My new still virgin (sealed) 1TB drive, for OS (Windows 7 bought half a year ago and still sealed to this day) and programming/ stuff. Adding to 1TB + 640GB + 400GB and "donating" a 250 GB one to my sister's PC.

Picture blurry cause it's dark in the room and too lazy to turn on lights and pull curtains just for a picture.

Recently got into paintball...

So I got myself a slightly used Proto Matrix 06 marker with a Virtue PM6 board.

Shoots paint like a motherf***er!

Does your WD1002FAEX click as much as mine does? I had to enable AAM and set it to low noise, otherwise there was this annoying clicking noise while writing/reading.
It didn't seem to affect the performance, though, and according to google I'm not alone.

#1332391 by Angelitta (Power User) at 2010-09-21 20:59:31 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Doesn't click at all, I don't even hear it - my power supply makes more noise.

It's Revision    01.01V01, maybe yours is different? Oh and I'm running it in SATA2 mode, not 3, as I have an older Asus P5Q-PRO which doesn't have sata3.

It actually surprised me how cold it stays when it runs - right now it's at 35C, I was expecting more, though it looks like WD drives are usually warmer:

Seagate ST3250620AS    32 °C  (90 °F)
Seagate ST3640323AS    35 °C  (95 °F)
WDC WD1002FAEX-00Y9A0    34 °C  (93 °F)
WDC WD10EADS-00L5B1    30 °C  (86 °F)
WDC WD4000AAKS-00YGA0    35 °C  (95 °F)

Yeah, I have ha 00Y9A0. SATA 2.

At least this one runs cold, too. 30C with uTorrent active.
It's not really a big deal, as long as AAM is set to low noise, so I guess I'll live.

All my hard drives work like new... but then I'm a calm kind of person - usually hard drives get issues because people hit the case with their feet or punch the desk when they "die" in games, causing vibrations and crap.

And you can see from the data above I usually don't reboot my system often... 302 times in about 1 - 1 1/2 years - usually my system is online for weeks.

Since I have computers just one Maxtor drive started to get bad sectors and I think that was because of power failures - here where I live now we get one or two power failures a year probably, electricity is very reliable. I just stopped using it and bought another.

Had mine in my file server so its have been rebooted like 10 times in 15 months :/ but it havent idled muched so i guess thats why it broke. But there was no indications of it

will invest in an external drive for storage this time to increase the idle time and have a 2.5 disk for the system. Dont need much speed when you host just a few apps =)

Ahh, they're supposed to be quite forgiving on the amp so i guess it'll work like a charm
Have you plugged the bass port on the backside? If not I wouldn't place them that close to the wall:smartass:
