yea could be

really weird how fast it melted

And it's not strange that there are dragons? Or that a massive wall of ice has been built thousands of years ago? Or that creatures like white walkers exist? It's fantasy, get over it.

Wall of ice?

Wall of ice?

What do you think The Wall is made of? Bricks?

About gold's melting temperature: it's easy to remember as it is 1337 degrees kelvin.

what is weird with dragons? it is fantasy, dragon are very common in fantasy

gold is gold everywhere, schi fi, fantasy or drama or whatever

or you saying it was goldfoobie, a metal similar to gold but have a melting point of 200c ?

#1404255 by K11su (Power User) at 2011-05-25 23:43:08 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Actually it's plausible (can't be arsed to Google around), but iirc different gold alloys have lower melting temps (800-900 C) and that fire should be hotter than that (candle is 1000 C). Maybe not doable as easily as shown in the episode, but I'd rather not watch how they melt the gold for half an hour, so it's good enough for me.

232c?  .....of course that shit would burn the fuck out of you.

can't believe people are debating metal melt points in a story with dragons, fire resistant flesh and night walker beasts or w/e...

Damn, seriously? They did a perfect job setting the tone of them in the very first episode. I was really waiting for them to pop up and just kind of ream everyone.

Just got done with tonight's episode....can somebody clear something up for me though....

So at the end, Ned has to show up in front of Geoffrey since he thinks he's king. I got all that....what I didn't get was the exchange going on as to who was fighting for who's side.....the knight with the disfigured face was fighting for Ned? Or Geoffrey? Didn't Ned not want bloodshed? It seemed he asked for it but then all of a sudden shit hit the face out of nowhere...who gave the command?

Ned Stark brought with him his personal guard (the people who were killed) and the skinny pimp with the goatee (Petyr) gave Ned stark the city guard. Joffrey was in charge of the guards standing in front and next to him, as well as the guy with the disfigured face, Then Petyr the pimp double crossed Ned Stark and ordered the City guard to Ned's personal guard and I assume take him as a prisoner. That's where the episode ended

The guards Ned brought besides his own household guards were the Goldcloaks. They are basically guards for hire. They mainhold the peace in kings landing, Ned hoped having them would be enuff to hold off geoffrey. But the goldcloaks heed to the one who pays them, so as i interpret it Petyr was paid more by the lannisters.

When he was young Petyr was in love with Ned Stark wife....so he has a grudge on Ned.Also Petyr was the man who send the assassin to kill Ned son Bran and then lye and blame Tyrion Lannister.

Littlefinger won the dagger in a game from Tyrion which was given to the assassin to be used to frame Tyrion Lannister, since littlefinger points out that it was Tyrions dagger that was used by the assassin.
