I finally have something worth posting. Today I went xmas shopping for myself. My old speakers have finally bit the dust. So I figured I'd use some of the money I've been saving to get myself a new set. I am very happy with it. I can't find the cord for my camera so I am using a pic from the website. (Don't worry didn't hotlink it from the site) I also bought 3 new pairs of cute knickers.

Since someone is bound to say it, where are the knicker pics?!

ProTIP: If you take a picture with your iPhone, make sure you have geotagging OFF. Else it will tag the picture with your exact GPS coordinates. (not only the iPhone does this btw)

I noticed this first when I saw some scene groups releasing proofs of album leaks, and they had their proof pics tagged with their exact GPS location, making it pretty easy for any government agency with an EXIF viewer to find them.

Good choice

Finally got Delivery of everything today, so that's a Biostar TPower X58A, I7 940 and Corsair XMS3 6GB all for £315 is a bargain if everything works. Just worried my PSU isn't up to the job I'm seeing some connectors I've never used on a mobo before, what the hell is that 8 pin connector in the top left and since when does the graphics need a molex on the motherboard too, have I been out of the game that long.

It's to power your CPU.

#1362324 by Angelitta (Power User) at 2010-12-22 16:40:12 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

I believe it's called EPS connector - just like the 4 pin ATX connector but provides even more power than that one.

By design, the regular 24 pin power supply connector would supply enough juice to power a regular processor, if the motherboard lacked PCI-Express slots.

With PCI-Express slots, these need a lot of power so the motherboard makers add that connector or a 4 pin connector to get additional power, just for the processor (and sometimes the memory modules).

You can probably use a regular 4pin power connector and plug it in that 8 pin slot and it will work - the connector is keyed so you can't plug it incorrectly.

The connector near the pci-express slot? I guess it's to provide power to whatever custom fans you may want to place on your video card, or it may be optional (like it was on my old asus p5nd2-sli) to give more power to pci-express slot, in case you want to overclock the video card.  By default it shouldn't be needed, but check the manual of the motherboard just in case.

ps as it's a male connector , it takes power IN so it's most likely the second, to give additional power to pci express slots, in case you'll do some heavy overclocking.
