So probably a lot of scaling down.

Thats not a good sign

So a show like the walking dead but with only 2 zombies instead of 200, you get the picture.

They had better get the dragons right

Well no.
The battles in the book have something like 8000+ soldiers on each side.
They are probably scaling it down to be something like 5000 soldiers all together ( with CGI ).

Most likely they'll only show the key moments of battles. I doubt they will bother showing the whole battlefield.

And actually, the battle where Robb captures Jaime is never actually played out in the book, as the chapter is told from Catelyn's perspective you only learn about it from other people describing it to her.

Game of Thrones' Sean Bean Stabbed in Bar Brawl

Quote:

According to the Daily Mail, the incident kicked off when the 52-year-old Bean and 22-year-old Playboy bunny April Summers (real name Nadia Foster) went outside Camden's Hill Bar and Brasserie to smoke. A passerby spotted the duo (or at least one half of the duo) and began making lewd comments, leading Bean to confront the big talker.

All was seemingly well until the stranger returned later on, at which point a scuffle broke out, and Bean was reportedly punched in the face, causing a bruise over his eye, and stabbed in the arm with broken glass. Despite his wounds, Bean refused any medical attention and opted not to go to a hospital.

Instead, the actor accepted a first aid kit from the bar staff, then ordered another drink.

fuck off Charlie Sheen there is a new man in town!

I was always a little pissed that Boromir was the only one of the fellowship that died.

That really sucked at the end.  I was looking forward to a rematch between boromir and the king slayer.

but they did not do that with a battle of several thousand

Bye Ned. I thought you known it better to defend your honor than lie and die like that. "One does not simply walk into baelor" without a plan. I pissed at sansa. This is all  her idea. It's a shame to not known your own father and believe he's a traitor.

The battle to capture Jaime was never several thousand. They found out that Jaime had been personally leading hunting parties to capture raiders who were attacking local areas. So Robb's men raided a local area to draw them out, then when Jaime came to hunt them down they ambushed him in the Whispering Woods and captured him. Only a few hundred men were involved, probably less.

The way the books are written (each chapter from a different persons perspective), means you rarely actually see the battle described first hand. In fact, in the first book, the only battle that is described first hand was when Tyrion was fighting against part of Robb's army, but they didn't even show that in the last episode.

No i was refering to the diversion that led 2000 men against the lannisters while robb did that

I guess that's why the knocked out Tyrion, so they didn't have to show the fighting, as it was from his point of view. Cheap tactics

did the dancemaster get away ?

cant rem that i heard anything about that?
last thing i rem i saw was that the wood sword that he used to take them all out with was broken, but he should have been able to disarm one of those guards easy and kill the rest and escape???

Apparently a spoiler:
I'm in to the third book and Syrio hasn't been mentioned since then, which could mean he's still alive, but Arya assumes he is dead.

Nice use of the spoiler tag Shadowise!

It's a good thing the actual show doesn't hold the same quality as this thread!

#1410457 by dodeliatcha (User) at 2011-06-16 16:46:41 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

no spoilers from the books...seriously !!

I mean sure..you can expect spoilers from the tv show..especially episodes that've already aired, and maybe upcoming episodes..and also some speculation...but seriously..do you have spoil from two books ahead? without using spoiler marks :p??

this was a minor spoiler though

#1410459 by fgdfgDonor (User) at 2011-06-16 16:53:08 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

maybe we  can get a spoiler warning for this thread?[like the warning about imgw in the random image pic thread ]

or inside the thread title something like "Game of Thrones" [Spoilers inside]

thanks in advance

If people are so concerned with all the spoilers in this thread why don't they just created a new thread with the title "Game of Thrones, the TV series !!NO SPOILERS!!", or something similar?

#1410472 by DrevoKocour (Power User) at 2011-06-16 18:23:32 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Yeah, that way they won't be surprised when someone reveals that they execute Jaime or something.

#1410475 by TaboleDonor (Power User) at 2011-06-16 18:31:06 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Just use tags explaining whether it's a book spoiler or not. Example:

"OMG. I can't wait to see [Book spoiler]:
the Red Wedding
"

Or, how about people just take a gander of where this topic is, it's in the movies and TV section, not fucking book section.

Please remember to use spoilers if it's about the books and episodes we haven't seen. Simple as that, it's common decency for crying out loud.

You're obviously here just to create trouble, or start a fight or an argument. Can you please get the fuck out of this thread now? Fucking troll.

And what Snuffsis said.

Apologies. I do usually use spoiler tags, but that didn't seem like much of a spoiler as I don't actually know what happened to him.

I agree..didn't seem like much of a spoiler at all as both the person who has read the book and those that have know exactly the same information about what happened to him........nothing.

#1410549 by StarkM (Power User) at 2011-06-16 23:40:02 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

What happened to him is unclear. If "nothing" would have happened to him it wouldn't be unclear anymore.
And the information that it remains unclear up until a certain point in the book spoils the expectations one might have regarding this character and a possible reappearance. Is it really so hard to not talk about the books in here? Especially book content ahead of the TV show?

"nothing" is the amount of information on what happened to him that both readers of the book and watchers of the show have on his fate. He could show up in the future or he could not it remains a mystery for both readers and tv watchers and thus is not a spoiler unless somone has some sort of serious fucking nazi spoiler vibe going on.

I agree that people should NOT be revealing what happens to charactors in the future as it pertains to the books ie "so and so dies" etc.

So from now on think before you post....in fact there is little need to discuss the books in this thread anyways. We have been lenient but people who come here to troll and nothing else (drev) need mind what they post from now on.
