Apologies. I do usually use spoiler tags, but that didn't seem like much of a spoiler as I don't actually know what happened to him.

I agree..didn't seem like much of a spoiler at all as both the person who has read the book and those that have know exactly the same information about what happened to him........nothing.

The difference is that if you have only seen the TV show you might think that he returns in a couple of episodes or in the next season etc. But if you then get the information that after 3 books he still hasn't been mentioned you can pretty much conclude that he is dead and that he won't return.

The point is that you should use the spoiler tag as soon as you write something that hasn't been shown on TV yet.

oh god yes that was what was on everybody's mind

The point is that if people keep pissing me off with this whole "every solitary thing mentioned in the book is somehow a fucking spoiler" I swear to god I will go get every fucking piece of information that would possibly REALLY piss you off to know and post it in this thread in giant bold caps.

Of course people can talk about the books in general just some of the posts in here have had waaaay too much information in them and if people want to continue posting I suggest they use a modicrum of common sense. As I said I totally agree that people have crossed the line but this whole nazi ass idea that is someone tells you that a charactor farts three books in the future that it's somehow going to ruin the show for you is ridiculous and annoying. Saying that a charactor is killed or maimed is a major spoiler and shouldn't be posted even with a spoiler tag. Saying a minor charactor disappears is something people should be able to live with without crying a fucking river over.

This right here.

Some minor character may become major character and some people who disappear may return surprisingly.
The way Martin tells his story implies that you don't wanna know anything ahead of time.
Even indirect information is spoiler relevant. Things like character XY is a POV character in Book 10 -> so it is safe to assume he survives every encounter until then.

Actually I was very curious about that, I liked that character.

I figured that when we see the knight that was fighting Arya's sword master is alive and well later that the swordmaster must have lost.

I don't think they should put stuff in the series that isn't in the books. Even if there are brutal battles in the books, they are always about the characters and story.

Only thing that is cut-back on so far are the wolves, and I totally understand that, because they would have been extremely hard to do justice even with loads of money.

Look at the cast for Stannis Baratheon...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1851397/

...I`m curious how he will deal with the character.

Oh snap, that's awesome.

I think he'll do a good job and he seems a wise choice as a well known character to replace Sean Bean.

He did a good job playing King Leonidas, and Stannis Baratheon doesn't seem a far cry from him, straight laced, stern, unflinching. I assume they'll use him as the face of season 2 like they did with Sean Bean for season 1, as he's a big name and one of the main characters in the second book.

UPDATE on fake IMDb casting: We have to address the issue of a prank that has gained track and triggered reactions cropping up left and right. Similar to the fake Catelyn casting for the pilot, someone has listed Gerard Butler as Stannis on IMDb. If the listing was for the next season, fine … I would never believe it, but it could make for a fun discussion, and I agree with FaBihoff here that it might spur HBO to release the real name sooner. However, Butler is said to appear in the final episode tonight, and we know that GRRM has been viewing Stannis audition tapes for season two. It’s completely fake, people, someone is messing with the fans. Don’t give them the satisfaction.

I haven't watched last week's episode yet.  I downloaded it and have saved it so that I can watch a double episode season finale.
It's called will power and no, spoilers don't bother me.

How do you like that?

EDIT:
Holy crap is it Xmas today?

Wont go in to specifics til everyone seen the finale but i must say i did expect more of the seasons last episode, Baelor would have been better as a season finale with small modifications to the story

Yeah for sure, it was great!

I also loved the odd pair of Arya and Gendry going with the black. The dead kings only real son and the dead hands daughter.

Id follow the dragon bitch

she at least gave her people the choice to follow her unlike these other selfish royal fuckers on the show who send thousands of men to their deaths to save a few people from their own families.

Is it wrong that I spent more time starting at the latter rather than the former? :-D
