll be looking forward to next season as this show really hooked me early on. Dragons will be interesting to see how that plays out.

I do wonder why they call it the 7 kingdoms? The map seems to indicate there are 9 kingdoms? Or is Winterfell some kind of province or puppet state? So what exactly are the 7 kingdoms?

I also wonder why people live north of the wall if that place is said to be so horrible. You'd expect that people won't survive/stay there for longer periods of time. Also what is "The Gift"?

What was that military crossing at The Twins about? Seems like a huge toll (marrying off 2 family members and whatnot) just to cross a simple river. While watching I expected it to be some sort of Istanbul (Turkey) situation.

Its the only way over the river, which means that the one in control of the crossing really is in control of the only safe passway. So he usually gets what he wants

As Rapparsven pointed out, that was the only safe crossing over the river, its bigger then a simple river. They could build boats and what not i guess, but you'd need a lot of boats to carry over a force that large.

"The gift" is all the land south of the wall within a certain distance. I don't know exactly how much distance, 20-30 km, I guess.
It was given to the Night's Watch from one of Eddards ancestors if I remember correctly, or from some friendly version of the Targaryans. Some other King/Queen (don't know anymore) extended the old "gift" by some extent and that was the "new gift".

I think it has been implied somewhere in the last episode that lord stannis has began marching for his throne. I found it's a bif odd except if the letter he received from ned stark revealed that Joffrey is not the rightfull heir because he's not Robert's son. The thing is, both winterfell and lanister house seem to accept stannis move without questioning his reason for it. I don't think winterfell knew this secret because lady stark still asking jaime for an answer. Does tywin and the imp knew about this? Can someone explain this situation? pls use spoiler tag if appropriate.
