I've yet to hear about anyone regretting buying these books, so enjoy

On my second re-read, and personally I think you're in for a treat. The tv-series is a good adaption of a vast material, but they're leaving out a lot of history and small details which add to the story.

Yea, That happens with any film or television adaptation of any book.

Honestly I wish they would adapt Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series and for god's fucking sake leave out the details and the history. Sometimes books need to be whittled down some to make them more digestible like Game of Thrones.

I agree. Brandon Sanderson's way of writing the last 2 books is an improvement on that point though. Unfortunately I don't think the WoT series could be translated to as TV series very well, as to much of the stuff that's happening is happening inside the head of the main characters...

Thats mostly because Brandon Sanderson is a far better writer than Robert Jordan ever was.

Is there anyone who have paid good attention who could enlighten me towards what the Hand got out of reading the book? I obviously got that he "found" out that all of Jeoffrys forefathers have been black haird, and he ain`t. But I got the feeling something passed me by.

that's just about it, all of the kings bloodline (including his bastard children) had black hair. Since Jeoffry has blond hair that must mean he is not really the kings legitimate son which is what the previous hand discovered and was killed for.

Just from watching the all the episodes you can easily connect the dots and figure out that Cersei only had 1 kid with King Robert and that one died before it was born ( think she said something about being in love with him before loosing their child in the previous episode, if i remember correctly ). So all the kids the Cersei has are all actually Jamie's ( her brothers ) children.
And thats what the Hand finds out when he reads the book, as to what happens beyond that i wont say, as i havent watched the latest episode and i dont know how far the story is with this subject.

qbert95 beat me to the punch, still join both of what he and i said and you get the picture.

It comes down to basic geneology, the genes for black hair is "stronger" than the genes for blonde, and so usually if you have at least one parent with black hair you won't have blonde hair. So he basically figured out Joffrey's real dad must be blonde(guess who, huh?)

Join what all 3 of us said and you truly get a full answer to the question you asked.

That's just about it, all of the kings bloodline (including his bastard children) had black hair. So Edd assumed that it comes down to basic geneology, the genes for black hair is "stronger" than the genes for blonde, and so usually if you have at least one parent with black hair you won't have blonde hair. Since all of the kids Cersei has are blond, King Robert isn't their father, but some blond guy is.
Edd probably couldn't be sure who was their father, only thing he knew was that King Robert wasn't. This is what the previous Hand found out and was killed for.
But you were shown that Cersei is screwing with a blond guy, that guy being her brother Jamie, so you can connect the dots and assume he is the father.

There i was bored at work and did it for you.

Do you know if there's a way to access HBO GO from outside the states?

No idea, maybe through some sort of proxy? But haven't tried so can't really say more than that. I've seen Episode 7 a few places already, but no HD so far.

Some of the comments that I have read about the ep7 webrip is that it's a low quality wmv file. No thanks.
I hope there's an HD version soon.

Wanted to ask this before but i forgot.

What was dany thinking about when putting those dragon eggs in fire, and why is she so obsessed with dragons?
( i mean i know her ancestors had something to do with them but they are extinct now right? )

Also the ep6 ending was freaky.

If you recall she got them as a gift in episode 1, they basically looked like fossils, and through her care it seems that they are not only alive and kicking but about to hatch. She wasn't hurt by the fire when she tried to pick the egg up, while the servant
and her brother
were. She is therefore
the true Dragon
.
